I’ve got a grenadier setup for Australia. Been driving it the last 15,000Km and haven’t had any problems. Can’t wait to take it on the canning stock! Give me a shout if you guys wanna go!
I like your take on people's perception of new or less mainstream brands. We purchased a 2025 Rivian R1S max pack in September and have had lots of people ask why would we get it over (X) mainstream vehicle. I think a lot of people just aren't comfortable with something different, regardless of the facts. We have already put 11k miles on our R1S with quite a bit of offroad exploring and with our early pricing it was cheaper than the new 4runner trailhunter!
A Grenadier love-fest that's a little hard to watch. The vehicle they are talking about, a rugged, low cost, utilitarian vehicle is going upscale to compete with the G-wagon according to George Radcliffe himself. It's a great vehicle, but it's not without issues. Watch till the end of the video because it does get better.
I was looking at Grenadier, but felt that a more basic version would suit my needs. Plus I was after a manual version that originally was discussed at the start of the design but never come to be an option, even looked into the cost of converting it to a manual transmission. In the end, I bought myself a brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser 78 Troop Carrier (Troopy) V8 diesel manual instead. Over $40,000 NZD ($22,000 USD) cheaper to buy new then the Grenadier! PS: Agile Offroad have come out with a lighter dampened steering damper which a few people have fitted and have said that the steering has improved drastically both on and off-road.
@ only need a GVM if you carry too much junk! Offer ready from the factory. The key is to carry what’s needed or not what you think you need. Keeping it simple and keeping it light as easier than adding a load of junk . From the factory it comes to 180 L fuel tank capacity, stock front and rear lockers, good suspension travel. Leaf springs in the rear to for best load carrying available. Too many people think they need to modify some of it comes from the factory with years of engineering .
@@overland_adventure_nz The 70 series is a very rough vehicle (am not just talking suspension), let’s just pretend the front - rear axle thing doesn’t exist. The chassis whilst strong , is not as strong as the IG, off road the IG will eat it. On the highway, the IG will eat it, it is smoother and more comfortable.
Thank-you for your explanation on why the steering angle is what it is. I cannot believe how many people are buying this as their first 4WD. Agree, the steering is absolutely awesome off road. In fact I think it is great on-road as well.
The Quartermaster (with after market fuel tank), is setting itself up to be the ultimate tourer, in Australia. The Grenadier, craps over all other wannabes (once you get a long range aux tank).
listening to the gymnastics done to make excuses for grenadier reminds me of Republicans bending over backwards to white wash the absurd actions and statement of Trump. And Matt saying the Land Rover isn't a quality vehicle is total BS. while at the same time making excuses for the shortcomings of the grenadier. ridiculous. Lets see if Matt keeps this Grenadier for 60-70k miles and report back on the times it goes in the shop. Yes, I am a LR Defender owner. I have a 2022 with 68k miles. It has been in the shop one time for a warranty repair. That was a leaking aux radiator. Let's see if the Grenadier is that good. I also have a 2023 with 28k miles and it's never been in the shop for a warranty repair. Let's face it the Grenadier looks cool, why because it looks like an old Defender. That is why people buy them, full stop. And don't tell me about how it's simple and field repairs can be made. BS you cant field repair that bmw engine or ZF tranny. And italian made tractor axels? yeah i am sure Napa will have whatever you need for those while traversing Moab or worse Pan american hwy. The Grenadier is cool, but come on, its not the second coming.
Why would you buy this when you have a Landcruiser option? New cars are often great until warranty expires! This car is also a first world option. In the real world of rugged Africa, Afghanistan Pakistan Middle east this car is shiny scrap
Pasadena sales reps were so basic. Very pushy sales people seemingly trained to simply recite the spec sheet in Google/yt world. Ruined the buying experience for me. Truck felt like a real tank. Vault like. But the steering is bad. The speed limit click is horrible and so is the forced auto stop start. Nonstarter for me. Scott seems so defensive here. What about the thousands of people who already purchased an IG who doesn’t have the alleged new front axle design? lol Ceo making social media rounds sounds so out of touch. Lofty sales goals without addressing some very basic updates people have been clamoring for since inception. Smh
Just got one! Traded in my Bronco Raptor. I'm up for the new adventure!

Please let us know when you do
@expeditionPortal let’s plan for July/August 2025!!
Where are the details for the front driveshaft fix?
You mentioned the family from Project Wild Earth, I think it would be very interesting to have them interview for the podcast 🎉
We plan on it. They are amazing

R1S= My favorite!

How much will you need to get it GVM, and off road ready.

No excuses. We were clear on the limitations and cons
@@ExpeditionPortal lots of excuses veiled as "explanations" . basically excusing using decades old tech on a $80k+ vehicle.
@@Todd-oz1tenow Todd, why do you care so much? You have your Defenders, love them.
Have you tested the Grenadier extensively?
I’d like to do a world tour, do I really need something like this?
