The Crowdak picture style for Canon cameras is based on the Kodak Vision3 filmstock. It's a popular filmstock mainly used for motion picture but can often be found as a 35mm stills film as well.
The sample footage in this video was shot with my Canon SL2 and the Kit lens along with the 50mm f1.8 mkII. Colors are sooc camera unless specified otherwise.
It's quite difficult to replicate every nuance, character and behavior of a filmstock. And to make it into a custom picture style due to the limited control and parameters available for creating picture styles.
That said I hope you'll find much joy in shooting with The Crowdak. Additional tweaks in post will bring you even closer to the real thing.

These are cameras users have reported they’ve installed and used these picture styles on.
If you can’t find your camera on the list but it’s newer than some of the cameras mentioned. Chances are that it will support these custom picture styles. If you try it and it’s successful, please report back to me so I can add that model to the list.

I just purchased Crowdak and installed it without any problems on my Canon EOS Rebel T6. Thank you for your great work. I'm very happy.
Great to hear!
Thank you for reporting the camera model!
I got this and portra and can’t wait to try them. Thanks for sharing them for free. I put little donation on both of them :) have a beer from me my friend.
Awesome! Thank you so much!
Have fun!
I just discovered your Chanel! You are the chilliest and coolest dude i stumbled across on photography RUclips! Thanks for all the Tipps!
Wow! And Welcome aboard!
I really appreciate it
Thanks for the early access! Looks great, can't wait to try it out. 🙂
🎉 you're more than welcome! Hope you enjoy it!
Looks amazing! Cant wait to try it out on my R6 and RP! 😀 Cheers dude! Thank you for your brilliant work 🔥
Thank you Hope you enjoy it!
You are the Santa for picture profiles❤🎉
Haha! Enjoy
This profile totally changed my photos. Thanks for that!
I'm shooting on a Canon M10 with a 7artisans 25mm 1.8
Awesome, so glad you found it!
I think you are the real master of picture style in my opinion.. i tried some other picture style before, but every picture style you created always amaze me.. thanks so much..
Wow, thank you! Appreciate the kind words!
@@ThomasFransson big thanks for replying my comment.. you are the best.. if it possible, i hope someday you would make some little tutorial/tips how to make picture style.. sorry if my english not quite good.. love and big thanks from Indonesia
Using it already. I think it is the best PP from you till now.
Thank you, I appreciate the kind feedback
Man I have been trying my own of the v3 500T but your looks really good I'm going to have to check it out thanks you have been a big motivator for me getting back into photography with my Canon EOS M thanks 🙏🏾 #keepfilming
Hey that's awesome, glad to hear you're getting back into the game!
Thanks, I haven't shoot with it tungsten wb that much yet. So keep me let me know what you think.
I've gotten some of my favorite results using older softer and less contrasty lenses. If helps glue everything together. That and sometimes removing some sharpness in post.
Thank you so much!! Your tips really makes the whole experience upgrade. I was thinking about buying another camera just because I love film simulation. Now you just save the money for me✨ The filter looks amazing!! can't wait to try😍
I'm using R8. It works!
Thank you, I hope they live up to your expectations.
Thanks for confirming the R8
Really want to express my appreciation to you! I tried those filters, and the outcomes are sooooo good✨ You’re a genius!! thank you!
Thank you, it's great to hear that they lived up to your expectations.
I stumbled upon your channel looking up if it's possible to add film simulations to Canon (since Fujis are so damn expensive), and you did it! Thank you so much for providing the presets, I love it on my R!
Thank you!
Happy to hear that you like them.
This is so great. Thanks for early access. I'm at the beach In North Carolina. Hope to shoot some footage if the rain stops.
You're most welcome!
Let me know what you think of this new one
Must be nice if I added some halations in post. Can't thank you enough for all this treasury, mate.
Definitely, add in post, or with a lens filter or vintage lens. That would definitely make it even more filmic
Thanks 🙏🏻 for sharing this picture style, looks really Nice - looking forward to try this 📷☺️
Hope you enjoy it!
