He probably inhaled some Meguiar's M688 Top Coat! I remember how high i felt the first time i saw the results of that on the 2017 MK7 GTI Clubsport you see at my Channel! ;)
Barry Meguiar is a good, decent man. If you ever have the pleasure of meeting him personally, you would know what I mean. He took his dad's business from selling products from the trunk of his dad's car to the juggernaut it is today. While I'm sure there will disagreements, I find his products substantially better than most and as his sales growth will attest, he is constantly looking to improve his product line. His polishing systems convinced me that even I can make my cars look their best. His stuff just works.
Laurie Pergamit I wish comments were more about the product, less about narrator. I just bought a black Dodge Challenger, & everyone has terrified me about washing it. I did watch the full tutorial, but was wondering from someone first hand which product they tried & liked the most. Any pointers?🤔
Spiritisalive1 as far as good products go though, I actually really like the ultimate compound if you have bad scratching and swirls, and I love their ultimate quick detailer. As far as the actual washing goes, I always use chemical guys waterless wash and wax with a microfiber towel.
Don't know why people are so put off by the narrator. He sounds happy. I'd rather listen to this guy than some monotone who sounds like they can't wait to finish. This guy sounds like he would be a pleasure to clean cars with.
Richard Roberts: He's an excellent announcer with a great speaking voice. Just needs to have the dentist fix his teeth that weren't done properly. Bad dentist.
For those of you saying these products don't work then you missed what he says at 1:43. Yes, there are better products out there but these also work when used correctly. The 2.0 is my favorite for light scratches.
Meguiar’s is my go to! Had a 99 Corvette with BAD swirl marks and scratches used the Scratch X and Swirl X car was completely changed! Will be doing the same with my Camaro tomorrow!
Clay will get rid of contaminants bonded to the surface of the paint (like tar and sap or paint overspray), while compounds and polishes are designed to remove imperfections and contaminants embedded within the paint. Like, if you have some dried up sap on your paint, you can use all the polish in the world and it won't come off very easily, and more importantly you'll put a lot more wear on your paint than would otherwise be necessary. Clay takes it right off though, saving a lot of effort.
Meguiars is great, I’ve used it on my first car. My first products I used was Crystal Car wash, Ultimate Quik Wax, ScratchX, Wheel & Tire Cleaner, and then the Gold Class Carnuaba wax in the tin. It worked great for me on my pocket and I’m glad I discovered a great product I still use today
My car is a 2017 Malibu premier black, hard to keep clean but dam sharp as hell when clean. The 2.0 scratch removal is an awesome product it does what it says, removes scratches very easily.
I've maintained my 6 year old car very well with a wide range of Meguiars products. Upside to this is that minor scratches, swirl marks, water marks, oxidized paint etc will be restored to its formal glory and the car looks like it just came out of a showroom. Downside is that there's over 200 over products from Meguiars and using one or two won't help you achieve anything. You really need to invest time and ALOT of money to maintain the condition of the car. Now that I think of it, getting a full car resprayed would have cost as much as the list of Meguiars products I have at home
Yeah that's really what people need to be talking about in the comments section because I still am not sure myself but he said the compound is stronger than the swirl remover but that the compound wouldn't remove scratches.
It showed a clay bar treatment being used in the video, but the narrator failed to mention it by name. Without using a clay bar on your vehicle prior to applying waxes and polishes, you're never going to get to the root of the problem. If anyone is watching this and planning on polishing, use a clay bar first to remove that layer of contaminants.
He quite literally mentioned it doesn't matter what products you use if you don't do the clay bar step correctly. He emphasized the importance perfectly well
First, as you can see this video is well over a decade old so the SwirlX does not even exist anymore. Secondly, no these products were not created to be used together in a system but were different options you might choose depending based on the severity of the defects in your paint. You would typically choose one of them that best fits your situation.
I've detailed cars for years. There is no rival to Meguiars. D. A. polishers are also far superior to hands. Especially black. I'm a customer for life. 😎
I don't know what to say, I watched a couple more videos of others using the 'Ultimate Compound' and they are having good results? One guy showed how he got the swirl marks out of a hood and another showed how he restored an oxidized paint job to looking fairly decent. Maybe I'm missing something and what I think are very minor clear coat scratches are something more that require a different process and product. I'm stumped now to be quite honest.
I have a question, so is the ultimate compound needed or used for water marks? I have these chrome portions of my car that are really tarnished by those darn stains, will that specific product do the job?
Meguiar's thank you for the reply! But I believe the affected areas, are actually plastic coated chrome finish. Like my car handles, and some other chrome coated plastic finishes
I like most of the products. Barry is a happy guy. He enjoys the cars, and is always giggling because he is giddy that we are spending millions on the products. It's reported that he sold the company (started by his father in 1901) to 3M in 2008 for upwards of $75,000,000..
Assuming you are referring to hand application? First, we cannot vouch for the safety of an unknown microfiber pad. Some are likely safe and some could indeed leave swirls. That being said, when applying compounds and polishes we really do recommend foam pads as they can be more effective and safer in some cases.
What polish is best to follow the Ultimate Compound besides the Ultimate Polish, if you want to machine apply the polish with your Professional polishes?
The Ultimate Compound is the most effective and still very much safe and easy to use so that is our typical recommendation for scratches and swirls across an entire vehicle.
