    Hi what mic would you recommend for a cooking ASMR over the fire in nature channel? I would not mind picking up some of the ambient noise noise nature when cooking also. The fire will be how to mic won't always be able to be very close to the action. Would a MKE600 or MKE440 work well?

    • @thomasfransson
      @thomasfransson День назад

      The mke440 would be an interesting choice as it's a stereo microphone. If you’re not using a camera (or recorder) with XLR inputs the mke400 could also be a great option as it would provide a stronger signal compared to the mke600 if you run it on battery power. A mono microphone like the 400 will give you a more directional (and centered) sound being only one channel of audio. The 440 would provide more width and maybe more ambience. But you'd also get slight separation and directional awareness. I'm not an expert on asmr so I'm not sure which one of these characteristics that would be most favorable for asmr though. But I hope this information will help you make a more informed decision.

    I need to find a monitor that has full touch screen capabilities of the Sony cameras menu. The DC 550 pro is not a touchscreen monitor as I cannot access anything on the camera side. I can’t access my menu. I can’t use the touchscreen to control focus or access the cameras menu. I would have never bought this monitor if I knew this! Any recommendations for a true touchscreen monitor with full access to Sony camera? Essentially I want a exact copy of my camera monitor and function just larger it does not have the budget option. Price is irrelevant.

    • @thomasfransson
      @thomasfransson 3 дня назад

      Exactly, 99.7% of the external monitors on the market doesn't offer camera control, it's actually a very recent feature available to cameras other than RED for example. The most common one that works with Sony is the Portkeyes LH5P II and a handful or others Like the new Atomos Shinobi II Which I'm hoping to review soon as I've used it for little over a month now. But actually haven't tested the camera control feature yet. But those two and if you google monitor with camera control for Sony might give you more options. Some monitors will have camera control but perhaps only for RED, ARRI or other brands so thats what you will need to do If you want something with camera control.

      From what I've heard the Sony Creator App might be another option to look into. It's supposed to let you use your smartphone as an external monitor and from my understanding will support touch focus. You should be able to find it on google play and app store (it's free and made by Sony)

      Have you tested the AF? Also make sure the mc-11 firmware is up to date. The only thing I can think of outside of this if you've confirmed that the auto focus doesn't actually work is if you've updated your camera firmware to the new one that Sony pulled since it caused a lot of issues and some adapters and third party lenses stopped working.

  • @JikoMuskato
    @JikoMuskato 4 дня назад

    I'm really sad Canon doesn't allow third-party full-frame AF lenses on their mirrorless models unless you adapt them from EF, for which many new lenses aren't built anymore and using pancakes with an adapter would completely eliminate the benefit of pancake lenses. :( Nice lens though!

      If you have other options you find as nimble or if you can't see yourself using it personally - Sure. But I think of everyone buying a new camera or getting into video to extend battery life with a power bank they probably already own. And I could see this as a great backup to have in your bag if your NPF, V-Mount or regular batteries are getting low. Slap it on with your own power bank or borrow one on set. Personally I also like the sheer size of it along with a smaller power bank for those times when you really want to slim down your camera to as little as possible. They seem to be pretty active on their facebook page. And there might be a user group on FB too. Sorry, but I can't offer any advice since I'm not running that same firmware.

The newer iterations of the device actually can't run the firmware shown in your video, but I was given advice about how access false colour (it is hidden by default now) and full screen - although full screen is minus display info as you have here - and that's probably a Sony thing. • @thomasfransson
      @thomasfransson 10 дней назад

      Yeah pretty much, that's why they're made out of metal to help with heat dissipation. It's basically a big heat sink. There's lots of information about this on google if you want to learn more about how CFExpress cards work and that sort of stuff. It's also why some newer cameras don't always have CFExpress card slots - to prevent them from internal heat issues.

