Where do you even buy the parts necessary to build a keyboard? Haven't found any good websites. And are there parts for 100% keyboards or is it pretty much only 60% form factors?
A lot of these keyboards are sold in group buys but there are a decent number of in stock 75% and TKL's out there, depends on what you are looking for exactly. Off the top of my head Keycron makes some 100% boards (though they might not be considered custom) and wasdkeyboards does as well, there are probably other out there but I'm a TKL guy so don't know offhand.
@@josefishak2810 That would be an ic (interest check), a group buy is a limited window to order the item, after the group buy ends the vendor produces the item (which can take anywhere from a few months to forever) then ships them out.
Hey dude, I like your content and I also have a question: I am considering join in a GB cycle8 and the option i love cost me around 400$, it quite expensive and i confused that spend 400$ for a custom keyboard is worth? Right now im using Crush80 but i love Cycle 8 so so much. The reason why i considered is i am an economy user XD and i think i can purchase other things with 400 bucks, whether I should spend 400$ for a coustom keyboard ? Your advice help me a lot of, many thanks.
I would love to help, but I must ask; How do you get it to $400? The top configuration ignoring the HE PCB only goes up to $251. Even with the HE PCB, it's only $360 (when I say "only", I mean relative to the $400 price point. I know $251 is not cheap)
@@thatFarHunt i ordered one from deltakeys in europe and the base kit was 200€. With my add ons (cream color, brass weights, brass battery cover, iso tri mode hotswap pcb) i payed 300€ without shipping
Custom keyboards are built to last, that's why you need 50 of them

@@nadtz what is a group buy? Like if enough people order they produce the board?

@@josefishak2810 pretty much yeah, but the caveat is they usually have a lot of leadtime typically 3-6 months
look at keyboard kits from different vendors those will give you all the parts you need apart from switches and keycaps most of the time
