This is a great ride as you explore the history of communication. It is one of the last great AA attractions left at Epcot in Walt Disney World. This version is narrated by Jeremy Irons.

"Like a grand and miraculous spaceship, our planet has sailed through the universe of time. And for a brief moment, we have been among its many passengers." That is such an amazing statement.

I rode this when Walter Cronkite was the narrator when I was 12 or 13. I'm 39 now and still watch this version all the time. Jeremy Irons has the perfect voice for it as well.

I agree, I first rode this ride in 86 when I was 5, and liked the Kronkite version, but I grew to like this one the best. After watching videos here, I find that there is a lot of dead air in the first version and Kronkite's delivery is flat, but since he was a news reporter, that was the way he talked and delivered the news. Jeremy Irons, being a classical actor, threw in a little showmanship at certain points (e.g. "the renaissance") that made it better.

Crazy to think they removed the cityscape finale so you can stare at a thoughtless tablet in the cart the rest of the way down instead. Just pure crazy. Tomorrow's Child has been horribly robbed.

when I rode it as a kid, I also thought that, all the factors making the ride up made it very relaxing and educational at the same time, Walter Cronkite and Jeremy Irons were great narrators of this ride.

Spaceship Earth is one of my favorite rides in Disney. As a kid, I loved the old ending, and, as an adult, I love the new ending. It's funny though to hear people talking about how they don't like the new ending while people who have never seen the old ending have no issues with the new ending. I think it comes down to childhood nostalgia.

    • @FilmThePoliceFTP
      @FilmThePoliceFTP Год назад

The second ending (with the people talking to each other through computers) was my favorite. I’ve seen all 3, though I don’t remember the original, I know I rode it while it was still the original ending. I despise the current ending. The 2nd was whimsical and now, nostalgic. Now it’s covered in curtains and dust, both hiding it’s former greatness.

There's an elegance to this one that cannot be matched--the combination of the music and the narration of Jeremy Irons. I find it somewhat unfortunate they remodeled the attraction with the mindset of appealing to the children; I found the attraction to be just fine the way it was when I was a child. Still, it is a very educational experience in the development and importance of communication. And that's what matters.

I've only been to Disney World once, but I had to have ridden Spaceship Earth at least ten times during my weeklong stay. It was back in 2004, when Jeremy Irons was still the narrator. To say that it influenced my life would be a grave understatement.
I am planning on returning to DW later this year or next year, and while I will revisit Spaceship Earth and give the Judi Dench version a chance, it's not going to hold a candle to the one I grew up with.

I cried when it got to 15:00. The song is so beautiful and it shows how promising the future can be. That's my favorite part of the ride, by far.
I rode this version over fifteen times and just a week ago and I rode it again and it was totally ruined. I had no idea that the ride was changed. I'm going to miss it forever. I am beyond sad about this. I feel betrayed.

This ride was at its best with "Tomorrow's Child" as the theme music and Walter Cronkite as the narrator. Why Disney feels the need to "update" things that aren't broken is beyond me. Avid Disney fans will undertstand what I mean. Great tribute! Thanks!

This is the version of Spaceship Earth that I grew up with. The narration, the score, and the descent scenes are truly the best. I honestly hope that if Disney does decide to update spaceship earth (which it really needs one) that they bring back the magic of this version.

Another Paragraph says - This adventure through time leads ultimately to the very top of Spaceship Earth's geodesic dome, where guests arrive at the present. The time travel adventure will be enhanced through new, interactive touch screens installed aboard each "time machine" that will enable guests to create their own visions of the future and see themselves in that future.

I totally love this version more than the Judi Dench version.
I have nothing against Disney wanting to update it with using Dame Judi Dench, but I kinda prefered it when Jeremy Irons did the narration because he had that rough voice that a narrator should have, whereas Judi just sounds like she's a computerised voice.

Meaning, AT&T had it b4 (the old version) and now seaome (The new version) has the contract, so they can put the ride in any form they want for the next x (when parks opened it was 99 year contract, who knows now) number of years

Not sure if this was the ride that I rode WAY back in 1992, but I remember towards the end of the ride that there was a Futuristic City.
There were a lot of buildings and I remember there were tubes that connected the buildings together.
There were flashes of lights that were going through these tubes.
Maybe those flashes of lights were supposed to be vehicles or even people in pods transporting from one building to the other.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?
If so, please respond to my comment.
I have been searching for the video of this ride for a very long time and have been unsuccessful.
Maybe this video is what I remember.
I have always loved Science Fiction and Futuristic stuff and even Interior Decorating and Designing.
    What a combination, huh?
I know it was 1992 because I went on a Junior/Senior Field Trip with my school to Walt Disney World and my parents were with me.
My parents and I rode this ride.

You might be thinking of the end of the first version of the ride that was narrated by Walter Kronkite. At the end of the ride there was a "light tunnel" which you might be thinking of, it also had the song "Tomorrow's Child", if that rings a bell. This is the second version that opened in 1994 and that section of the ride was removed. You could possibly be thinking of the ride HORIZIONS which had a interconnected buildings with monorails, etc.

Yeah. One thing that's kinda cool is you can pick the language, so my family (well, my dad and I at least) listened to the whole thing in each language (English first, obviously, so we understood it) but other than that, the old one is so much better. I just like the way everything is in the old one.

The last scene before the descent, where you see planet Earth, gave me chills, with that music. I'm not a great fan of the new score.

I love this ride. I've only been on it last year and the year before. I never knew there was a... "change" to the ride. Hmm. I am curious now. :/

In my opinion all they needed to do was update its animatronics and effects and not put in new scenes and narrations. Sigh, I miss the old Spaceship Earth.