All instructions I watched so far explain how to remove swirl marks, but do not explain the reason that the swirl marks disappeared. Is it because the polishing is thinning the clear coat to the thickness of the swirl "trenches" or because the polishing compound fills the "trenches"? Is there way to thicken the clear coat and make it harder to protect better the paint coat?
The M09 Swirl Remover is extremely mild as a combination of a cleaner and polish but also only works best with the use of a high speed rotary buffer. It would help with minor defects on some paints but you will likely be better off with a safe but effective compound like our Ultimate Compound.
The guy narrating is the owner of the company as I understand it, not a professional narrator. The comments are hilarious but kinda sad at the same time, seeings how he's laughing all the way to the bank and most commenting are not. And that's probably because he puts a smile on his face everyday to be successful, on top of working so hard and smart to be so successful, while some of those commenting probably don't even have a job. I've used his products with major success and they make the job extremely easy to get professional looking results, from wet sanding fresh black paint to the final glossy no swirl finish. All I used was Ultimate Compound after wet sanding and then Swirl Remover. If you want to complain, go get 3M's complicated multi-step, multi-digit labeled compounds and sponges and see how much of a headache and wallet drainer THAT is.
You can see swirl marks on white trucks too! I’m 18 and my parents got me a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 and it’s got 100k on it. I’ve been wanting to get rid of the swirl marks for so long and I’m about to go pick some of this product
ScratchX will work on window pillars. If they are clear coated you may use with a da polisher with a foam cutting pad. If they are glossy black plastic you may use it with a foam polishing pad.
Any help for us in India? Online stores like Amazon and eBay hardly stock enough of these products. I tried importing some (Ultimate Compound, Tech Wax 2.0), asking friends from the states to bring some (Pre-Glaze Wax), buying some from Amazon India (Meguiars Applicator Pads, Meguiars NXT Shampoo etc.) but sadly the ScratchX 2.0 and Swirlx are not available here. Any chance Meguiarsdirect would ship to India?
I am not really satisfied with what this video depicts. Got all these three products and tried to test on my car. it doesnt even make a difference. the swirls and scratches are still there. I didnt used the Clay Bar in the beginning. WIll use it next time and see if makes any difference. But I guess it wont make much of a difference. I Think I have wasted my money :/
+Danyiography Photos & Films Oh dear. The clay takes off the contaminants - if you don't take them off, you will create more swirls and scratches as you wipe and polish them all over the surface. Which part of "Surface preparation is the most important step when detailing a car" did you not understand? It's frustrating... :) I clay the paint after every wash, and even if it looks clean, you can always see how the clay picks up dirt, i.e the clay looks all dirty and grubby afterwards.
+Baerchenization i understand your point. currently busy in my exams. after that, will apply the clay first and then will polish using a Polisher. lets see.....
+Danyiography Photos & Films I am Compounding and polishing my car by hand with ultimate compound and polish it def works if the paint is prepped properly, obvs not as well as a machine but I have gotten out all the major swirls and damage so im happy. Just very time consuming! Ive put in prolly 25 hours. But both my parents have noticed a difference
I Know by hand is for fools and I am not one lol. it was done by angle polisher. but i realised my mistake. i didnt clayed the surface before polishing. so next time did that and now the results are better
Maguiar's products are easy to apply and even easier to buff off. i just don't like their high prices on everything but thanks to the internet us paupers can shop around better for sales.
So after a wash today, using Meguiar's wash and wax. I found a scuff down my entire passenger side. My 2024 is two weeks old. After the wash and before applying scratch x 2.0 is there anything else i should do to prep?
You would want to clay before using the ScratchX if you have bonded contaminants stuck to the surface. Here is a video that discusses exactly what claying and compounding do and when to do each... s.3m.com/uatf1uuz
hi I want to say I always love meguiars but lately i'm very disappointed on swirl remover I want to say it does not work I have put 5 layer on my new bmw and didn't change a bit using hand and machine very disappointed now trying out Chemical Guys to see does it work
hi megiuars don't worry I'm not looking refund I want to get a gd result to my car so you say to use ultimate compound will this work to remove swirl mark
hi I did use it dual action polisher it even use on my wind screen it even left more swirl mark on it that before what kind of things are you selling I don't mind even do a video of the your product to ppl to see how useless it is I looking for help I spend so much money buying your product to make my car shine now I have when more swirl mark than ever
Not sure what part of the video you are referring to? You may be referring to the short clip of a claying the car where the Quik Detailer (burgundy colored bottle) was being used a clay lubricant. If you are not familiar with clay here is a video that explains it... ruclips.net/video/u9ORdGDSF1I/видео.html
Anyone knows if SwirlX works on white paint too?, if not I will appreciate if there is a special product from Meguiars to remove those fine scratches from clear color paints
SwirlX will certainly work on white paint but keep in mind it is incredibly mild so you may need a more aggressive/effective product like our Ultimate Compound to remove the scratches. Also worth noting that SwirlX has been discontinued in many parts of the world including the US so you may not be able to find it anywhere.
Not saying anything about how he narrates. I am saying that the product just filled the scratches. I IPA'd the stuff off and the scratches were still there. I used the ultimate with a cutting pad and the swirls were gone. You are not going to remove swirls without a machine, even though they barely mention it, like an after thought.
Does the back dye penetrate through the clear coat and dye the base layer? How does it become more black if it lies upon the clear coat? Can you please explain?
