Im Australian and have an 8m old, we started solids at 6 months and bought a little fridge magnet with all the different whole foods to mark off. It’s actually helped us add variety into our meals! We mostly do babyled weaning, I just modify what we eat to be safe for our son. As a mum with PPD/A,this has been so much easier. We only really make some purées to mix with foods ie. pumpkin/lentil scrambled with eggs (I quite enjoy this on toast too!). Do whatever works for you mama! Every family and baby are different 🥰- Hannah
My tip for starting foods is to keep it as similar to what your eating as much as possible, I found that the easiest. When I had to make my son his own thing it was so much more work and often I ended up not eating for that meal lol. In the very beginning I would introduce one food of what I was having and usually in puree form. Good luck with introducing foods! It's so fun seeing your baby try different flavors and their reactions 😁
I haven’t been this early for one of your videos in ages. I’m so glad to see you enjoying motherhood - thank you for bringing us along for the journey 🤍☀️
I know I say this all the time but I love your videos, and they make me extra excited to become a mom💛 Thank you for sharing these parts of you life with us💕
Hi Michelle! My baby is 7 months, and we are doing a mix of BLW and spoon feeding, I choose how to offer each food depending on how easy it is to grasp, how my baby likes it, and how much of a hazard it feels like… 🙈 I use the app Solid Starts to check how to cut things, and also I prep meals and freeze them using a cupcake tray (and then transfer them to ziplocks) so I have a good stock of mini purees/ mini muffins/ mini quiches… Trust your instincts, have fun in the kitchen and take a lot of messy pictures! This season is so much fun 🥹💕 I Hope you enjoy this new journey! Just take it easy and trust your baby 💗
I used the app BLW. We loved it! It is baby led weaning, but it gives you a 30 day schedule for starting solids and tells you how to prepare them, etc 😊
Totally agree w not having the black and white thinking in parenting! We just started big boy food and have done a combo of BLW and foods that are naturally purées - like sweet potato, oatmeal, avocado, etc! It’s worked well for us so far :)
We got approved for solids around 5 months I did solids for the first month and changed the consistency from smooth to chunky as my daughter learned the mechanism of eating then introduced the solids like avocado eggs steamed veggies etc. I would recommend a floor mat under the high chair or a catch all tray makes clean up easier!! And as you been doing all along follow his cue he’ll be the best person to tell you what’s working and what isn’t 😊😊😊😊
My daughter is almost the same age as Connor and it is really reassuring to see the same highlights and struggles that you are having as a young family (e.g. bedtime becomming more difficult as of lately). Thank you for sharing!
Hey Michelle! 💞 I have an almost 11 month old baby boy and starting food was so intimidating for us, too. We started on store bought purees and then mashes that I’d make (potatoes, sweet potatoes, avocado, banana, etc.) and that worked so well to help him learn to “chew” after awhile. Once he developed his pincer grasp around 8-9 months we moved to small pieces of food he could pick up and have not looked back! Never had an issue with gagging either and food at first really is exploratory and fun for them 🥰 Now he eats whatever we’re having but at first I would tailor our meals a bit more toward things easy for him to eat and pick up. It can be a lottt at once when starting but you will do great!
Wanted to add a comment regarding the grass growing since you gave birth. I believe that “ love” is felt in houses and nature . Your love you brought to your rental home just made the house come alive and reflect the love your house holds within ❤❤❤
We follow solid starts! And we do pouches for convenience which is glorified baby food 😂 we use those whenever we’re out and can’t piece together some bites of our food (ie we get a burger and fries)
You are my inspiration ❤ i have been watching since you were in New York. I love your videos 😍 you are full of light! ❤❤ I wish the best for you and your family ❤
We did a combo to our level of comfort around 6 months! My baby is 7 months and loves food and almost demands to be a part of meal time! It’s kind of unusual, but she did better with smaller bites broken for her than the large pieces. You will know exactly what works for Connor after a few weeks of watching him. We keep little spoon pureés on hand for on the go or when others feed her. For us, we try to keep her diet 80/20 balanced/processed (puffs, pouches) just like we would for ourselves 😊
We did a combination of purees and BLW and it worked so well for us because it was very low pressure and flexible. After about 2 months of introducing different foods and allergens we mostly did BLW because I was much more comfortable. We absolutely loved following Solid Starts too to learn all things BLW, but this was before the app so I’m sure it’s improved the process even more! Excited for you guys because it’s such a fun milestone! 😊
I absolutely love your videos! My Austin is just a couple of months younger than Connor so it's been cool feeling like we've been going through this whole pregnancy, post partum motherhood thing together! Your first few post partum videos had me in tears. I felt very much like you did emotionally. I appreciate your videos and realness so much. Much love to you guys!
Thank you for this cute video, Michelle. I love ALL your mom videos as a mom of a 3 months old myself 😊. So happy to have experienced pregnancy and a newborn at the same time with you. I would love to see a routine video about how you and Aiden co-parent. Of course within the boundaries of Aiden’s privacy. Thank you 😘
I have a 6 month old and feel EXACTLY the same way about the word "feeding!" Even if she's nursing, I just call it breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner, etc. 😆
I did a mix of blw and purées. Immersion blenders make it such an easy process if you want to make the purées. And I did the Feeding Littles class before and found it really helpful. Along with the solid starts app (tells you how to serve foods at certain ages)!
With our boys we did purées early to add calories with our first (ped recommended on top of full formula feeds). With our second we tried a couple of purées at 6 months and he refused them, so we just started with soft foods. It wasn’t fully baby led weaning but just the soft foods that we were eating or steamed veggies. Both of mine were eating a variation of almost all of our food by 8 months.
Hey Michelle! Do you mind sharing where your patterned claw clip that you’re wearing during the farmers market trip is from? So cute!!! Also love you long sleeve floral jammies if you have the link to those! ❤
We did baby led weaning. I used the Solid Starts app as my bible for the first 6 months of my baby eating! Lol. It was such an awesome experience for our baby to eat what we were eating with us. And she still does. She loves eating all of our food and she is open to all food and is not aversive to anything. BLW was successful in our case & I will definitely be doing it with our next!
