Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen PC - 2 - Cassardis, NPC's, and Quests

- Join me on a grand adventure in the land of Gransys. As the Arisen, we will seek out the dragon, Grigori, who has quite literally stolen our heart. Enlisting the help of otherworldly Pawns, climbing around on gigantic creatures, and selecting the best vocation for the job is the name of the game.
This will be a Let's Play of Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen PC, but it is far from blind. I have a good working knowledge of the game and this series will serve as an introduction to the game as well as a walkthrough. Consider this a "Most Things Possible in...Dragon Dogma."
Today, we explore our hometown of Cassardis, a quaint fishing village. The dragon has destroyed much of what we once held dear. Let's talk to the neighbors and see how we can help. Also, loot!
Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen has finally been released on the PC. This game was originally released in 2012 for the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3. While it was well received critically, the original game was not nearly as successful in the West as it was in Japan. The release of Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen in 2013 helped to bring the game into the limelight again, but it still did not meet expectations.
Because of the popularity in Japan, Dragon's Dogma: Online is currently only available there with no plans of releasing elsewhere.
However, the developers have hinted that a sequel may still happen if the PC release is successful: www.pcgamer.com...
The game is only $29.99 USD at Steam: store.steampowe...

Having just completed my blind playthrough, this is a very handy let's play for my second playthrough. There's so few videos/guides on Dragon's Dogma, so I hope to learn a lot from this.
+GuardianOfDandelions Awesome, welcome aboard! What did you think of your first time playing?
+BlueLizardJello I absolutely loved it. It's a game that hit the level of enjoyment I got from playing Kingdoms of Amalur, only this game let me jump when I wanted to, and perform crazy jumps at that. The vertical element of gameplay, between positioning and climbing atop giant monsters grabbed me immediately. The moment I started climbing the cyclops at the very beginning and stabbing it in the arm as it dropped its weapon, I knew the game was something special. The story may have been delivered pretty poorly, and the beloved system caught me off-guard in a bad way (as in, when I saw them at *that* point in the game, I wondered who they were supposed to be), but the lore and meaning hidden within the mess of a story were really cool once I figured all of it out.
Been looking for a good Dark Arisen walkthrough. Never seen you before. 2 episodes in and I like you already. You're informative and entertaining. I'll be subbing and sticking around.
Cheers! I was happy to share this game, it's easily one of my favorites. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer. Welcome :)
BlueLizardJello Nice! I'm currently playing through the new PS4 edition of Dark Arisen. Have you considered doing more runs as different classes?
Man thank you for this walkthrough!!!!! I missed DD and i wanted to watch someone who already knows the game and sorta do a replay for it so this is great!! Thank you so much ❤
Been so long since I played it on PS3, and after watching ur vid, there r still TONS of things I DIDN'T know of!!!
So cool! Btw, love ur explanations of the game and the details u put into the game itself. U do appreciate the efforts put into it by the game developers. This game is really a hidden gem.
New sub!
Welcome! I'm so glad you're finding this series helpful. I really wish more people would play this game!
nice video i wouldnt mind seeing the looting too. Maybe u can make them as a optional thing in the end of the video or so. Anyway great work ;-)
+xxxLimelight1991xxx I'll try to keep more of it in so people can find the looting spots. I'll still cut some out, but I definitely understand now that a lot of people would like to know where I'm looting. Thanks for the feedback!
So happy to see im not the only person who like this game
Love this game, and your walkthrough is very precise and entertaining. I’m actually playing this right now (again) and it takes me back to 2012 and my ps3 days. Great job
Your pawn appeared in my rift today, he is level 4. I'm gonna take him for a ride^^
+PredandBeranie Aw, yay! Silverius would love the company :D Just don't give him any gifts - there is a known issue where the equipment isn't staying with the Pawn when you dismiss them and it's lost for good. Capcom knows about the issue and hopefully it's fixed soon.
Is that...you Nazeem? !
+Lisa (Elfay) Do you get to the Cloud District very often?
heh...oh what am I saying?...of course you don't.
