All about pitch placement as well. May not of struck out that many, but forced a lot of weak contact that lead to soft flys or short hoppers to the infielders.
Finally things are going right for the Angels, both offense and Defense working out. Is amazing congratulations from a Red Sox fan. You deserve to celebrate. Funny enough this amazing strech come after Seager got the Bond's treatment.
Great to see the Angels aren’t playing bad I hope Mike Trout plays in October & congrats to Reid Detmers having a no hitter it’s the most difficult to get in baseball.
I agree, I want to see Trout and Ohtani in October badly! P.S. just wanted to correct you that the most difficult thing to do in baseball is actually a perfect game
@@GoingMach5 because when it comes to a no hitter you never know what to expect you can’t expect everyone of these games to be a no hitter every game & when it comes to a perfect game it’s difficult because you got to have no errors in a perfect game & that’s entirely difficult.
Damn these Angels never go away which I love especially Reid wit his no-hitter and his defense behind him was great or outstanding even tho I'm not an Angel's fan I still love the team and all their players and especially their manager
An interesting thing to note is that the majority of the pitches that were hit (with a few exceptions) were either mostly off the plate, not in the heart of the plate, on the corners or off-speed. I didn't see too many fast balls that were in the zone (I assume those would have been hard hit)
It's always interesting to see when the ball is hit behind the pitcher and they try to backhand catch it. That would not be my instinct if I was pitching a pick up game of baseball. Just shows how much that stuff is drilled into them
love that it was a total team effort, while detmers shows that good pitching doesn't always need to mean triple digit heaters and swing-miss strikeouts
@@lance.da.legend9837 well no, i'd like you to explain the correlation between having class and being unemployed. or whatever lame point it is, that you think you're making.
According to reddit they haven't been victim of one in 10 years before yesterday. Didn't look it up myself but I wouldn't see the reason the Rays fans would lie when you could Google it.
MLB should be paying a pitcher $2,500,000, tax-free and not against the team's salary, for a solo no-hitter, and $10,000,000 tax-free and not against the team's salary for a perfect game. A team that pulls a player while they could potentially have a no-hitter or perfect game (they've completed at least 5 innings) should have to pay that player out of their own pockets as if they had completed the feat.
Why is something called a no hitter when pretty much everyone hit the ball? Shouldn't it be if you get everyone out with strikes only? Yes I don't know anything about baseball
Congrats to Ried but I think a lot of this had to do with Tampa just not putting good swings together. A lot of those pitches looked like meatballs that should've been taken for a ride instead of popping up.
If a pitcher walks someone, I don't consider that a no hitter. Also, the Rays had a lot of good contact on his pitches. This may have technically been a no hitter, but I give 99% of the credit to the rest of the team, not Detmers.
How is this a no-hitter? I thought to be a no-hitter the pitcher has to strike out all the batters (no hits). This seems to be a perfect game because Tampa was hitting the balls, but not getting to the bases. Can someone explain?
The current Major League Baseball definition, since 1991, of a no-hitter is "a game in which a pitcher, or pitchers, gives up no hits while pitching at least nine innings. A pitcher may give up a run or runs so long as he pitches nine innings or more and does not give up a hit."
@@hillaryh2641 It’s hard to explain, but one example is a player hitting the ball (in the air) right to third base and the third baseman gets a glove on the ball, but drops it. That’s not considered a hit for the hitter, it’s considered an error. He didn’t deserve to get a “hit” in the record book because it was a very catchable ball, but the third baseman just messed up. Does that make sense? So he hit the ball, but it doesn’t count as a hit. It’s so complicated!!!
Only 2 strikeouts! That’s great defense from the Angels!
yeah that no hitter was definitely a team effort lol
@InjunJoe 1 walk
Outstanding! that Rendon leap at 3rd was a great play then Walsh rolling out to get that grounded past 1st was sweet too
Best kind of No Hitter. Team no hitter.
All about pitch placement as well. May not of struck out that many, but forced a lot of weak contact that lead to soft flys or short hoppers to the infielders.
Nice too see a pitcher that pitches to contact...have a great team behind him...go halos...!!!
@Blia Yang usually pitchers try and strike out batters, but you can also pitch to contact which makes batters hit balls for easy outs
Finally things are going right for the Angels, both offense and Defense working out. Is amazing congratulations from a Red Sox fan. You deserve to celebrate. Funny enough this amazing strech come after Seager got the Bond's treatment.

Good to see Joe Maddon let him pitch the whole game. Tired of seeing pitchers with no-no's being pulled in the middle innings.
It helped that the pitch count wasn't ridiculous. Having only 2 strikeouts certainly aided that.
This was such a fun game, so happy I was there!
I was too! what an amazing game!
you got to see a no-hitter, Trout hit two home runs, and Rendon bat for the first time in his career left-handed and hit a home run doing it.
Been there done that ha ha was there also
Congrats!!!
Ohtani's mvp ceremony brought many Angels fans to the ballpark. And everyone witnessed a historic day, Ohtani is truly loved by the baseball gods:)