I really love this picture style. Could you please advise us on the best setting for exposing the video footage? Should we keep the white balance set to daylight even for a bright sunny day? Once again, thank you for this wonderful picture profile
Thank you, I'm glad to hear that you like it.
Sure thing - I normally keep it in daylight all the time just like if it would have been actual daylight balanced film.
But yes, sometimes you end up in situations where it might nog look that good and in those cases I try to find something that works in camera or I'll get as close as possible in camera and correct the rest in post. But then again, if you prefer another whitebalance than daylight - go for it!
Thanks you very much, you have a new subscriber from Mexico !! Thanks !! 🇲🇽
Love Mexico!
Thanks for the sub!
Hi Thomas, I bought your new Picture Style instantly. I really like it 👌
Awesome, thank you!
So glad you liked it
Filmic base, eurotrip and this is my new go-to
Love it!
Glad to hear you're digging the colors.
Thanks man!
Thank you!! I downloaded but not sure if i'll use it soon. Maybe someday ^^ . Thanks for doing this!
Hey, my pleasure! Enjoy them when you have the time.
I love this profile. Thanks for all.
Thank you too!
< Canon... am I in focus at all? > - this should go an a T-shirt :D
🤣
Fantastic. Thank you for this. I am looking forward to trying it out. For the sake of updating your list of cameras, I am using it on the Canon 1DX Mk 2.
My pleasure, I hope you'll enjoy the experience. And thank you for the confirmation on the 1DX mkII!!!
Thanks for creating this Thomas, I just downloaded and installed onto my Canon M6II. Excited to go out and give it a try myself!
Awesome!
Thanks for including what camera.
Have fun!
Did you give it a try? How did it go?
@@lelong822 easy to install on the m6ii and it looked great! definitely interesting to see the look be more subtle or dramatic in different lighting scenarios!
thank you very much
You are welcome
Just tried out both Crowdak and Pro Neigh Hi styles on G1X Mark III. They work great :)
Very nice!
Thanks for confirming this camera model, I'll add it to the list
Hi! there seems to be a problem extracting the file huhu. it says file incomplete. I'm using Macbook pro. asking for help. thank you so much
I know that unarchiver will work on mac as I asked a friend who's on mac to verify this. So hopefully that will get it sorted. If not I would Google on the file ending (can't remember if Crowdak is .rar or .zip) and "mac" and there should be plenty of options regarding soft. That and perhaps download the file again
Awesome job man! Thanks for share this masterpeace!
My pleasure!
I wish you made something based on Kodak Gold 200, that would look amazing!
That's a nice one! There's some new ones coming soon.
@@ThomasFransson Can't wait!
Thanks a lot for all these incredible profiles. Big fan of filmicbase . Will check this new profile too. Too bad canon have slots for only 3 profiles. Do check if u can replicate the same for Lightroom also. I remember day when I was taking pics and was blown away by the beautiful colors but later got disappointed when returned to home as I was shooting them in raw.
Thank you for connecting. It makes me happy to hear that you enjoy the colors.
Haha, yes those 3 slots are not enough ;)
There might be a work around in the meantime while I work on those LR profiles. Will seen if I can test it out and make a video about it soon.
love your picture profiles man thanks
Thank you so much!
Glad you like them!
I really love this video!
@ThomasFransson Thanks for this nice profils. Did you use the lightning optimizer feature on this profile (and the others) while creating them?
You're most welcome.
No, that's not an available feature for pf3 files. You can add it in post though.
@@ThomasFransson did you do that? With my own other presets I leave it in off position.
No extra settings applied
Awesome work again brother i appreciate it I love Kodak colours these days..keep up the good work and sorry bout the cancel photowalk
Much appreciated
Hope you'll enjoy the colors!
Oooya...thanks a lot,will definitely try it.
Enjoy
This is just amazing!
Enjoy
Always amazing, sir.
Thanks brother
@@ThomasFransson Hope you stay with the Canon community, sir.