Just bought the game... every time he talks I'm like "I know this snooty bastard from somewhere"
5:50 your Arise is quite the cutie :)
Back off, I saw her first!
more like you made her lol :D Anyways I got my own pawn waifu :p
r/holup
I wasn't sure what to expect with this game, but the more gameplay I see, the more interested I am in picking it up myself. I'm very excited to see more! Recognising Rook's voice actor as being the same as Nazeem's from Skyrim was amusing as well.
Scanning PC Gamer's Beginner's Guide, I'm happy to read that night time is actually *dark* - too often games will neglect realism and atmosphere in favour of playability. As long as a game has a light source mechanic (e.g. lantern, torch, magical light) I much prefer to have dungeons/caves/exteriors be near pitch-black (where appropriate), otherwise these mechanics are rendered pretty much pointless.
+AquaticPossum I agree entirely. That was a very large criticism of Dark Souls 2, prior to Scholar of the First Sin which partially alleviated the issue - the trailer we saw at E3 a couple of years ago depicted complete darkness, only held back by a torch. What we got was a an overly bright, saturated game with the torch being made completely obsolete.
Elfay had referenced Nazeem in a previous post and I didn't actually make the connection until now. Great observation, both of you!
I loved this game on PS3. Playing the fromsoft games has made me want to play this again.
+OhWolfy84 Dragon's Dogma fits in so well with the Fromsoft games. It might not be as challenging, but there are certainly some big difficulty spikes and the amount of build and combat variability is on par.
OhWolfy84 I used to play it alot on 360,but my disc has a scratch on it...here for nostalgia
Tyvso much for this just got the game today and your making it so much more fun the lore is insane ty brother
You're very welcome, enjoy this great game!
*I started playing this game back when it released but I wasn't very big into these types of games back then. But nowadays, with the popularity in the gaming zeitgeist of Dark Souls, and other From Software properties similar to Dark Souls, I think Dragon's Dogma would have a killer chance to becoming popular if whoever made this game remade it with current or updated graphics and lighting, because of the success of Dark Souls. For the past year I've been on a huge Dark Souls binge, playing DS1-DS3. I've mastered all of them, and I've actually been watching both BlueLizardJello and The Fighting Cowboy. Fighting Cowboy for Dark Souls 3 and you, BlueLizard, for Dark Souls 2 SOTFS. I have played Bloodborne; it was my first FromSoft game. I played Sekiro but never finished it. Played Elden Ring, haven't finished it. Played Salt and Sanctuary and other Dark Souls copycats, but nothing beats Dark Souls. I really hope one day we get a fourth installment to Dark Souls. So now that I can see Dragon's Dogma as a Souls-like game, I can definitely see the Souls-Borne fan base liking Dragon's Dogma.*
So I just wanted say thanks for this ,I missed so much in the starting area.i just started replaying it since I bought dark arisen and beat the old one on 360 didn't realize I missed so much 😢
It's all very easy to miss! But you can get quite a good bit of kit/consumables without ever leaving Cassardis if you know where to look.
They give you a house in Cassaris but you can't rest there, Nice. A great LP so far BlueLizardJello you're very knowledgeable about this game and I can appreciate that thanks for sharing.
I love this game, also I appreciate the way you are so detailed with your explanations about the strategy you will be using to play this game. I have subbed to your channel.
Very informative and relaxing. You've got a talent for this! Thumbs up + subscribed!
Thank you, glad to have you as part of the community :)
awesome videos man, so good! thank you
+VALVERDEd No, thank you! Glad you enjoyed. :)
Hmm…I wonder if the scriptures being missing have anything to do with random people being able to wander in and steal anything they want from the table?
I mean, let's be honest, the church opens their doors and everything is free for the taking, do you rush to grab the scriptures? There's gold, possibly precious artifacts, at the very least some wine and bread probably!
@@BlueLizardJello When I went in my pawns looted the place without me asking so apparently it's just common practice XD
at 2:00 look at the sunlight square moving on the floor. It is more noticeable if you hit the right arrow button and skip in 5 second steps.
Hmmm. Illuminati confirmed?
