Good morning Mr Walt, I'm glad you got back to this saw. In the near future I will be looking for a top hand saw so this video is just what I was waiting for. My Dad and I have an old Echo cs 3400 that was my Grandfathers and it slowly wearing out (that and I want another saw).
I got my G2500, today. Ordered it with the 12 I combo bar and chain. All I got was the chain and scabbard - no bar. It runs good and I did mix the 25:1 in their little bottle. I did use Stihl HP two cycle oil. I put two tanks through it with the chain brake on. Had to drop the idle down a bit. Got the dogs on it. Mine oiled fine. Had a puddle under it before I turned the chain break on. I had to lube it up quite a bit to get it to work. Damn that thing is hard to disengage. I finally put some wheel bearing grease on that white piece at the bottom of the handle and that helped, but it is still stiff. I see what you mean about bar mounting on this saw. Those bolts are a little small to fit into the slot on a Stihl bar. I had a couple of bars off my 015 and the would wobble like a ho in church. I am going to see if I can find a bar that fits it, tomorrow. Huztl is like an insurance company. The only thing they know how to do is collect money and deny claims. They wanted me to take a picture of the wrong sprocket they sent me for my 361. The sent a spur sprocket instead of a rim sprocket. Did you find out how to set the G2500 up for cold weather. The picture was so small my magnifying glass was still not enough and their description sucked.
Look forward to seeing in the trailer....it's a right job for tidying bows/branch's , feed it with left hand and cut with right ,straight into barrow...
Thanks for the info on this saw. I was looking at it but did not want to pull the trigger until i saw one in action. I was wondering if you could do a video on how YOU "tweak and tune a saw"? I have searched other sites but just want to get an idea on what your listening for and how you go about tuning. Keep the videos coming!!!!! :)
Been waiting for this. I have the 38 and 45 en route. Didn't order the 58 because I waited a week for them to tell me if it was based on the 5000 or the 4500. Never got back to me so I'll hold off for now. Now....tear that dang thing apart!
I had to put a 12 inch Oregon bar on my 2500 because FT shorted me the bar. I had to put a 46 DL chain on the Oregon bar, even though it called for a 45 DL chain. I see what you mean about the bolts - they are sleazy. They actually should use three screws instead of two. The mixing container they give you is a little sleazy, too. I almost collapse it putting the top back on. The 2500 runs great and starts easy. I cut off a few little stumps in the yard and it did excellentl. Oiled fine via my 91 series bar.
I Read the info with the saw it does not take regular bar oil, only 10-w30 I put in 10-30 in mine and it oiled right away. Sorry if this was brought up before I didn't read any other comments. Update: after 6 months the coil went out , no spark I am waiting on a reply from manufacturer, they don;t list parts for this saw only the original ones they copied.
I ordered a g2500, today, but I did order the Jon cutter bar and chain with it instead of putting an Oregon bar on it like you did. I think this is where you had problems with the bar - the slot was a little big for thebsaw. It will get Stihl bar oil and two cycle oil, just as all my other two cycle stuff. I will mix up a batch of 25:1 for the first few tanks but after that it will get my standard 50:1 brew. I never did run
I've really enjoyed (is that the right word?) mine as it has worked quite well. Having been required to repair a few of the "established" brand top handles...I appreciate this little saw even more..:) While not a power house, I find myself using it more and more...maybe its time to get another and start tweaking it...:) ( If u don't beat me to that process )
Put a little kerosene in regular weight bar oil when used in cold weather or buy Poulan bar oil - it is thinner than water. In cold weather I just add a littlebit oF kerosene to the tank of any saw I am using in below freezing weather. That’s a good looking little saw.
I had the same problem with my 455 the other day. I had adjusted the carb at 32 degrees and had to use it at around 70 degrees. It cranked up fine and ran fine but it would not stay lit if I sat it down to move some wood around. It would crank right up with or without the deco button being in, but I later leaned out the low side a bit so it would stay lit in more or less typical winter weather at my location.
nice little saw walt .not bad for just showing up on the door step .can u send me a site to find it .if i was interested in getting one .have a great sunday all
I had the same oiling problem with mine. There was a clog, looked like fine rubber debris, in the line between the reservoir and pump. Hard to tell from the video but it looks like you blew air into the line instead of removing the filter on the line in the tank and blowing out. Then reinstall the pump, second line and other parts.
Love this little saw. Since I got it the carb settings will not allow it to idle. (Chain keeps spinning). Does anyone know the factory carb settings for all 3 adjustment screws?
I got one and the Oiler was working the first time I used it then the second time I used it it wasn’t working so I’ll dig into it and see what’s up. I came back to this video bc the time I watched it before I think the oiler wasn’t working. I’ll have to see what he did again.