I will. More picture styles in the pipeline.
what a great video, by the way can you try to make a pf2 version of your picture style and install it on some older canon dslr series like 60D? some people just want to try your good picture profile on their old camera, thanks in advance 😄
I've been meaning to do a set of pf2 profiles, but I've been putting it off. I wanted to clean the sensor on that old Canon of mine. But I never get to it 😅🤣
Maybe a few dust specs isn't the whole world. Thank you I'll put the battery in the charger tonight.
@@ThomasFransson thank you, can i know about what type is your old canon camera?
I am still rocking the EOS M2 so can't wait to give this a try for video (Edit: It works so add the M2 to the list).
Have fun!
@@ThomasFransson Thanks!
Thank you and thanks for the M2 update
May I ask what different Crowdak with your Cali Cowboy SOCC. Thanks
Good question, I'd say California Cowboy would be my go to for scenes with a lot of greenery and times where I'd want a bit more punch. While the crowdak is milder and a tad more neutral in comparison.
Your picture profiles are amazing, thanks! Do you know where I can find the list with 158 other picture profiles online you recommended? I can’t seem to find it anywhere :)
Thank you. Yes, not sure what happened to that collection. Maybe it was taken down by the owner. I believe I even saw some of my profiles in there, so maybe it was a copyright issue if some other copyright owner reacted.
Thank you! Good job again!
Thank you too! Hope you'll enjoy it
Looks amazing…I’ve just bought a 5D mk ii and would love to try it….but your page says the following "The format is .pf3 which is supported by newer models (aprox 2015 and newer)”…does this mean I might experience problems installing it on th 5D mk ii becasue that camera was released way before 2015?
Yep, but I've gotten confirmations on that model from a couple of sources so it might work. Canon was the ones who said "around 2015" when I asked them where the cutoff was ;)
@@ThomasFransson Thanks Thomas, I’ll give it a try and so hope it works…its looks amazing and I don’t know how you made it look so good! :)
I'm just lucky with the light at times ;)
Got across your site from the Canon G7 group. Fantastic photos. I really like the colors.
How do i load and use this Crowdak for my g7 mark 2?
Awesome, thank you for stopping by.
For the G7 I believe there's a software called picture style registration tool.
I made a video about G7 asking users to share their process in the comments on that video.
Thanks so much how do you apply it?
Here my installation tutorial

Hi, amazing picture styles. Does it work on the canon 650d? I will travel to north of Italy for a road trip (Venice, Verona, Milano etc.) Which picture style would suit these scenarios and landscapes? Which picture styles of your would you recommend? thanks a lot
There's a list of verified camera models in the description.
Sounds like a nice trip. Crowdak is pretty allround. You could also check out the ones in the California Cowboy pack for landscapes and that sort of stuff.
Do these film simulations work for G5X mark ii as well? I guess if they work for G7X they should for G5X right?
Newer camera. Seems reasonable that they would. Haven't heard any reports from any g5x shooters, so please let me know how it how it works
Very nice job!
Thanks brother
The gumroad crowdak download doesn't seem to be working at the moment?..
Must have been a temporary glitch then.
Just checked and it worked now.
*please reply* will it work for canon 70d?it doesnt have fineness, threshold and strength parameters for sharpness:(
I've not tested or gotten any confirmation from 70D users as of yet.
50D users have confirmed picture styles working thou. There's a list of verified camera models in the description of every video related to picture styles. Those models have been reported by users as working/compatible models.
As for settings goes, make sure you're in full manual mode as auto modes seem to disable customization of settings on several Canon camera models.
@@ThomasFransson thanks for the response!ps you’re a cool guy replying to almost every query i see😅you’re trying your best man you’re gonna go big one day keep at it!i subbed and liked:D
Thanks you, I appreciate it. I do my best to help out. Have a great weekend!
Hi there! I love your presets, these film-like filters. But it seems like it does not work for my Canon 600D as I don't see any difference in my photos.
I shoot in JPG, not RAW, and I followed your instructions on how to install custom picture styles.
Yet it does not make any difference at all. Do you know why this is the case?
Maybe you're using some auto mode, that seems to override any custom picture styles.