I've finished the game countless times on different platforms, Ps3, 360, and PC, and for some reason I find your walkthrough and commentary very entertaining and informative despite being a not-so fan and not quite familiar with the game(*sarcasm*). And I still find little stuff thqt I didn't know about.
thanks for explaining everything its been a long time sense I have played
I was the magic bow man thing. It was really strong. I two-shot the dragon that stole your heart :p
I started DD when it last went on sale in Steam, I have figured out the difficulty changes you can do just so you can restart the game to somewhat brand new but stronger start, I looove this game. I'm going to beng what this whole playthrough.
just started playing and I found the area with the 3 chests at the beginning immediately and knew it was something to be 'found' by exploring and it was so rewarding ohmy!!! I almost didn't buy this game but geeez, it's rewarding already!
“Stock up on curatives” I bought about 50 greenwarish is that good?
Thank you! I really need this guide!
I wondered where I got the weirdly useful items from. Didn't even realize that I had withdrawn from the inn.
Weirdly useful is best useful.
is this a 100% walktrough?
Dragon's dogma 2 hypeeeeee
can't w8 to see a walkthrough for it too :)
As always Blue...well done. Thank you!
Thank you for this walkthrough. Tried this game 3 times over before I said "screw it" for good, because it was that confusing for me. Now, imma get back and play like I actually know what I am doing.
I really hope you get into it this time. I truly believe this is a hidden gem and more people need to play it. We have an awesome and knowledgeable community here, so feel free to ask any question you might have!
Thank u I needed this so much just started playing😃👍
watching while downloading game, great stuff :)
you're gonna love it I'm sure!
+Ondrej Hanel Thanks, glad you're enjoying! Stop by and tell us about some of your own Gransys adventures :)
The initial tips were quite helpful, currently lvl 10 fighter just arriving at the capital.
I see what you meant by not using the extra items, i went ahead and sold them and ended up with 320k, seems rather op to me. I might go ahead and restart without touching them...
+Ondrej Hanel Exactly. Not only are the items a bit overpowered when you wear them at the beginning, but also having over 300,000 gold immediately gives you far too much of an advantage. Later on, after level 20 or so, they really aren't an issue anymore.
I never played an assassin type because everyone raves about it, so I look forward to seeing how it goes and to watch your playstyle.
This is the type of playstyle I use in most games :) I really need to branch out and play with more of the magic in Dragon's Dogma!
BlueLizardJello I'm the same with magic classes, hahaha.
If you play a sorc, the bandit's will be hard at first and ogres, but once you get holey boon you could pretty much adventure alone, even in bitter black.
If you want an idea for augments I like; Mage - attunement & inflection. Sorc - conservation, gravitas, acuity & articulacy. Warrior - clout because spells that have either knockdown, knockout or physical damage still take the strength stat into account and 20% increase is huge!
For spells Levin is a must for knocking down bosses and ogres, Bolide and Maelstrom for DPS and AOE, otherwise just go with what you like, with holey boon I find myself using the normal staff attack the most, unless it's a boss.
They're my tips for you :)
Have you played the magic archer? They can be a lot of fun and no need for aiming, well barely.
Anyway, I am still watching you in BBI, but I enjoyed your play through and I never read the notes so that was interesting as well.
I have no intention of playing this game, but I'll be damned if that will stop me from watching. How many episodes do you think you'll make?
+Freke Out I honestly don't have a plan for a set number, but I would really like to complete as much of the content as I can in the series. Really, I just want to play this game and I'm just letting people watch. So, you're welcome?
Rook reminds me of Leigh Francis. For anyone outside of the U.K. he's Keith Lemon... the Bo Selecta guy.
fuuuuudge... i sold the scriptures, not knowing they were a quest item xD
Appearance of Rook looks like some sort joke from our japanece developers.
+Денис Оя I really hope that's it. Otherwise, someone created him, took a step back and said, "Yup. This is exactly the type of supporting character our players will want by their sides."
I like your immersive slow phaced style friend
You pay attention to details & You take your time to look around, only i like the fact that you Don't talk ove cut scenes
It seems you know how to balance your commentaries
On October the 3rd i will like to start uploading a Solo-No Pawns Fighter focused playthrough on Hard mode
I want to do king Gaiseric (Skull knight) from BERSERK as my Arisen :)
I've been playing this for a while but didn't know that you could hop the roofs so much. Might have to have a little run around.
