the dl30/31-in-1/surge clone's always been a very good tool at a very good price-- a wonderful option for those of us on a tighter budget. i'm happy to see that bibury isn't just sticking to selling surge clones and are actually taking small steps to improve the design. hopefully they keep going forward with this and we see some more innovation and competition in the multitool scene.
Bought the accessory kit and modified the scalpel to fit the leathermen surge. Took all of 2min with my dremel. Thankyou for posting this video didn't now this existed
I like those scales better than the original. The original gives more grip, for example if you're wearing gloves. So I can see that as an advantage to having them for that use. But I always thought the skeletonized cutouts were a little larger and sharper than necessary. I guess it depends on your usage. These scales give the tool a more comfortable grip in the bare hand. I have the SQT2048 20-in-1 with the same grip and it is very comfortable and prefer the look. It also came with a pocket clip that I bet fits this BI2049. I also have the Leatherman surge, which is an undeniably great too; the fit and finish is superb. But the price point and evolving innovations of these tool sets makes them a great buy.
I like the closed scales, the skeletonized scales on the old dl30 makes it possible to cut yourself if you accidently get a finger in one of the openings when you close the blade.
There are many options of the Bibury Pro which is cheaper than this version but gives you most of the same things (with the old T-shank accessories, two basic slimmer saws). But there is a Bibury kit you could purchase with the scalpel for the t-shank and additional saw bits and a few other things for $20. So get the $35~ version and buy the add on pack for decent value as well.
I missed out!! Any news on the new flashy 3.0 from pc doodles?! You’ve come across some great products, I have picked up and really like, following the links on your channel. Brother you’re my go to guy!! Loving your videos!!👍🏿💯❤️😇 you got me Hook, Line and Sinker!!😄
Just received mine this afternoon. Bought it for $53 or so from a local online platform where I am at in Malaysia. It is very well made. The main blade is a bit stiff swinging out from its closed position. But other than that, this should give Leatherman something to think about as far as good quality 3rd party clones are concerned eating into its market share for the Surge class units. For $53 it comes with a decent pouch, spare wire cutter blades, the torx tool to disassemble the replaceable wire cutters, a pretty decent t-shank saw and a t-shank scalpel blade holder with 3 scalpel blades, 24 size. Already in the t-shank holder is a diamond and cross-hatch file. It also comes with a 7 pcs double 1/4 inch bit complete with a bit holder. I say a very reasonable set for the price. Can't wait untill Bibury releases a pocket clip for this unit, if ever!
I just got mine today and was playing with it. Is yours tough to open? I'm noticing one side when I unfold the pliers is very tight and snaps when I open it.
If only they would put a pocket clip as standard and give the Surge a P3 series look.. That would be fantastic.. I say this because although you pay more for “Leatherman” you get the Quality.. And for me it’s got to be well built Quality..
There is an accessories kit you can buy seperate that fits the DL30 as well. Bibury sells on Amazon the separate kit with the scalpel. I plan to do a video on it soon with links.
I hope it's improved, but still wouldn't trust the "quality." I recently bought the previous version, and its quality wasn't up to par. The saw blades were rusted. The scissors had a dent on one arm. After two tries, I thankfully received a refund. Buy a Leatherman and be happy.
Of course get the real thing first. And then if you want something that you're carrying it in a place where it's going to get lost, stolen, or corroded, then get a cheap one like this or other similar
Why so? Does it do anything better other than warranty? Like I'd love to buy a Leatherman, but the clones honestly seem better than the real thing with a full quarter inch bit driver and bit kit.
@@gabemerritt3139 Presumably the metal quality is better. And while there's no way to predict whether either one will fail on you, if you get the Leatherman and it fails anyway, you can be sure it wasn't because you cheaped out. I have -abused- tested the wire cutters of the surge in some pretty unreasonable ways and I know the surge handles aren't going to fail if I put an extreme amount of pressure on them. Not so with my daicamping DL30. I absolutely do carry the DL30 in my work pack. But I wouldn't carry it into a situation where I knew ahead of time that my life might have to depend on the tool

The T-shank scalpel holder is amazing! Love my DL30!
Just received my Saturday I’m very impressed with the quality and for $45 it's a win ✅

The scalpel Adapter is a fantastic idea. Makes me want to get one.
Any tool that does the job well at an affordable price is a win for me, im not a label or brand person.

So is the steel still the same? I love the new tools but as denizen of the tropics i worry about rust a lot.
I think the steel is pretty much the same.
I think more saws need to come to a point for extending the awl
The Bibury t shank spar parts kit, it has a scalpel t shank
What's the difference between 2045 and 2049? I think 2049 has 7cr blade and 2045 has 3cr but i might be wrong, can you please check on the 2045 box?
Amazon has not only 50% off, but another 10% off. I got one, with the accessories you showed, for $35.99 plus tax.

Can you review the Bibury spar parts kit, it's pretty cool.

You can get it for around 48 dollars right now theres some discount and promos for it
Stay with the original Leatherman Surge
Yes sir, I'd love to see a S30 v straight bladed Surge id order 1 right out the gate
Naw. Bent too many of those stupid flat bits.
Do you know if it has warranty or just basic 30 days ?
@rubengzmn I think Amazon actually offers a 2 or 3 year warranty optional when you buy it.
How do DL30 owners get a T shank scalpel that fits?

so different accessory and different scale? anything else?

Place for pocket clip
New t shank saw

Hi! Amazon can't ship it to EU, did somebody find this one on Aliexpress? Thanks.
Only one I see is the special edition Swisstech version for $140.
Does anyone know If a European Release is Happening?
$38.24 right now after 50% plus 2 extra 10% promotions.Think was like 54 bucks off total.

12oz