How is the Joncutter g2500 holding up? I just got mine 2 weeks ago and it starts first pull every time and seems to rev right up with great throttle response and cuts well too. Just wondering how long it will hold up though. Appears you like and use it frequently. Thanks for the videos you make they are great.
If I use 50:1 (2%) alkylate gasoline, should I put in more 2-stroke oil? 25:1 seems a bit “fat” and smokey after the break in period. What’s your general thoughts about alkylate as saw fuel? /J from Sweden
i have one of these cannot get it to stay running or chain moving. What was the fuel mix you put in, i looked at the actual book and it said 25 to 1. I am guessing you did not like your comments since they sent it to you for review. The angle of the camera is not good. It is hard to see what you are doing and would have been better with the audio on. Did you put that foam piece back inside?
oiler is not working properly......worked at first but not anymore. Drained tank and put 10w30 in and watched it come out the hole when running without bar. Went to cut the next day in 40 degree temps and it would not oil.
Hi Walt. Which of farmertec kit you can recommend for first time builder. I am interested in building only. I mean I don't really need a saw, I just curious.
Walt, I know this isn't anything to do with this video, but you and Bob know more about this equipment than anyone I can find. I need to know the max rpm on my jonsered 2165. I have found anywhere from 9000 to 13,500. Can you or bob let me know or do a video on that saw. I would like that. Anyway, if you or anyone can help. Thanks
ON the "Original Edition" 48mm Husqvanra 365 and Jonsered 2065 & 2165 set the no load at 12,500. Its the 50mm "Original Edition" 372xp cs2071, and cs2171 that are set at 13,500. All the X-torq's Husqvarna 365/372 & Jonsered 2166&2172's need to be set at 13,000 or less even if factory specs say 13,200. Their ignitions are rev limited to 13,300. 13,000 for X-torqs for other reasons.
I believe I bought one of these off of eBay before hutzl started selling them as jonesred clones. Mine looks identical to yours. It was about the same price as hutzl charges. One thing I didn't like is the screws that hold the dog teeth in place just screw into the plastic of the motor casing. Seems flimsy. Also, getting the side cover/brake assembly back into place was a pain. The cover on mine has a little plastic tab on the rear that has to be inserted while you are lining up the brake strap and getting it to slide onto chain bar bolt. Kind of a pain. Would not want to have to do it on a freezing day in the field. That being said, I like it a lot, especially for the price. Just curious, are there any potential negatives to running a saw without a chain hooked onto sprocket? It doesn't hurt it to run without a load?
I struggled a bit with the bar and chain. And yes, looks like a gazillion other folks wrapping their stickers around the same saw..:) Thinking of making an adapter style piece that would be held on with the screws holding the "plate" ( guide plate) that would let you put the bar on and hang it where its now straight vs. flopping around. Maybe even a couple of little bushings on those screws to do the same. would make putting the B&C on a LOT easier!
Hey. Do you have any reason to bealive that the Joncutter G2500 is better than the rest of the chinise Zenoah G2500 clones? I just ordered one with bar n chain for 70$ with 3 year warranty.
I've been waiting for one of these for 3 months due to shipping issues, should have it next week tho, I ordered the cheapest one off aliexpress, never got it then ordered one off ebay, I could've waited and got it from hutzl lol. I want to use mine maintaining atv trails, being able to hold the tiny trees or branches with one hand and cut them with the saw in the other is way easier than using a full sized saw, these do have their place like you said. Do you plan on reviewing the other joncutter saws? They're pretty much twins to the Chinese saws I have, IMO they're alright for guys who don't run their saw for a living, I think the plastic will break easy if you drop them it seams flimsy but im easy on my saws that way. I don't get why they have 45 and 58cc versions tho, they're the exact same weight and size so why buy the one with less displacement? I only have a 4500 because it was given to me. PS the 45 is quite a bit faster with 3/8lp like the 38 has.
I finally got my saw, its dark red but otherwise the same as yours. Like yours its didn't oil at first, I sprayed the chain with lube and ran the saw for a minute then it started oiling fine, the cheap pump just needs a minute to prime.
I understand completely! You do seem like you've got a lot on your plate! haha If you get the chance definitely try it out! It is a highly impressive saw! I think you would be impressed. Love your review and insight! Thanks for taking the time to respond.
I love this saw and the price but the only thing holding me back is the 25:1 fuel mixture. everything I own is 50:1 and I don't wanna be mixing a separate batch of fuel just for this saw.
Good morning Mr Walt, I'm glad you got back to this saw. In the near future I will be looking for a top hand saw so this video is just what I was waiting for. My Dad and I have an old Echo cs 3400 that was my Grandfathers and it slowly wearing out (that and I want another saw).
It going to be a great 4-Wheeler saw! Thanks Walt!

