Metal is slowly becoming mainstream not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing
Not really. But thankfully, there is always going to be smaller bands that don't give a sh!t about mainstream lol
Good thing.
Punk and hardcore and all it’s core and punk genres should be underground and remain. Should never be mainstream at all.
Extreme metal genres should be mainstream and just……metal the genre itself should be. Because, it’s all about instrumentation. Slot of pop heads don’t listen to pop because of its lyrics. They know the lyrics are stupid as shit. They just listen to their pop and their other music because of the instrumentuon and composition atmosphere structure etc etc etc. Punk and hardcore and its genres are just chaotic noisy fuck you anti-mainstream and very underground. It’s the music that should BE underground and never should be mainstream
@@ZXSPEXbut it may become just as bad as pop or lose what makes metal great too.
@@ZXSPEX dude. That's why I said MAY happen. Like it's possible. I'm sure it's already happening. Where the music isn't about what makes metal, metal. For example just more mundane types of sound. Not as heavy just to be for people that don't like heavier sounds. But that's why I said what I said when it's all about money, things loser character, musicians become puppets and they don't have love for what they have to create. Soulless music isn't Metal.
@@Dieafreakhardcore punk and metallic hardcore is more mainstream, safe space, & commercialized now than in the 80s, 90s. Turnstile on fucking Taco Bell advertisement and even played at Coachella (Knocked Loose also played there too). No way this will happen with punk rock in the 70s or hardcore punk in the 80s or metallic hardcore in the 90s.
Everyone pretends to listen to "heavy" music.
It's awesome that heavy music is getting better, but sucks because selfishly, there's less tickets available.
truuuueee, also with bands getting bigger, tickets get more expensive, that sucks too
No man, y’all should be happy for yawls bands and to be honest if you get your money up, don’t be broke and you won’t have that. Issue , also go support your local music scene. Don’t just support the big band start going to local shows that are 10 $20 and finding new bands. I’m telling y’all you’ll have just as much fun getting in with your local community and your local bands.
@@anthonycook5238 only local bands by me are shitty grind core
@@anthonycook5238 yall yall yall
@@anthonycook5238”yawls bands”? We aren’t in the band. It’s not my job to support them like I’m their dad. I’m not paying more than $50 to mosh for an hour. And “get your money up” is just ridiculous. Even if I was a millionaire I wouldn’t pay some of these insane ticket prices.
If I bought stock in deathcore when it came out I’d be a kardashian by now
Been listening to heavy metal 🤘🏾 since the mid 2000s.
Me too
1986 for me.
When I grow up I want to be you.
I honestly think the real reason women are starting to come around to these type of shows is there's more bands with girls in them there's all sorts of extreme metal musicians that happened to be women
Absolutely
Had a chick dig my Deicide shirt and told me she exclusively only listens to all female punk bands but that she is now branching out to heavier stuff.
I think it’s because women realize a certain type of guy listens to Drake, and a certain type of guy listens to metal. You may not listen to it together in the car, but one is just weird, but at least attracts men..
Then there are Drake fans..
Yah and the violent overtones towards specific groups in extreme metal are less prominent due to more selection and more variety in the base for the bands lyrical content. I am sure that helps present more options for people who don't necessarily want to listen to songs about dismemberment or sexual assault or bad experiences with religious leaders in one's local community.
@@dannycummings3095 ya, more lyrics about alien invasions in brutal death metal. The chicks love it
No they don’t. It’s just trendy to pose and wear the merch
even if that's true (it's not in my experience but that's anecdotal so grain of salt or whatever) whomever is wearing the merch is still advertising the art to a wider audience, which then has the potential to introduce more people and the end result then remains that more people listen to it.
Definitely part of it. Not an exclusive metal thing though. Nirvana and Sublime have a ton of posers as well
@@MrSoftserved"Wow that shirt is cool"
"Thanks"
"What's their music like?"
"Idk"
How does this help anyone?
@@symptomofsouls okay and then you look it up? In your scenario there's a person that's never seen the band name, let's say Discordance Axis as an example, and now they are aware there's a band named Discordance Axis. They were not aware of this name before and now they are. Your strawman now has the knowledge of a phrase that didn't exist to them before as a google-able/spotify-able/youtube-able entity
@@symptomofsouls you look it up? You've now been made aware of a band and can check out their music now that you've heard their name? My kids read a new word in a book and they know how to Google search the definition, idk why your made up people can't do that? You've never heard the name Toxic Holocaust before, you're now aware of the name as an entity, and then you search it to find out.
Everyone should be a metal head 💀💯.
I went to a Korn and Alice In Chains show in 2019 and there was tons of different Mixture of people there.
I noticed around 2014 everyone started getting septum piercings and dying their hair and trying to look alternative...I can assure you after a couple conversations they are NOT listening to hard rock lol
Yes, also tunnels and neck tattoos especially the girls but they don't even listen to hardcore let alone metal but bands like Starset, Foo Fighters and Breaking Benjamin. They really just like this particular aesthetic but they're not into heavy music at all.
