    Personally I really appreciate the philips screwdriver that works with a 1/4 inch bit adapter. Being able to use regular bits is so much better than having to use these specialised ball detent bits.

    • @blade9292
      @blade9292 10 месяцев назад +2

      Yes mostly those ball detent bits are just hard to come by.
      If at least they used wiha bits that would have been more accepable.
      Although the default bit set on the surge clones are fine but the wave clones is just 4 bits...

      then to me it is never about the tool, but to let others see what you spend on your tools. it is all show and tell. but if you are a fan of these things there is nothing wrong with spending a large amount of money, or if just have money to spend, all is good.

      I get specific at times but the problem is in the world of multitools, certain multitools with a very low price can't do the same things as a moderate priced multitools.

    I got a Ozarktrail Multiforce like 2 years ago and it's my go to emergency car multitool, I don't do a lot crazy work with it but I have used it over the years. I'm not planning on getting a new fullsized multitool till my ozarktrail breaks and the way it's been holding up I don't see it breaking anytime soon.

    I can't live without the scissors. My household does not put scissors away, ever, and finding a pair is always a hassle. When I got my wave I always had it on my belt and still to this day carry one most places because it has scissors. I had other multi tools since then without scissors and they never get carried around. Every multi tool I carry with me has to have scissors just for home use basically. I don't think I ever used scissors at work, lol.

    40 bucks or so for the harbor freight clone and multi force is around that too. Multiforce is a little fatter for the better bit holder, harbor freight's tool is close to wave and has a pretty nice gut hook/twine cutter/box opener added.

    I think Leatherman saw the eventual deluge of cheap copies that would come with the patent reaching maturity. They are trying to get people to think of themselves as top of the line / premium. But in doing so missed a huge opportunity. Until they bring out unique new tools, Leatherman will keep falling behind. They are just too overpriced for the market. They forgot who thier customer base is. The average worker, as compared to the edc collector.

    Wonder if that new plier head is made of a better metal than the flissa/bilbury. It's a shame the plier head is made of such soft metal on those.. The hinge mechanism wears out well before the replaceable cutter blades would.

      Probably a used Leatherman Wave is the best option because you can get them used on ebay for $50 or so if you wait long enough.
      Buying new, the Daicamping DL30 or the Bibury equivalent are about the best value for a larger heavier duty tool.
      The SQT I reviewed is far more capable than the Sog Powerpint and actually has more functions than the Leatherman Bond. If you want a more minimalist tool under 4" the Sog Powerpint is very good but again it is more of an oversized keychain multi tool. The Bond is a fantastic tool. You probably could get it used at a great bargain. Even an older Leatherman PST can be had for $25 on ebay if one waits long enough. So many great tools out there right now!!
