Sad to see that there are even people attacking this man in the comments, saying he should have saved for retirement or claiming he has mismanaged his money. Why assume the worst? Maybe this man had a good amount of money saved for retirement at one time. Maybe he needed a major surgery, or some person stole from him, or sued him..... You never know. One thing is for sure, this man deserves better!
If you ever travel to the EU you'll soon realize this is NOT the greatest country on earth.

This Man had a security clearance to work at a government installation for three decades. But yet now has to work for McDonald's for the rest of his life. This is the American Nightmare not the Dream.
No reason this man could not have saved money. I worked retail and I have a 401k and a Roth IRA that I contributed to and out of my Social Security I can put 20% in to savings every month but I also have a paid for mortgage a senior should not be paying a mortgage or rent on a low income
If he had merely saved 5% of his paycheck over the years he’d be sitting pretty good right now - we can’t save everyone from themselves……..🫤
No. I think he wasted his money. You do not work at a government job and not have a retirement ready for you after three decades.
He did it to himself. He had 6 decades to make some sort of plan but didn't. Maybe if he moved to a lower cost of living area he would do better. Government nor McDonald's has nothing to with this.
I hope you're working a shitty job when you're 82 and someone tells you it's your fault. Doesn't matter why, the man is an elderly combat veteran and shouldn't have to work at McDonald's to get by, even if he didn't make the best financial decisions. Jesus Christ, have a heart! 🤦🏼♀️@@ericeven4090

I’m not trying to be rude, but if you have not saved your money properly, spent everything you ever gotten. You’re not gonna be able to retire you have to make certain sacrifices and some people just don’t.
Some people are under the assumption that social security is supposed to be a retirement plan. They put in over half a million in their lifetime and then retire only to receive $2000 a month for the next 10 years or so until they die. The rest of that money goes back to the government.