Not clear as to your question, but there is no dye in this product. It is not dying the paint black, it is simply restoring and shining the paint which on a black paint will give the appearance of the paint being even more black.
Our Black Wax does not have black pigment in it? It simply has a lot of polishing oils which gives a great shine to black or darker colored paints. Also keep in mind most cars have a clear coat as their top layer of paint so a colored product would not even get to the base coat.
The thing i don't understand is why these scratches are appearing in 2k clear coated paintwork, this clear finish is supposed to be super hard and extremely scratch resistant?
Clear coat is paint and unfortunately can be scratched. Clear coats (paint) varies widely as to how hard it is. It may not make you feel any better but you should understand this is something we all battle.
my truck is pretty old. as per video of ChrisFix, he used Ultimate Compound, let it dry for few minutes. Then coat it Maguier's polish and finally seal it with Maguiers Ultimate Wax. I did the same. But Maguiers compound polish left some serious swirl marks on the doors which i still cannot remove it after giving it couple of washes. Any clues how to remove the swirl marks of maguier's compound polish ?
Unfortunately that is incorrect information. The compound and polish should not dry at all. They should be applied in no more than a 2' X 2' area and wiped off immediately before they have a chance to dry at all. If you let them dry they can be much more difficult to remove. The video below will show proper application of compound, polish and wax by hand. To remove the product residue now you can simply reapply a small amount of the product work it in a small area quickly and then wipe off immediately. The product should re-release and pull the dry residue off. You of course can rewash as well if that is easier. Here is that video on proper application of these products by hand... ruclips.net/video/6JwgXVz464Y/видео.html
@@meguiars Exactly. I followed the same products when doing on my own truck. But now I just realized that the mistake which I did while doing it by myself with hands. Maguier recommends to apply product on 2x2 foot area and remove it with mf towel immediately before the product get dry. But I was applying at one body panel at one time and temperature was like 39 degree Celcius that day. Hence polish was getting dry quickly and that is the reason the compound polish left the swirl marks on the body. But thank you v. much for your detailed reply. I will re-apply the product and will try to fix it.
can this work on the front windshield? I have swirl marks on it, can't see it during the day but at night it's noticeable with glare from oncoming cars
Ken Lawton do you have a poster of Barry Meguire in your garage? Because you seem overly obsessed with the guy. Enough so, that you felt the need to clarify just exactly who the narrator is and defend the way he speaks on at least 15 comments. I hope you're not offended. I just thought it was a hilarious observation.
@13b1cdw8g it's better it removes water spots oxidation swirls scratches and blemishes on clear coat paint and single stage paints so its basically all of them combined but remember ur removing a small layer of clear coat
Hi Marcela, we might direct you to contact our Solutions Hub for further assistance at 800-347-5700 or customercare@meguiars.com. It would be easier to walk you through potential variables & discuss your technique than through comments on here.
Yes, although, microfiber is more aggressive than foam, which means it will remove defect quicker, but is more likely to not leave behind as well of finish, especially on a dark color. This would mean you would have more time using a polish, like our Ultimate Polish, to remove any micro marr/hazing.
Jasmine Rogers claying it is to make sure when you compound(to remove clearcoat scratches and swirl marks) you dont add any,it takes all the abrasive dust and such off. Good Luck!
I'll make it simple for you, cause it doesn't seem like your getting a easy answer from these two. Just wash your car, clay it and if you see scratches use the compound but if you don't then just wax it. When you car gets dirty a week later ? just a regular wash is needed that's it.
The comment section is like every bully that’s ever lived and never matured mentally. They won’t be happy until everyone looks the same, speaks the same and acts the same, oh and they all think they’re the perfect model of how to be. Ridiculous.
the guy talking sounds like someone is continuously tickling his feet
He probably inhaled some Meguiar's M688 Top Coat! I remember how high i felt the first time i saw the results of that on the 2017 MK7 GTI Clubsport you see at my Channel! ;)
That is hilarious and completely true!
He is the owner
He sounds like Daffy Duck!
He took “its better to talk with a smile” a little too far.
Barry Meguiar is a good, decent man. If you ever have the pleasure of meeting him personally, you would know what I mean. Spiritisalive1 I'd be less terrified about washing it, and more terrified about the warranty going out
Spiritisalive1 as far as good products go though, I actually really like the ultimate compound if you have bad scratching and swirls, and I love their ultimate quick detailer. As far as the actual washing goes, I always use chemical guys waterless wash and wax with a microfiber towel.
Hey Barry, you're not fooling anyone.
Cool comment, thanks for posting.
Mr. Meguiar made me happy. This dude is constantly laughing.
Thanks!
He’s car crazy 😊
Schwirl marks and shcracths
Kyle Land lmao
Kyle Land I'm on the floor laughing
Kyle Land lmaooooo
Im in tears!!! Hahahah
Kyle Land 😂😂😂 mannn
I love this guys chuckly voice, he sounds so genuinely excited about what he's talking about hehe.
Don't know why people are so put off by the narrator. He sounds happy. I'd rather listen to this guy than some monotone who sounds like they can't wait to finish. This guy sounds like he would be a pleasure to clean cars with.
He's an easy target.
hahaha you made me legitimately LOL haha
For real. This guy lives and breathes cars and car care. His excitement is motivating to get out and get the ride looking good.
Not If he spits all over the car
Richard Roberts: He's an excellent announcer with a great speaking voice. Just needs to have the dentist fix his teeth that weren't done properly. Bad dentist.
Everyone in the comments are irritated because they scratched their car lol. We're all here for the same reason.
For those of you saying these products don't work then you missed what he says at 1:43. Yes, there are better products out there but these also work when used correctly. The 2.0 is my favorite for light scratches.

