I'm forty-one, and this is the first Os no-hitter in my lifetime. Nearly achieved immortality with a perfect game. I wish Jim Palmer had called this game.
Whether if it's a No Hitter, or a near perfect game: as an O's fan I'm appreciating the fact this man has gotten better, and is a legit #1 ace for this team. 26 out of 27 first pitches for a strike.
So happy for John means. This should’ve been a perfect game. One of the most dominant no hitters I’ve ever seen since kershaws. There was absolutely no hard contact on anything except Kyle Lewis’s fly ball to left. Other than that it was strikeouts, pop ups, and weak grounders. Usually during a no hitter the defense always makes one or two no hitter saving plays. I guess you can kind of say the urias back hand wasn’t too routine but any big leaguer should make that play and the Mullins sliding catch. Happy for John Means. Finally the Orioles have an ACE!
Severino is a bad defensive catcher and everyone who watches the orioles knows this. If chance sisco was catching this game then it would’ve been a perfect game. Sadly, severino thinks jumping away from a breaking ball in the dirt is the way to block it instead of squaring it up with your chest. I’ll never forgive severino for this.
@@thorner-kr5hw it has to be galaraga and then means because means was technically an error on severino. Galaragal was just an unfortunate event out of his control
I agree. But who knows maybe if he wouldn’t have thrown that pitch then it wouldn’t have gone on to be a no hitter. Unless it’s like the last out of the game you never know what COULD have happened.
@@paigeschlyer7531 yes of course! First of all, a no hitter is a good thing and big achievement for a pitcher. It is when they don't allow the other team to get any hits. They may allow baserunners from walks or errors (technically), but the other team doesn't get any hits. Typically an "official" no hitter means that the pitcher pitches the entire game.
@@paigeschlyer7531 and then a perfect game is even better--the pitcher retires 27 straight batters (thru 9 innings pitched) without allowing a single person to reach base.

Wow, got lucky with one mistake changeup in the middle of the plate. Great looks with the changeup, had the batters fooled almost every time. That mariners hitting coach needs to be talked to though. The launch angle from the batter's swings was awfully uppercut, resulting in many pop ups for no reason at all.
After you see consistent performance like this from a pitcher on a mediocre team, it really makes you think he’s going to a team like the dodgers. Smh.
Severino's poor defense really messed up John Means' perfect game bid. Had this been Chance Sisco like someone said, this likely wouldn't have happened. A win is a win, but perfect games and no-hitters are rare so him messing this up like this is a travesty.
Severino is such a bad defensive catcher. Who jumps back with their glove sitting behind their thighs hoping the breaking ball in the dirt magically lands in it? That’s why you use your chest to block it. Catching 101. He just cost John means his perfect game.
Really weird as an O’s fan to have a legit starting pitcher that we drafted in our rotation... keep going Meansy 💪💪💪