I have tried a mix of things with starting food. But have found anything I can mash has worked best. Then they can use their hands or be spoon fed and practice chewing. Ours prefers an open cup to a sippy but we’ve used both Ours hates her high chair so that made it more difficult. Screamed like crazy being put in the chair, still does sometimes. That being said it took 2 months before she had any measurable intake of solids. Found that giving her a toy helps getting her to sit.
Okay I'm glad it's not just me with nuuly issues! My sister has used nuuly for a year and had the same experience as you with things being new and good quality - but I started 2 months ago and have had so many issues. Multiple pieces were torn, they forgot to send pieces, things are dyed an off color, super worn etc. I'm liking it for being postpartum but am disappointed by the quality!
We had a few tornado watches in April too. The rainiest and warmest April on record here! I know there are still some upcoming in TX so stay safe! Love your daily vlogs the most especially because we have sons 3 weeks apart. I had him try purees starting 4 months of age because he showed he was ready, he loves it. He has two bottom teeth that have been working on coming in the past month and now they're right at the top (almost out) Goodness they're growing up too fast
The baby silicone feeders (like a pacifier with holes) are amazing to start if he is also teething. I mush banana in then freeze it. You can mush in strawberries, grapes, watermelon, avacado, steamed sweet potato, etc
Solid starts is perfect! I bought their courses, which were great (but not necessary) and I love love love their app. I also enjoy following feeding littles!
M that is the most beautiful dress I have ever seen on you. Like that was equivalent to wedding dress gorgeous. I loved how simple and flattering it was on you. Just absolutely beautiful 😍
I did baby led weaning with my first daughter, I just had my second in February. But my first did so so well on BLW, she eats anything, not picky at all. The only thing she won’t eat is raw onions, but loves them pickled or cooked. I think a huge part of her being so open and accepting of foods is the BLW, and also that I’ve never made her separate meals. She eats what my husband and I eat. I’m going to do the same with my second when that time comes. I used the Jennifer House “The Parent’s Guide to Baby-Led Weaning” as my reference to get started.
I was really nervous starting BLW! But I followed my instincts and my baby’s cues and did majority soft foods and purées, then worked up to more “solid” food. Their little tummies also can’t handle a lot of denser food either so I just went at my own pace :)
Hi Michelle! I love tuing in and seeing what is new in your world, thank you for always being so thoughtful with your content. I too had issues with Nuuly last year and ended my subscription as a result. The quality and availability of pieces were a continuous problem for me, maybe a different rental company will be in our near future?!? Didn't see the shop listed for the farmer's market stand selling vintage clothing? All the best to you and your family ♡
I stopped using Nuuly because I felt like almost everything I was getting was way too worn looking, the sweaters were pilling and the fabrics felt kinda rough from being over laundered I think. I was so bummed cause I LOVED it in the beginning too!
I get it about the words that annoy you. We have a list in our house with the words slacks, trunks (men's bathing suit) and flapjacks in the lead hahahha
No me actually in the middle of making that half baked harvest dish that Kristin johns recommended while you were taking about it 🤣🤣 I did read comments that it was a little bland so will be upping the seasonings, chicken broth instead of water in the rice, hopefully won’t be too bad
I've only been having horrible luck with my Nuuly orders the last few months - either things I want are never in stock in my size or the things I do get are just not it - definitely a lot of worn out items
Michelle! I NEVER comment on anything...just a silent long-time follower :) I love and so resonate with your content as I became a mom this past year in August, too. Haha I just had to say that I also tried the one pan lemon yogurt chicken, rice, and broccoli recipe and thought it was so bland. Was a bit underwhelmed and disappointed after having high expectations from Kristin sharing it. Figured I missed a step or some seasoning....but good to know I wasn't alone! Ha!
An enjoyable video again!! Glad to be able to just hear your perspectice again. Do you plan to share how your faith has changed after becoming a mother?
We started around 6mo. I was going to be the mom who made all her baby food and made a few purees.. my child had other ideas, never liked purees, never ate them.. so we went to baby led weaning and never looked back.. lol sometimes we forget the baby also has an opinion lol 😆
My Nuuly is different every month. Sometimes I get a lot of new with tags items and others I find some worn pieces. I don’t think it’s gotten worse lately. Maybe you’ve had a coincidental series of bad experiences.
I loved nuuly at first but stopped using it last month. I also felt the quality of the material has decreased with washing and processing. And they never had anything available in my size! Such a downer bc I did love the styles on their site.
Starting solids (this word also irks me lol) was intimidating for me too! I had a lot of anxiety around it so we did a hybrid approach as well. I also followed Solid Starts & that app is SOOOO helpful!!! I feel like the baby food world is almost as divisive and opinionated as the baby sleep world lol so if it's any encouragement, just do what's best for you & Connor & your family, and don't listen to others' unsolicited opinions and/or advice that makes you feel overwhelmed! I know everyone's heart is usually in the right place though
Our daughter is 13 months, she has hit the extremely clingy stage. It's been very hard to get anything done, as she is not walking yet. She doesn't crawl either. Soooo having to carry around a 22lb child is tough all day haha. I'm in the process of teaching her that she is ok if I set her down with some toys for a few minutes so I can do whatever I need to hands free. 😅 Anyone out here in the comment section experiencing a clingy toddler?? Tips for this mama?❤ Michelle - it feels like my toddler was just 5 months old😢time FLIES!!
I've been there!! Get a carrier that you can wear on your back. I'll just throw my kid back there and carry on. They are safe from whatever I'm doing if I'm cooking and it doesn't hurt my back. 10/10 would recommend
Michelle, just want to say I admire your both inner and outer beauty 😍 💖 You look so gorgeous without makeup, I wish I did too. ♥ Also, love your videos always makes my day.
@@michellereedg I’ve heard that from other creators too!!!! That’s why I decided not to try it out… 🙁 You have shown some really cute things from them. But yeah, sounds like they need to work on their quality control 😬
I would highly recommend the book Covenental Baptism by Jason Helopoulos. It's super short and great at explaining infant baptism within the Christian Reformed Presbyterian perspective.🫶🏼
Back to back uploads?! Thank you for all your hard work Michelle 💗✨️
thank you for watching! ❤