Wish Meguiar had little shops around the country that serviced everyone's car or trucks.
Why does he keep laughing while his talking? Gonzo.
David Handley , LOL
David Handley I think he's laughing because he's lying about how good it is.
Nicola Sturgeon
Then you've clearly never used their product lol it really is that good.
Pie Eyed No actually. I only use Meguiars. They really do make excellent products. Still...he's pretty weird.
Thanks for the feedback and kind words.
Your car must look great! 😀
Crystal car wash was great
What a happy older gentleman! Nice way to get people to buy the product! Happiness and a smile is key to sales! Excelsior!
Buddy laughing while talking is the greatest thing I’ve ever heard in meh lyfe
Wow 14 years ago amazing commercial I wish they would bring this style again
this guy needs new dentures. he spit all over the damn place narrating this.
Have you every seen his choppers?? They're bright white and enormous!
Ever eat an apple through a chainlink fence? He can show you...
bruhh I was thinking the same exact thing!!😂😂😂😂
Hey Joey...is that your body double or is it the result of to much buffing? L.O.L.

First Joey and know Vinny. I seriously need to start buffing. L.O.L.
Van Seaco hahaahah!!!
While speaking, there is a fine line between laughing/giggling due to excitement in promoting an outstanding product or just plain being deceitful.
I use the Ultimate Compound all the time and I've never had a problem getting a nice shine 👍💪
German muscle So does it need any claying or other process before you start working with the compound?
Thanks