Would you make an ektar 100 style?
Maybe, I haven't shot a lot with Ektar so it'll probably be a while.
Would love to load this on my Canon, but the PF3 file is unusual. Can not find anything so far for Mac to open it. The Unarchiver tool you mentioned for Mac will not recognise it
That's weird, not sure what could be the issue. I just released this tutorial where it's un-rared on mac.
ruclips.net/video/D3BdqWdnFaw/видео.html
I believe gumroad adds a second layer of compression (also rar) )at times so sometimes it's a rar compressed rar file containing the files.
@@ThomasFransson So sorry mate, I'm just an idiot lol. Thought I had to extract it, then realised to just load it into the EOS utility. Took a couple sample shots and loving it.
Have been using your filmic base for a while. Love that picture profile. Eager to try this one out.
Thank you, I'm happy to hear that. Hope you enjoy it!
Will this be good to use for like inside bars? specifically for karaoke with some decent light but still dark with flashing color overhead lights
Sure, it will obviously come down to lighting and all that. And what look you are going for. The Crowdak isn't super crunchy
BEST thanks
Most welcome
Это очень круто! Спасибо большое! 🤩
Thanks Enjoy!
I absolutely love these picture styles you create! Is it okay that I shoot some photos or footages with it and mention/credit you? Thanks!
Please do! I love seeing what other creatives are doing with these.
There's also a mail filmiccanon@gmail.com where I encourage people to send in their work done with these. When There's enough material I'll make a video featuring the shots
@@ThomasFransson Thx! Will do!
I been trying to install the filmic picture style but when I’m selecting the folder through the canon facility it says that the folder is empty. Help please
It needs to be extracted properly with either winrar (pc) or unarchiver for mac
If not, you will only see a .zip or .rar file instead of a. Pf3 file in the directory where you downloaded the file.
I would like to ask why I couldn't unzip the file successfully ????
Did you use winrar (pc) or unarchiver (mac)?
There's a tutorial video "How to install film simulations on Canon" on my channel with download links
Hello! Do you know if there is Fujifilm Classic Chrome simulation profile available anywhere? That would be nice to get.
Havent see any CC sim out there yet.
Nice! What WB must be used?
Everything in this video was shot at canons default daylight wb. But you can play around with any wb you like.
I'm using canon 6D, as far I know the 6D use a pf2 file for picture style. can I use a pf3 file in my 6D?
Sadly it's not compatible, and there's no way (as of yet) to convert pf3 to pf2.
Hi! This picture style was beautiful, but i want to ask its can be install on canon 60D?
Thank you, I'm actually not sure I haven't seen any reports on 60D in terms of working or not.
If you do give it a try, let me know if it works so I can add it to the list of tested cameras.
did it work?ive got a 70d
I see that G7X MkII is on the list but EOS Utility does not recognize camera...Anyone got a solution for this? (Naturally I would think it is not possible since it is not a EOS camera)
There is some sort of workaround if this happens. Unfortunately I can't remember the exact procedure. I hope a G7X mkii user will chime in here.
you can donwload the Canon Picture Style File - i only found this to download from Canon Hongkong website
I need , Thanks 🙏🏻
You're welcome 😊
Dear Thomas, I have a question: how could I overcome the fact that sometimes the black color gets too strong, when I use crowdak? What I mean is gets too intensive compared to other colours, maybe its also because of the nd filter... Btw, I make many or most of my videos with your picture styles, if you want, I gladly send some pictures I took with them.
That's a great question, I normally shoot everything on iso 400 with a vnd (1-8 stops) and that usually works great for me. You can go into the settings for the picture style (on your camera)and lower the contrast one or two steps and see if that does it.
Cool, I'll head over to your channel and check them out
@@ThomasFransson Thank you for the answer!