oooh what’s pickle?

Good morning Michelle happy Thursday morning and this was amazing video I enjoy your channel because you are amazing Supporter
Coterie wipes are the best! We don’t use the diapers but we still rate the wipes #1

Hi Michelle,
Could you please share where you got your necklace? it’s so beautiful 🤍

Wonderful vlog Michelle! How is your week going?
thank you! it’s been pretty relaxed, looking forward to a fun weekend 🙂

Michelle - it feels like my toddler was just 5 months old😢time FLIES!!
I relate so bad to “solids” and “feeds” LOL. I heard someone say “She fed last…” fed?! 🤢 Both words sound icky to me but it might just be me. 🤣
Oh gosh I forgot to add that it was the Arura frame
Can you please link the Instagram for the farmers market boutique with the red skirt?
I don’t like the word solids either!! I think it’s so strange haha
💜💜💜
It is wild that Nuuly never sponsored you!!!
probably too much free promo on my end 😂 but I’m really sad the quality has gone down so much!
@@michellereedg I’ve heard that from other creators too!!!! That’s why I decided not to try it out… 🙁 You have shown some really cute things from them. But yeah, sounds like they need to work on their quality control 😬
❤
PLEASE BRING BACK THE PODCAST
I just don’t have the time these days! Maybe one day 🥲
The word moist makes me cringe 😂🫣
I would highly recommend the book Covenental Baptism by Jason Helopoulos. It's super short and great at explaining infant baptism within the Christian Reformed Presbyterian perspective.🫶🏼