THIS IS WHY I DIDNT WANT TO READ THE COMMENTS! NOW IM LAUGHING SO MUCH I CANT WATCH IT!
This Summer , Rob Scheinder is about to find out .....Hes a bottle of Meguiars Swirl Compound... Rated PEE-GEE 13.
I'm halfway in the video. All I've learned from a supposed instructional video to remove swirl marks, is what I should buy to make the company richer.
I use Meg's compound and it works amazing !
I'm in love with this narrator :)

I was waiting for Barry to tell a joke. He seemed so overjoyed and Blissful.

Question. Will Scratch X remove scratches on the window pillars?
ScratchX will work on window pillars. If they are clear coated you may use with a da polisher with a foam cutting pad. If they are glossy black plastic you may use it with a foam polishing pad.
so are you suppose to use them 1 after the other?
Im wondering what he's on if this is getting him jolly ?
Life!
does the scratch x 2.0 also removes swirl marks?
How does it differ from the SwirlX with regards to removing super fine swirls? Is Swirl X a finer compound than Scratch x2.0?
this guy voice gets to people but he’s way better than that guy from chemical guys named greg who always says microfiber like 300 times
It removes any contaminants and wax on the paint surface... if you do a search for meguires clay on here there's a decent video showing the process

if I'm only using elbow grease (no polisher machine) will I still have success??
Great products as always Meguiars!
Good video too...
Here is a video that discusses exactly what claying and compounding do and when to do each...

hi I want to say I always love meguiars but lately i'm very disappointed on swirl remover I want to say it does not work I have put 5 layer on my new bmw and didn't change a bit using hand and machine very disappointed now trying out Chemical Guys to see does it work

hi I did use it dual action polisher it even use on my wind screen it even left more swirl mark on it that before what kind of things are you selling I don't mind even do a video of the your product to ppl to see how useless it is I looking for help I spend so much money buying your product to make my car shine now I have when more swirl mark than ever
In this video, what spray product that he used as a prep before polishing and waxing the car? It is not clear on the screen.
Not sure what part of the video you are referring to? You may be referring to the short clip of a claying the car where the Quik Detailer (burgundy colored bottle) was being used a clay lubricant. If you are not familiar with clay here is a video that explains it...