You are so right about the different types of screw heads, but that's life, and only you and I care....
Ordered mine but haven't received it yet. Hoping to strap it to my sled/utv for clearing trail. Looks like it might be a steal for the price.
Look forward to seeing in the trailer....it's a right job for tidying bows/branch's , feed it with left hand and cut with right ,straight into barrow...

I might just have to get my wife one. We'll see.

Having Carb adjustment issues. Idling way too high, chain doesn't stop. Do you know the factory carb settings for all 3 screws?
Good Saw.👍

Run it with 10w30 I tried regular bar oil no oil, ran it with 10:30 and it oiled fine . Instructions say to use 10w30 too
Have one to review soon
Looks good from here? Only time will tell?
Love this little saw. Since I got it the carb settings will not allow it to idle. (Chain keeps spinning). Does anyone know the factory carb settings for all 3 adjustment screws?
General rule of thumb is clank all 3 all the way down and back them out one and a half and go from there
I got one and the Oiler was working the first time I used it then the second time I used it it wasn’t working so I’ll dig into it and see what’s up. I came back to this video bc the time I watched it before I think the oiler wasn’t working. I’ll have to see what he did again.
What husky bar did you get to fit on there?
The more you use it the more power you'll get out of it from what I hear. Good video brother thank you for posting

After seeing this, I just think I might try to score one for Xmas.

How's it dealing with the tab, loose bar nut and separate screw and washer every time you take off the chain?
PITA
Hi Walt. Which of farmertec kit you can recommend for first time builder. I am interested in building only. I mean I don't really need a saw, I just curious.
372
372 for sure, i had mine together in about 3 hrs on my computer desk
Walt are the chainsaw repair tools that they sell any good? Like the husky case splitting tool?
They are a little crude but look to be useful. I will use them and see over time if they last. So first impression is they are ok, time will tell.
Walt, I know this isn't anything to do with this video, but you and Bob know more about this equipment than anyone I can find. I need to know the max rpm on my jonsered 2165. All the X-torq's Husqvarna 365/372 & Jonsered 2166&2172's need to be set at 13,000 or less even if factory specs say 13,200. Hello,
I was wondering if you used the 25 to 1 mixture or a different mix ratio? Would it be fine with 50 to 1
32:1 is what I use. Would use less oil than a 40:1 if I was asked, wouldn't use any more than the 32:1 I use.
@@afleetcommand its a strange mix but it comes with a neat mix container, add oil to line and fill with gas.
The throttle automatically releases the choke, or it's supposed to.
Hey. Do you have any reason to bealive that the Joncutter G2500 is better than the rest of the chinise Zenoah G2500 clones? I just ordered one with bar n chain for 70$ with 3 year warranty.
no, all pretty much the same with different decals
@@afleetcommand That's what i thought, thank you for confirmation.
The plastic appears to be better on the Jon cutter. The no name eBay one I bought runs good but the bright orange plastic looks cheap.
I've been waiting for one of these for 3 months due to shipping issues, should have it next week tho, I ordered the cheapest one off aliexpress, never got it then ordered one off ebay, I could've waited and got it from hutzl lol. No Idea, not on the radar but you never know. I'm open to all brands, just pretty busy with whats on the plate where I don't hunt for more projects.
The saws all say 25:1. Just run 40:1 or 50:1. 25:1 is for low quality chinese oil
