@@CJandRINA That is precisely why it was removed. BTW, have you guys ever heard the fourth verse? Key actually wrote the poem after witnessing the bombardment of Fort McHenry in Baltimore during the War of 1812. That was the war when the British burned the White House after marching on Washington to destroy evidence of the original 13th Amendment which forbade Americans from holding Titles of Nobility from foreign governments - such Esquire. Ever wonder why the men who signed the Treaty "ending" the American Revolution signed as "His Majesty's Faithful Servant" and "Esquire"? Ever wonder why the Jay Treaty twenty years after our "victory" asked the King of England to remove his garrisons from "our"cities?

I'm half American Indian, we have much that we could be bitter for, but I love this country, my Homeland. Yes we still have some things to work out, but we need to work them out together remembering that whatever ethnicity, we ARE Americans and need to be united as such. Even with bad things that have happened, we still live in the most free country that's ever existed. Never had there been a country like ours. We tend to forget that though we have many different Tribes & Nations within, we should remember that we are one Nation UNDER GOD. When we leave Him out and forget that, is when we run into trouble. This story and this dear family and beautiful child touched my heart and they make me proud...because we are ALL Americans. Respect for our Flag, Our Anthem (and the story behind it), our Nation, and for our People's of different Tribes. Respect to our Creator who has blessed us this far. Yes, the American Indians may have had it worse than black slaves. Both were bad. But it's also true Indians would fight each other and be brutal about it also. Lands have really been fought over by one group over another for thousands of years. Well, American's fought a war to get this country and keep it. The Indians lost. But worse, they were cheated on with the Agreements they did make with white people. So I get that also. Reservations are basically jail cells without walls. There is no way to change the past. Bad things happened to people of every color in every country. Some of that is even happening now.
We can't live in the past and all the bad that has happened. We can learn from it, but Life is SHORT. All we can do is make the best of it for the short time that we are alive here on earth.

And I agree with Peter Torrez before me, it also brought a tear to my eyes, seeing the two of you with your hand over your heart during the singing of our National Anthem. I can tell just by watching you two with your little daughter, that you are wonderful parents, and your little girl giving everyone watching a big, smile, wave and a loud BYE was soooo freaking cute!
I'm an old guy, but it does my heart good to see Americans that still love our country, even as we go through times.
All the best to all three of you!

Start teaching them young. Grow up with good habits like wanting to learn. As a kid, their JOB is to learn, learn, learn. So that when they grow up, they can make something of themselves and also live the American dream. Have their own family. Teach them as they were taught. You can't just ignore your kids and expect the school to teach them. Especially these urban city schools. The drop out rate is so high. Yet many kids with such a disadvantage can still get a good education and go to collage or whatever else. Always starts with a stable family with a Mom and a Dad!!! That is what I see above.

These people really have no idea how easy of a life they have it these days and it's because of all the Amazing American's from the past. Was it perfect? No, but things like Slavery got fixed, We fought a war over it. This country wouldn't exist if they tried to stop it when it was being created. Sometimes you can't get everything you want. You just hope you can fix it down the road and our ancestors did. So many American's died in the civil war in the process of fixing that. Personally, I think even without the war, in a few years it would have ended anyway. Slaves were not cheap. So only the rich could own them. The cost to buy. The cost to feed them and house them. The cost to hire people to watch over them so they didn't run away. Things like the cotton gin were being invented. Just hiring people to work for you was becoming cheaper than owning slaves.
So few American's actually owned any slaves back then for the reasons stated above. People's views were just overall changing that slaves just weren't right. It would have ended whether the war happened or not. Just a little later I think if the civil war never happened. We'll never know. 5-10 years without the Civil War and I think it would have ended anyway. That is still 5-10 years of being a slave, but over 600,000-800,000 American's on both sides lost their lives. Was it the right move at the time to make?
How many of the 10.7 million Africans were shipped directly to North America? A TINY fraction, Only about 388,000!!! The rest went to the Caribbean and South America. Of course they will start having kids and so the numbers will grow, but still it's really a pretty tiny number overall of those actually being shipped to the U.S. So it needs to be put in perspective. So around double American's died over the number of slaves brough into this country. Yes, few of those were also black, fighting for their freedem also.

This is a great reaction video,, and your daughter is adorable...I see some people commenting on a few lines that are in one of the other verses,, and always seem to read it incorrectly because a certain word is in the verse. There is nothing wrong with any part of the anthem.. People try to make claims that it is in someway, pro
-slavery... It isn't in anyway... What is wrong is peoples ability to comprehend what they are reading....This is what it says - Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution. No refuge could save the hireling and slave from terror or flight, or the gloom of the grave........So what does that mean?
That the Patriots blood that was spilled, washed away the Pollution...The Pollution is that the British had invaded our country, and their footsteps polluted our country....And while they were on our soil, everyone was terrified and feared for their lives. ...From the hireling and slave.....or in modern terms we might say...From the richest to the poorest...All feared the British....The Star Spangled Banner doesn't say that one group was more important than the other, just that everyone was united in the horrific circumstances that war had brought to the US....to all of our homes.....

I am 51 years old. My grandfather came to America from Denmark before WWI. He got off of a ship from Scotland. He literally got right back aboard a ship to fight in WWI for the USA. My grandfather, the Viking King of Denmark, is what his Army pals called him, anyway, he used to tell this story over and over again. He was very proud to be American. Lots of his offspring fought and died in so many wars after that. WWII, Korea, Vietnam, I served in a few, but the reasons, the politics, the powers that be, our leadership, were never the reasons that any of us had in mind. The reason any of us served was this story. This, Our National Anthem, is special. One of a kind. As my Grandfather would say, "Your story is this." Yes, if you are doing the math, he was 51 when my mother was born. Makes me chuckle because I wonder if that isn't the reason his pals gave him the "Viking King of Denmark" nickname.