It sounds like he's half in the bag for this entire commercial.
Yeah meguiars is good stuff i use ultimate compound its great
Best narrator
Truck is 3 weeks old just trying to get some small scratches out. I bought both products just in case.
Thanks! I will try to give it a try to find it
I accidentally used a green kitchen scrub to wash my truck and now it has horrible scratches. Will this product remove this?
You best bet is likely going to be our Ultimate Compound and here is a video that shows how best to apply it by hand...

@@meguiars Not this persee. But
Meguiar's G6207 Black Wax. With black pigment in it.
Our Black Wax does not have black pigment in it? It simply has a lot of polishing oils which gives a great shine to black or darker colored paints. Also keep in mind most cars have a clear coat as their top layer of paint so a colored product would not even get to the base coat.
Can you use scratch 2.0 for swirl and small scratch marks in the paint? Or use swirl x? Thx!
Still works.
Its like someone is tickling him while he is talking
theres a gerbil in his pants
Great video. Had no problem with the way the man spoke.
Is it Available in INDIA ?
I Like It Want To Buy It
what if i dont have a rotating machine. can i just hand buff it?

What combinations of products would you recommend for a scuff mark caused by a tire on a white plastic bumper?
Thank you. I'll give it a gentle wash and give that a shot.
Sure would be nice if you guys did a updated video.
There are many videos on our channel, many are new.
I love Meguiars in BRASIL...
can this work on the front windshield? I have swirl marks on it, can't
see it during the day but at night it's noticeable with glare from
oncoming cars
This guy needs to keep his hand out of his pants, while he is narrated the video.
lol....
LOL. I was about to comment on this but you have the best fitting comment :D
thats lol
Ken Lawton do you have a poster of Barry Meguire in your garage? Because you seem overly obsessed with the guy. Enough so, that you felt the need to clarify just exactly who the narrator is and defend the way he speaks on at least 15 comments. I hope you're not offended. I just thought it was a hilarious observation.
Let me guess all 3 have to be purchased.
@13b1cdw8g it's better it removes water spots oxidation swirls scratches and blemishes on clear coat paint and single stage paints so its basically all of them combined but remember ur removing a small layer of clear coat
Hi, thanks for the vid, I used it on my car but the scratches keep showing up again, no matter how many times I put it on, what do you think it is?
Hi Marcela, we might direct you to contact our Solutions Hub for further assistance at 800-347-5700 or customercare@meguiars.com. It would be easier to walk you through potential variables & discuss your technique than through comments on here.
Can I use microfiber applicator pad instead of a foam applicator pad
Yes, although, microfiber is more aggressive than foam, which means it will remove defect quicker, but is more likely to not leave behind as well of finish, especially on a dark color. This would mean you would have more time using a polish, like our Ultimate Polish, to remove any micro marr/hazing.
Meguiar's ok,thanks
Nothing screams salesman more than this guy
The scratch eraser kit will work?
That's why we made it! As long as the scratch is not too deep.
will this remove asphalt and some sold sticker recidue?
or only for Swirl Marks & Scratches
Chriss Eo Use "Goo gone"
I cannot stop laughing because he's laughing hahaha
Would scratch x2 work on light scratches on a black plastic bumper?
Only if the bumper is painted.
@@meguiars 👍 cheers
I'm a little confuse, should I clay it or us the ultimate compound ?
Jasmine Rogers claying it is to make sure when you compound(to remove clearcoat scratches and swirl marks) you dont add any,it takes all the abrasive dust and such off. Good Luck!
I'll make it simple for you, cause it doesn't seem like your getting a
easy answer from these two. Just wash your car, clay it and if you see scratches use the compound but if you don't then just wax it.
When you car gets dirty a week later ? just a regular wash is needed
that's it.
The comment section is like every bully that’s ever lived and never matured mentally. They won’t be happy until everyone looks the same, speaks the same and acts the same, oh and they all think they’re the perfect model of how to be. Ridiculous.
It can get a little crazy!
Meguiar's lol
I’m going to be trying to get the swirls n scratches out of my white camaro soon, got to get a buffer first.
