      This isn't me whining about having to work for a living. It's just sad that now even at one's old age. They cannot enjoy their golden years, it use to be that once one worked for over 40-50+ years. They could retire with some basic comfort.
      But now with our current economy,that no longer is the case for many

      Living in Vegas is not cheap but that's his choice to live there.
      All those years and he couldn't save I worked retail and have money saved but I live in Illinois with a paid for home where I guess it's cheaper here. You can't retire with rent or a mortgage

    I am a 100% disabled Navy veteran, and I am going to contact the local VFW in Henderson NV and talk with them and get a go fund me page for Edward started so he can retire and enjoy life, So how about a little action in Henderson Nv to help Edward because I live outside of Seattle Wa and saw this news story and I knew that us Veterans could help him out so please help the man out..NO VETERANS NO U.S.A. ☮

      Here’s the thing, many people did save and it doesn’t matter. The dollar now is not guaranteed to be worth the same in the future. That is the current issue we are facing. You can save $10 million dollars now and think you’re safe when in 10-20 years it could be worth $1 million. Do you see the problem? There’s never enough money

If Trump was still in office would be same issue, maybe if Trump did not ignore Covid 19 then all this inflation would not have happened. Trump does not care about average people just himself. Plus studies have shown, another Trump term will result in higher prices. Someone who can’t afford to pay a half million dollar judgement or a bond says one thing, he is not a successful businessman, if he was could afford to pay it.       It IS sad. Just the thought that someone in their formative working years, gainfully employed for "over three decades" didn't have the wherewithal to save for retirement is very, very sad. HOW is it slavery if someone didn't have the SENSE to save and invest, even ten bucks a pay period? Quit trying to put this anywhere than were it belongs, at this guy's feet.     Something doesn’t add up here. Why no questions about retirement from working at the proving ground? If he was a government worker he would be under the CSRS retirement which pays between 1.5 to 2% per year worked in annual retirement. If he was a contractor for that long he would have some type of retirement. This leaves more questions than answers.

    82 years old and still working. Yet, we have so many young able people who absolutely refuse to work. Sad to see that there are even people attacking this man in the comments, saying he should have saved for retirement or claiming he has mismanaged his money. Why assume the worst? Maybe this man had a good amount of money saved for retirement at one time. Maybe he needed a major surgery, or some person stole from him, or sued him..... You never know. Tax companies lobbied for our taxes to remain difficult, dealerships lobbied for cars to be sold through them and only them, big pharma lobbied to have the US Gov pickup the tab for their R&D costs so they could turnaround and sell it back to the American people for 2-100x more, healthcare insurance companies lobbied against insuring people with existing conditions, you see where this is going?       No reason this man could not have saved money. I worked retail and I have a 401k and a Roth IRA that I contributed to and out of my Social Security I can put 20% in to savings every month but I also have a paid for mortgage a senior should not be paying a mortgage or rent on a low income

      Some people are under the assumption that social security is supposed to be a retirement plan. They put in over half a million in their lifetime and then retire only to receive $2000 a month for the next 10 years or so until they die. The rest of that money goes back to the government. What a shame.

    My mother will be 96 in a few days…quite a bit of family wealth, fathers pension and Social Security…she works 20 hours a week because she enjoys it…i at 72 still work full time…I donate a large amount of my earnings and save the rest for the grand baby’s education…I enjoy working…sometimes it’s about not wanting to retire, not about needing the money.

    Lot of evictions in Las Vegas area since rent is too high including foods. I have retired so early ordered by my doctor since, my diabetes is getting worse. No choice and, I’m still keeping my two bedrooms home since 2012.

    I 100% feel for him. No one should be in that position. But at the same time, I’m appalled that someone stayed at a minimum wage job that long? How was it not possible for him to take classes part time at a community college or something? Everything was significantly cheaper back in the day and I find it ludicrous that one couldn’t look at other options.
