I am a hobbyist photographer. I have a full-time job to support my day-to-day needs, but I made a promise to myself, that once I earn money using my camera, I will share some of it with Thomas Fransson. You are a saviour for all of us Canon users. Thank you so much Thomas! I love seeing brands sponsoring your videos. Sorry for my bad English, I am not a native English speaker 😍
Community please, support my man, so he can be motivated to continue his work, his work is a hidden gem, and community prioritized, and for that, I am really appreciated!
Thank you for your continued free film sims. I played around with the Retro Krum a bit. The sky came out very purple. Not sure if that’s what’s intended.
Sorry, I should add some context. I live in the Arizona desert, in the US, and I was experimenting during a very bright, sunny day. There were zero clouds in the sky.
Thank you for the feedback Robert. A purple push into the blues was one of the color shifts I was aiming for as it can be a common imperfection in expired film. But I have had a few shots where the sky was completely purple. (Sadly the weather here haven't been similar to yours lately 🤣) Did you also shoot raw or can you reproduce the behavior and send me a raw file or two? Preferably one with predominantly sky and one with some sky and landscape for exposure reference?
I love this! I'm in Sicily for a few weeks. I've been using Urban Filmic on my M50 with a TTArtisan 35mm F0.95 but I'm probably going to switch over to Retro Krum now!
I am constantly inspired when I watch your videos on RUclips. The quality of your work is extraordinary. On my 6D Mark II, I can only install 3 image styles. Is it possible to install more using an alternative method (external software)? On the newer cameras, is it possible to install more natively? Thanks again, Thomas!
Thank you, it makes me happy to hear. Now to the bad news, unfortunately there's only room for theee profiles. I've heard rumors that some of their cameras like the DX series might have 5. But I'm not sure if that's true. So I'm afraid you'll have to do like I do, have that usb cable hanging from your computer at all times. Or get a cheap 2nd camera ;)
Could you make a video about how to shoot vintage lenses on Canon DSLRs? I'm relatively new to photography and mostly used mirrorless. When i have used DSLR always has been with AF lenses. With vintage manual lenses i don't know how the camera behaves, if you focus with live view or other method, how the metering behaves (if there is indicator for over / under exposed), if the flash can be used with manual lenses on camera, etc
I made this video which touches more on the adapting end of vintage lenses and dslrs. Apart from focusing manually and not getting any lens data for your exif. There's not a whole that's different. Between dslrs and mirrorless cameras, it's easier to adapt lenses to mirrorless. Because of the shorter flange distance on mirrorless cameras. This leaves room for an adapter. And there's no mirror flying around ;) ruclips.net/video/kjjkzWfCvK0/видео.htmlsi=wduoFFwUmn6rU-zk
Your retro krum just reminds me of color plus...still waiting for your picture style that supports older dslr....hehehe you have good one, I really enjoyed these pictures style videos.
Thank you. It's tricky since very few changes can be made and I don't have any camera that only supports pf2 files. But rest assured, I've not given up on it ;)
I hear you. B&W can be a fun but way of changing things up now and then. But it's a different way of shooting for sure. Hope you'll get some interesting shots with Retro Krum
Thank you, I hope you'll enjoy it. I haven't posted any video like that. It's quite a tedious process to make film simulations that works well. But the software is quite straightforward and doesn't require much in terms of explanation. It's the problem solving and tinkering that is difficult if you try to go beyond what it's created to do. And that's very different for every profile.
Amazing work Thomas I appreciate will be waiting to put this on my m50...I love bw as it reminds me of trix and tmax...krum looks awesome will be trying these I can't wait 😅... blessings
Right on! I was trying to get some of that density while still keeping the image together ;) Let me know what you think once you’ve shot some. Retro Krum can be fiesty, but rewarding 😅
I wish, I played around with some profiles inspired by astroid city which isn't exactly the same but has a similar vibe. Unfortunately I had a hard time taking suitable sample images here in Sweden to finalize it. But it’s still on my hard drive. So I might resume it
Hey there Mr. Fransson. Do you use the same white balance with your film simulations? If yes, do you mind giving your white balance setting. It would help me a lot, Thank you! 💛
99% of the time I use standard daylight preset as most film is daylight balanced. I believe I've covered this in a few of my videos and the fact that the colors on these sims aren't always as yellow tinted as stock Canon. This and the fact that I often use an nd filter which varies in strenght and model/make.
Hi Thomas, is it possible to help create Canon 5d mark ii picture style for Canon R series ? I really love the colour of 5d mark ii and its impossible to get straight out of camera. Hope to hear from you sir :)
Hey, man, I'm in a bit of pickle here, thought you may be able to help, so here's the asking: I use the Linux operating system, so there is no way to use any Canon software. I'd like to use the styles in this videos, and I know I can change the user defined profiles in the camera settings, but I would need your help to set that. Could you provide the recipe here for me and others in the same situation?

You’re the saviour for all Canon users looking for sims in the world of fujis and nikons.
Haha, thanks glad to be able to share these with all the nice Canon shooters out there!

Im not going to lie, the last film simulation was the best one yet. I love the clean and crispy look. Thank you
Wow, thank you!
I really love your work. It's always super high quality. My favourite is the crowdak

Definitely one of my favorites too.
I hope you continue to make these because I love trying these styles out!

@@thomasfransson Sure, I can send you something in a few hours (probably overnight your time). Where should I send them?
Never mind, found your email. Will send shortly…

Oh wow, that sounds amazing! I'm not jealous at all. Let me know how those shots turns out, it's an interesting Sim for sure
Just tested it on my EOS M100 works perfectly and looks really nice, dark tones punchy indeed but still nice contrast overall. ❤Thank you! 🙏🙏🙏
Great to hear! Thanks for the update, much appreciated
Great Work! I will try it soon! And thanks for picking out my photo as a flimiccanon example 😉
You take some tasty photos my friend!
Extremely excited to try this out!
Let me know how they drive!

Not much of a B&W shooter but retro krum seems interesting. Thanks for these. Love your work.

The RETRO KRUM is so awesome, can't wait to use it. I found your videos few weeks ago, but is there video how to DIY one?
Thank you, I hope you'll enjoy it.

only can say How AWESOME are you Thomas,,Thanks and big Huge🤗
Hola Thomas, excelente contenido, se puede aplicar en las cámara R50 Canon?
Hi, yes it should work on the R50. Just follow the steps in the video on the endscreen.

are you able to replicate the classic cuban negative simulation from fuji?

We will have to figure out a way to make that happen for sure!
Hi Thomas, is it possible to help create Canon 5d mark ii picture style for Canon R series ? I really love the colour of 5d mark ii and its impossible to get straight out of camera. Hope to hear from you sir :)
Maybe, sadly I don't have access to a mkII
maybe we think on an illford Film?
I've definitely shot a lot of that ;)

Sadly I don't think there's a way around eos utility.
Anyone else unable to download these? I'm getting a greyed-out "Processing" message when I hit the GET button 🤷♂
Just tried without any issue. Maybe try a different