    • @gianlucagianferrari
      @gianlucagianferrari 10 дней назад

      @@thomasfransson thanks. I did hours and hours of research on Google to try to understand if the strong heat was normal or not. I didn't find much. The most interesting thing are some articles on PetaPixel where they warn about CFs that are NOT VPG certified. There is also a list of brands that have the certification and Pergear is not there, this made me very suspicious... I will do other tests with a friend's Lexar

    • @thomasfransson
      @thomasfransson 9 дней назад

      Really? I just googled "CFExpress Type A gets hot" and got about 307 000 results, most of them explaining the works of these cards and confirming the fact that they do get hot. Even when Idle or just sitting in a card reader. Even my Sony gets hot. There's a a bunch of these new cards coming out on the market and just like one could expect not all, especially manufacturers of more budget friendly options might go through all the licensing and certification, this would not mean it's a bad card. Just that they made a card and didn't care about the proper certification. Just like with third party batteries that will work just fine even if they won't have the same certification and your camera might say that It can not guarantee the functionality of a battery as it's not an OEM... the camera isn't able to verify that it's not OEM and therefore... And if you are a big content creator and you have a choice to recommend products that won't have any issues (most likely) or recommend a card, battery, lens, accessory that may work perfectly on 97% of all cameras. But you don't want the risk of getting complaints from those 3% Well then you stick with the safe bets... It's just like in camera groups where there's people that's afraid of even using third party lenses and make it very clear as often as they could how superior OEM is and how they'd never buy third party options. Sorry about the rant. All I can say is that I've used this card for 90% of everything I've shot on my Sony since I got in in early 2024 and not run into any issues or have seen anyone reporting any issues on any Sony group or RUclips. I was worried when I got it as it got hot - did some quick reserach and discovered that these cards do get hot and I didn't think more of it.

    Well, here is a much smarter decision… Dump Premier pro and start using da Vinci resolve which is much much much much better than premiere. In every possible way. I just don’t understand why anybody would keep paying for Premier pro when da Vinci resolve is so much better. And then you don’t need Dehancer because the tools in resolve can do 99% of everything you need.

    • @thomasfransson
      @thomasfransson 14 дней назад

      I can't answer on everyone's behalf but I've owned DRS for a couple of years and I open it every once in a while. But I'm still nowhere near as efficient in Resolve as I am in Premiere and despite all these years, I haven't had the time to put in the time and effort it would take to become as efficient in Resolve or at least get to a point where I'm able to make a decision on which NLE that fits me and my workflow the best. The coloring in DRS is great and the only reason why I've kept it installed. Although I've only graded a few test clips and based on my current knowledge of Resolve obviously took me way longer than it would have done in Premiere and as the results weren't better (again because I don't feel at home in Resolve) I can't defend myself going over to Resolve. And I can only assume this is the reason why alot of people stick with Premiere, they either don't have the time to migrate or maybe they're happy with their current workflow and don't see a reason to switch. On another note, there's a lot of Davinci Resolve users using Dehancer.

      Both work fine as can be seen in the gimbal test at 10:22 so unless it's specifically for gimbal use I would look at what lens ticks the most boxes apart from that. But you could also revisit "The Picking" at 14:03 to hear my thoughts on what lens works best for what situation.

    For the FX30 I’d go with the Sony 18-105 f/4 OSS. Internal zoom on a gimbal is awesome. IBIS works well if the camera is stationary but any movement causes IBIS to overcompensate and then become un-smooth.

    • @thomasfransson
      @thomasfransson 16 дней назад

      Ah see, yeah that's the one annoying thing with Sony cameras. I rarely have the info display turned on. But if I do, I normally just pinch zoom past the "junk" to fill the screen ;) And pinch zoom out or just swipe up or down to glance setting and info. The frame guide options available is 80, 85, 90, 93 and 96% so no free form for that tiny little image patch.

    • @thomasfransson

      I've only shot with a 45mm 1.5X But given the fact that a 1.5X anamorphic lenses will have a field of view similar to a 23mm lens (if you’re shooting on a full frame camera) and that smallrig claims this matte box to clear up to 15mm wide angle lenses without any vignetting. We should be able to assume that 35mm would work without any vignetting.

So far I recorded continuously 1:42 minutes and the warm signal icon was activated but it wasn´t in red... soooo I am sure I would have got another 15 minutes at least... I will do a new test and I will use a V-Mount Battery 99Watts for the camera and I will make sure I have enough power juice to complete the test. So far I love this cooling system and I am glad I got it. Here is the short ruclips.net/user/shortsbDtzPPsLHew

      I never hide this one. I've done a few tests at home but nothing was a stand out solution. You could tape it to the inside of a button down shirt collar, glasses, brim of a cap that sort of stuff... Anyplace you can place it where it won't be moving around and nothing will rub up against it.