Hi! Cool picturestyle! I'd like to know if there is a way to use the style as a raw-preset and how to get this done. I usually shoot raw. last time I shot jpg was 2011 due to its limitations in terms of editing. So here's my question : how did you edit this style and how could I recreate this 'like seen' in Lightroom? Thank you for your styles anyway, 😊
Sadly there's no LR versions of these profiles. The main idea was to make something that would look "edited" sooc and be treated more like shooting film. What you get is what you get ;)
But I totally get RAW shooters, I shoot a lot of RAW too. When it comes to replicating it's a lot of curves and HSL adjustments. Reference images and tons of testing to make it behave for shooting in different conditions and preserve things like skin tones.
But great to hear that there's an interest for LR presets.
@@ThomasFransson of course it's a good idea to make it cool looking ooc, I appreciate this, and I think it's a lot work to get this done properly, but there is definitely an interest for lr presets/profiles (I think it's not only me who is interested in this :))
I would really like to edit raw/dng in this look.
Thanks for your answer and your great work.
Hey bro. How can i edit my pictures profile like yours? I can't download your links cause i don't have a laptop. So maybe there's other way to get this look on my m50.
Hey!
Sadly, you can't make these types of edits to the picture styles in camera. Hope you'll find a way.
Hi sir Thomas, I’m from Philippines can I still buy and download this?
Hi!
Yes there shouldn't be any problems as far as I know
Will these film emulations work on a 5d mk 2?
Yes, I've gotten verifications from mkII users on this. The 5d mkII should be on the list in the description of this video.
Are you shooting j or straight raw with this?
These only works for jpg and video. There are a workaround for raw files apparently using Canons raw processing software.
How do I get this?
Link in description ;)
This is probably a little late, but do u have the recipe for those who can’t seem to have their eos utility detect their camera😂
I would try a different cable, make sure camera is in stills mode and try a different version of eos utility.
Sadly it's not possible to make these changes in camera like you can on Fujifilm cameras.
@@ThomasFranssonthanks!! I finally got it to work. What white balance setting would you recommend works best with this picture style?
For some reason it doesn't want to work. I have an r50
The R50 have been confirmed by several users so there's still hope. If you’re using some sort of auto mode on your camera, this usually hinders the use of custom picture styles.
Also make sure to use a data cable and not a charging cable to transfer the files.
On my channel there's a step by step video - How to load film simulations on your Canon camera" I hope this will help.
It does work on R50. I have it on mine.
hey, what is the closest picture profile of yours that is the closest to fuji's reggie's portra recipe?
Oh that's a good question, I haven’t used that one so I can say for sure. But I do have a Portra profile available. Maybe that'll get you down the right path
@@ThomasFransson thank you so much, i decided to download your crowdak film on windows computer, i set up the eos utility app but no matter what i did, i disabled wifi but it doesnt see the camera. what can i do?
A couple of things, sometimes you need to try a few downloads of the eos utility, making sure it's specifically supports your camera model. I think I downloaded the one I'm using from Canon Asia even though I'm based in Europe...
It could also be the cable, could be a bad cable, a cable with only charging leads a no data leads... could also be a g series camera that utilizes the Picture Styles Registration tool from Canon instead of eos utility. And make sure your camera is in photo mode. There might be a few more tips in my tutorial video
@@ThomasFransson thank you do much!!
Hope you'll get it sorted
Is this free?
Yes it is
can i installed it on my 5D mark 3?
I believe so.
well, sold my mark 3 and bought m50 for faster AF and for the light body. @@ThomasFransson
im sad i cant use this on on eos m2
Oh man, that's a bummer
@@ThomasFransson yeah found out since the EOS M2 doesn’t use the extra sharpening settings it won’t let me use the crowdak picture profile.
I can copy some of your basic settings but that’s about it.
Oh, do you mean the fine detail profile?
I know that profile caused some issues and I've released alternative versions not based on that base profile, but from memory that was only a problem with the California Cowboy pack
Köpte direkt!
❤ Tusen tack
I’d like to pay u for this profile… but I live in Russia and we can’t pay for anything from Europe and US cuz they blocked our visa and MC cards for international usage. So I can just say thank you for doing grate job. I wish remember to get back and donate something to u when these political games ends
Enjoy, hope you like it.