I can understand why people would feel the need to protest and feel they are oppressed or whatever. But I hope that after seeing this and knowing the story, people can understand why people who love this flag and the country it represents get so upset and angry seeing it burned, stepped on, or people taking a knee. I can understand why Tommy Smith and the other gentleman, who’s name I forget, raised their fist during the National Anthem in the 1968 Olympics. But they stood on their feet and I can respect that and I think if the NFL had done a more respectful protest there wouldn’t have been the same outrage.

Taking the knee is not disrespectful at all, it is a respectful way of standing for American citizens that have been murdered instead of having their rights respected. The flag is a powerful symbol of freedom so when people see the rights of others being trampled on, they have every right to protest. Our founding father's expected us to fight against injustice and respected protest, they were fighters themselves. The color of a person's skin should never be an excuse to murder them. If we don't stand up for others rights, who will stand for ours?

These players are on their knee's when they're in a country where they can play a GAME and make millions doing it!!! If you want to protest the police, I think there are better times to do that than when you're on the job working!!! Doing it during the National Anthem is the worse possible time to do the whole knee thing. It has nothing to do with the police. With the quote of Dying on your feet then living on your knee's, they are actually doing the wrong move in the first place by getting on their knee's during the NA. That is why so many people have a problem with it. It's just the wrong time to protest, let alone in that way. They don't understand the History and why what they are doing is so wrong!!!
I do agree there are a lot of BAD police. There are some good police. But death by cop for a black person is such a TINY, TINY percentage. It's higher for whites, but still, Black on Black crime, Murder is 1000 times worse. When black Baby's, kids, teens are getting shot and killed and by other blacks, why do none of these athletes seem to care about that? BLM doesn't give a crap about that either. It's pretty disgusting. It's a War Zone in places. Why is that? I think a lot of it has to be because of a lack of FAMILY'S The Dad rarely in the picture. Women getting knocked up and maybe having 3-4 kids by 3-4 different males. That alone keeps you poor. The kids have no Dad to look up to them and guide them and so they end up joining the gang to fill in that missing hole in their life and that of course leads to gang life or drugs and shooting others, etc and then maybe jail for most of their life.
      That needs to change!!!

Before anyone comes for me, let me say I love my country, and my flag, I served in the U.S.N. I'm not saying any of this to disparage anyone who fought or fought and died for our flag, I'm a Mayflower (and preceding the Mayflower) descendent. I've had an ancestor fight in every single U.S. war, starting with my g,g,g grandfather, Ebenezer Snow who fought in the Revolutionary war. It's because I DO love my flag so much that I want the real history to be known, not some revisionist lies.
I'm sorry, but while it is a moving story, it's not historically accurate in the least :( There's not much (or close to any) of it that's true. We were no longer "colonies", we had been states for 36 years during the War of 1812, and 38 years when Fort McHenry was fired upon in 1814. Francis Scott Key did not go alone to a British ship to negotiate the trade of numerous prisoners, he was accompanied by British Prisoner Exchange Agent Colonel John Stuart Skinner and they were to negotiate the release of a single man, Dr. Beanes. It also had nothing to do with "American Christians", nothing to do with religion, but that's what you get when a preacher writes the script. Actually, there's way too much for me to try to correct. I read the article it doesn't say much about the attack and gives more history about those who had it in their posession and restored it. Washington's family were Brittish and their age old estate still stands in the U.K., is older than any building standing in America. The American flag is actually the Washington family coat of arms long before it became the American Flag. The very first flag to stand on American soil was staffs made of eagle feathers by the Native Tribes. Those staffs are still standing in Tribal communities today. The statue that stands on top of the dome at Capitol Hill is actually a Native American woman wearing an eagle headdress because she represents the truest history and image of the land.

Maybe it's because I grew up on a military base and went to schools on base-- but we were taught this in school. (And I'm 52-- so I was in school a loooong time ago-- so maybe that has something to do with it too.) It really is a shame that kids aren't taught this in general though.
By the way, I totally stumbled onto this video by accident-- and I'm so glad I did! You have the most precious family! That little one of yours is a DOLL!!! That smile and giggle!! So adorable!

@Tracy Keeney, yeah, I think it's the military base thing...cuz I knew this story too, but so many don't. :( We (military brats) also had to stand for the anthem before our movies too, but most civilian kids only hear it at games or parades. I am more grateful every single day for being raised on Army bases for most of my childhood. God bless the USA!

There are at least four verses to our national anthem. Take the time to read the total anthem.

    • @jessallen7756
      @jessallen7756 3 года назад +1

Francis Scott Key wrote the song in 1875. it did not become the national anthem until 1931. two verses had to be omitted. I ask you to research William Carney. in my eyes, he is the greatest American hero that ever lived. he dropped his rifle to carry OUR flag.

@Justin Bailey you're correct about the anthem being adopted in 1931 & about William Carney. His story is amazing! You're incorrect about the when the anthem was written though. The Star Spangled Banner was written in 1814. That's one of the ways this video is not quite accurate. This song was written about the War of 1812. We were not colonists then. We were already a country, with a government & a constitution. It's still a powerful video and I think more people need to see it.
