Take a look at the story of the Emperor killing a dragon in the medieval era and putting it in Mars. Its almost as if the Emperor wanted the mechanicus to come into existence in the future.
There's a lot of engineers, workers, even soldiers in my country will pray to the machines they are working with, hoping they will work without any problem. So I think I can say Adeptus mechanicus already exists in modern world.
Tbf about the AI: it’s highly unlikely that AI can actually become sentient on its own. It would have to have been made deliberately sentient, like the Necrons. Therefore, it’s not hypocrisy. Also, a single shard of the Void dragon, if it’s like most C‘tan shards, it probably wouldn’t be able to destroy Terra. Mankind’s most powerful weapons are here and C‘tan shards were defeated before.
Oh really?! That's super interesting. We had thought the time of strife was all because robots and AI had gained sentience on their own. Is that not the case? Brady and I also have NO idea what a C'tan shard is, so we're looking forward to learning more about those! Thank you for your comment :)
@@GMineo Well, the lore is a bit vague since no one but the Emperor and UR-025 (an actual still living MoI) knows shit about the Golden Age/Age of Strife. They likely already had sentience and just decided to turn. C‘tan Shards are pretty self explanatory, none of the C‘tan are actually whole anymore. The Necrons realized they couldn’t kill them begause they were absolutely immortal, so they beat them up so hard that they had to split their bodies to stay stable. The Necrons then enslaved those shards.
@@GMineo humanity gave the machines sentience and tasked them with stopping chaos; it just so happens to be that the only logical way to stop chaos is to exterminate humanity, and as for why the machines were not programmed to protect human life and were given self preservation is because: A) Chaos worshippers and psychers are human so if you can't kill human life you can't fight chaos. B) In order for the machines to be effective in combat situations against demons who can possesse the machine or what's left of it after beating it in a fight it was important to have them be able to have a sense of preservation to not have your own war engines turned against you by demons.
My favorite thing about Mecanicus lore (and favorite faction in 40k) are the Xenarites. A group of heretek who believe that the void dragon is the Omnisiah
you missed out a little bit of the void dragon lore, the whole reason its even on mars is because the emperor defeated it but couldnt kill it with what he had available so he buried it on mars, the void dragon itself is asleep but its mind is active and is absorbing the prayers of the mechanicus and is acting as the machine god so in a way the mechanicus is worshping the C'tan lmao
One of the Space Median legions, the 1st Legionnlater known as the Dark Angels where secretly equipped by the Emperor to handle any mass revolt by the Mwchanicus.

Beyond this, an interesting thing to look up is the idea of... *The Atomic Priesthood* This isn't a 40k thing. It's an idea from the real world. See, nuclear waste will be dangerous for a long time. So long that human languages could change so much that modern language is incomprehensible to them. So, there have been groups working on how to keep it so that people still know that these waste dumps are dangerous, even if civilisation still collapses. The Atomic Priesthood is one such idea: creating an artificial religion passing down knowledge over generations to maintain the knowledge as dogma. Knowing that someone actually thought this might work makes understanding the Mechanicus easier: they originate as people who learnt to maintain vital technology as dogma and ritual because keeping that knowledge intact was more important than _how_ they kept that knowledge.

its was meant to be reference to George and the Dragon the emperor being George which is think is cool
I would replace everything, make me a necron
Or something like 2B 😆
@@Lady_Maltheal that would also be okay

From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me...
Praise the Omnissiah for this video. Nice to see you guys learn about these guys.

I prefer being dust, trapped into power armor than being a machine
But this may just be me