Also didn't notice that the sign on rooks hand is the same as the man etched in hillfigure knoll.
i love your videos. thank you.
+BlueLizardJello On the reverse,it's good to be wet fighting a fire drake,it reduces the fire damage. I usually throw my pawns in water before a drake fight.
+drtbag39 Good point, I need to be sure to mention that soon!
+BlueLizardJello That one that shows up in front of the city in the aftermath of the end is right next to the little ravine. I'll stop there before a fight & roll, then throw my pawns in. Its like Dark Souls.
+drtbag39 I can just see you, grouping your Pawns together. "Listen everyone, this fight won't be easy. This drake is deadly. He will roast the flesh from your bones. There's only one thing to do..."
*Tosses all Pawns into the river*
"Now we're ready!"
:-D :-D :-D :-D
BlueLizardJello Another good thing is chunking water at your pawns during the fight or on the drake, then hit him with ice magic.
THIS GAME IS SO AWESOME.
This game was special.
9 hours into this game. had no idea how much climbing there was you could do... sigh
hey Blue isn't there six levels of upgrades in dark arisen or are you waiting to talk about dragon forging? if so I apologize for saying anything...
+REDtheWraith Shh, you're spoiling the surprise! I'm kidding, but you are absolutely right and I should have mentioned it. I was going to talk about it when we got closer to the possibilities of dragon forging, but it probably is at least worth a mention early on.
I figured as much it was a awesome surprise I'll try and keep my thoughts to myself here on out haha
+REDtheWraith No no, keep the comments and tips coming! You never know what I might miss :)
@BlueLizardJello Just starting out on my first blind playthrough, but I just cant make these decisions. Does it matter to pick one or 2 vocations to focus on or can you switch them out a lot to mix and match with abilities like the rolling you were speaking of?
I'm definitely picking this up on Xbox one it looks great. Though I'll either play a mage or an archer of sorts
If you like mages and archers, go magick archer - you won't be disappointed!
I have beaten this game and had no clue about that room under the chief's house.
why is the volume of the cutscenes so low?
Rook is a true bro. No matter what character, nor does it matter the player, he'll always be there to guide you, and he'll remain useful untill Grand Soren.
Always hurts me to dismiss the dude.
I was told to sell the monocle what that ok?
Tetchedtoe yeah it just gives you more starting money and you can always buy it back later in the game
dude good job, i hope capcom made a second one
Verry Informative
Question how many pawns I will be able to create to add to my group?
I ready create my first one but I want to know if I will create more
2018 watching this while playing
Luke Tolton 2018 Commenting while working.
The scar and the connection really heavily borrows from Harry potter
So does the vision/dream
don't u think
Episode 2 and already stealing from the church
So I need to know broski! Is this game worth a buy?
+The Smile Legion I would say that it's absolutely worth a buy. Not only is it a great game in my opinion, but it's only $30 with a ton of content! The story is a bit lacking (ok, it's very lacking until you get close to the end), but the combat is fun, the leveling is unique, the boss fights are fantastic, and the build options are endless.
Yes
You probably already know this by now but the middle chest isn't set
Hey I got a copyright claim on this game. How did you not get one?
YourFriendlyNeighborhoodPCGamer Oh I did on a couple of episodes. I just allowed Capcom to monetize the videos. I’d rather them make money off of it then not have a complete series.
Ah. I'm currently watching your videos and I just finished this one. I was hoping it was a mistake that they claimed it. But I guess I'll let it be too. I'm not monetized anyway.
I completely disagree. People looking for a challenge should 100% go Hard Mode.
You can't spam Staggers. You can't spam blocking. You REALLY need to calculate your positioning.
The best feeling is defeating the chimera in the intro in HARD MODE. It's really really good stuff.
I 100% recommend it for those looking for a challenge. Money means nothing. Specially as a rougue who can't carry much.
How do you know the child liks to climb on roofs ?
paused 13:06 1guy in 1building got 10k :D it looked like inactive food store
thx for reset info
^-^ so much happiness
+Gray Kitten That's exactly how I feel playing this game again. Feels good to be back.
+BlueLizardJello
The game that keeps on giving lol
whoah! I'm late. :(
+John Faustino Or are you just in time?
Poor Rook lmao
Inverse proportion
Does anyone know if they ever went through with making the sequel
Sadly, no. Nor have they released Dragon's Dogma: Online in the west. I haven't given up hope, though!
BlueLizardJello Well that was unexpectedly quick lol. Yeah same here. Glad to know you're active though. I'm enjoying your content so far
I happen to be working on some RUclips tasks when your comment popped up :) Glad you enjoy!
bow assassin mite be more interesting then fighter assassin
I've always been more of a melee player than ranged, but I do like using the bows in this game!
@@BlueLizardJello my favorites in games are mages & rouges one is range & other1 melee & range, i do play fighter to, but this are my first choices :D
no idea should i get the game or not :D also mentally i am in a places where i look at games & cant find what would satisfies me (maybe in my current mood my expectations of a games are 2high lol) lol
Alpha Protocol dragon age series ME trilogy (despite SH ending) are good games (well withcher to, haven't played the 3th game cause they discarded saskia story, didn't continue it so i am conflictant about that to :D), this seems to lack story like another game i haven't played Divinity 2 dragon-knight saga, my preference are this type of games, romance story makes them better ofc, but i think even without it if it has moral options, options that impact missions & also endgame make a game good + good story telling, Alpha Protocol has gotten a lot of hate, but the positives nullify the negatives with this game in my eyes, i have been interested in survival & Z survival games to, but so far from what i have seen they lack something that kills it for me, but again 1 know few decant Z action games i have played, dead island & Dying light what also has parkour in it
fallout 4 would have been good game if it were done by some1 else & not Beth, that type of game is good to if it would have had story telling like in fallout new vegas what was done by Obsidian & not so much bugs, FO4 is borderline unplayable, u build settlements to & get ppl NPC, but when u get 4+ settlements build NPC bug out walk around with no purpose sometimes stand in one place & if theyr work isn't on first floor they sometimes sink trough floor to first floor & watch up, sometimes i do return to it cause its kind of fun to build settlement defenses, build community also state of decay 1 is kind of same just no Sci-fi weapons & no turrets & different way of building what was bit turn off, hated the build restrictions in state of decay, in real life u could make it all in to flat ground, but i was restricted with build slots what each base location had & u could do just one, in FO4 i had more freedom, but still some objects were in the way what in real life u could remove, but bugs there are worse
but the issue i have with finding a game, issue i mentioned before, sometimes i have same issue with food, there is a lot of food in store, but when u look at food i am like, don't want this & don't want this neither (that's even worse when i get that issue with food, but at least its rare with food) lol
@@BlueLizardJello assassin has good advantage u can adapt like if some places bow isn't cutting it u go sword and shield and then back to bow i mean hes flexible class
@@BlueLizardJello so skipping strider isn't major loss?, with 2disipline boost rings u could go fighter then strider then archer for stamina then warrior and then assassin all rank9 should also be possible if u play like 1guy explore go back and forward like the DLC island sometimes to explore that and back when ur bit stronger, he has 102 episodes :D

Me: *looks at dark arisen then looks at Xbox one* I will remember you my sweet prince... oh wait I still have a 360 and then I played dragon's dogma for so long I forgot to eat and barfed. The End
Dynamic M0n0 In case you haven't heard, Dragon's Dogma is coming to the Xbox One and PS4 this fall...prepare to not eat again!
the worst menu system i have seen in a game, i gave this game several tries, but never could get into it, im hoping this walkthrough will show me how this game is really supposed to be played
I really hope so! It’s one of my favorite games of all time, but you’re right, it’s not perfect. Let me know what you think!
i love rook
It's official. I have now heard everything.
Rook is voiced by the same actor in skyrim a pilgrim named Maurice Jondrelle that gets you the sapling in Eldergleam Sanctuary he was a pain in the ass then, and now :P
Worse thing? Stealing a book from a snake oil slalesmen is not only great but a duty
first comment!
+Gray Kitten First again - not bad!
Stealing from the church nice real nice 🤔😂
As if they didn't steal it first! :)
I'm not sure but have I herd Heraldo's voice in Skyrim?