It’s awesome! I was outside the other day and my 58 year old neighbor was jamming Gojira! We talked music for over an hour after I yelled across the yard that Gojira rules 🤘🏻🤘🏻
I'm 58 I started listening to the 80s music as I got older my shit got heavier now I'm listening to Rotting Christ nile archspire and so on and so on
@@jacintofragoso1211🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Oh ya, nile is what i grew up on lol@@jacintofragoso1211
To be fair, we all just see people at Gas Stations or Restaurants in Lorna Shore hoodies now. It's not like chicks are wearing Vulvodynia shirts to their doctors' appointments now. :D
Long Live Heavy Metal 🤘🏻👊🏻🤘🏻
He’s right about that Mitch comment. 100 percent.
Old school bands like exhumed and cannibal corpse have been grinding since the 1990's. They've laid a nice groundwork for deathcore. Bands like suicide silence are about to breakthrough. We'll be getting old together bro. Stoked to see y'all play for another 20 years.
CC and Exhumed still killing it
Deathcore is becoming popular because it's trendy now with all those kids with tattoos up to their eyeballs. Death and Black Metal are as unpopular as always and that's beautiful
Bm is a tiktok genre now wym 😹
@@memcore1312that's true and Gen Z Tiktokification of black metal is cringe.
@@gx1tar1er I mean I’m all for it because it’s now one less safe space for incel edgelords 🙏
Agree
POV: this guy tells you Deathcore is cool
recently spoke with girl in mayhem tshirt who doesnt know who the f they are. all of that was in 2000s with metal and metalcore, 2010s with post hc, deathcore is now
There's a fashion trend of metal shirts especially with logos you can't easily read. Don't ask me why but it's true. Lots of chicks wearing those shirts only because it looks cool
Metal has ALWAYS been cool. Now the uncool listen to it. Tribalism over in the world of music, and, being born in '73, I kinda liked wearing my "colors" 🤟
I love more people being into the heavier stuff. I hate gate keeping let people enjoy.
Sometimes gatekeeping the essential in order to keep a genre alive and not to be some amalgamation of whatever you interpret metal to be, unfortunately you end up looking like some sort of elitist loser that don't want people to listen to the music you love which is the downside of it but I think a little bit of that is important it's very important to go no that's not metal that's something completely different
We need to gatekeep lol
I have learned the hard way that gatekeeping is based
There's no benefit to gatekeeping.
Mitch made dethcore cool
Because metal isn’t the counter culture anymore. Most of it is just EDM with distorted guitars.
Think Bradley Hall pointed this out last year and I can't unhear it
You have a point but it really depends on the sub genre. Metal is truly mainstream with some metalcore or nu metal bands but certainly isn't with black metal and brutal death metal, slam, deathgrind.
Its also that most metalheads in their 30s don't dress like they used to in their 20s. The camo shorts/combat boots/metal tees stop being your wardrobe when you have a family/get into a career ect my music has never changed, but I'd never be picked as a metal guy on the weekends.
Idk bro, I’m in my 40s and still dress like that 😂
I'm like Travis
True it's what's in right now.
Hurry up man 😂
As a 40-year-old comedian and lifelong headbanger, I love the state of heavy music. If you're dope, then you're dope. That's why Lorna Shore, Sanguisugabogg, and Knocked Loose broke into the mainstream.
@@blastbeatindustries3191 knocked loose blows. Welfare metal, they are. Oh wait, you're a comedian. I think you were trying to be funny there?
@@karchariasxiras ^ this person is shocked and outraged by Biden's debate performance.
@@blastbeatindustries3191 Beneath the Massacre kicks ass, I know.
@@blastbeatindustries3191you're not very funny. Do you have a job? Lol. Biden sucks and so does Knocked Loose with their weak SpongeBob vocals
Its the circus guys. Metal and heavy rock is coming back. Every 15 years the music industries fuck with people and control them. Stay true and keep it real. Push the fakes out of the way. Underground forever
I wouldn't even say "normal people" are listening to metal it's just a subgroup of people like as a popular on an app
I am seeing a lot of younger girls getting into metal
Do you like it?
Yeah, it’s ok… I guess
Then I Hate it!!!
I have just listened to this group call King 810 under the black rainbow😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
Everyone pfff No, it will never be popular.
Already is. Nu Metal bands filling stadiums
Im gonna sound like a hater but im gonna say it anyways..... The chick on the cover of the video had a six feet under shirt. Chris Barnes drives me crazy with the EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. In Corpse I 1,000% prefer George and I think George is an amazing vocalist
SFU's first Album is a straight Banger. I've been addicted to it for a few weeks now. Their new stuff sucks, although their new Album isn't all Bad.
No it is not cool now it's just not so much a sausage fest anymore which is great but please let's not act like it's anywhere near mainstream
I absolutely think lyrical content helps. As the blatant misogyny has cooled down, a lot more women have shown up. I’ve been listening to this shit for 17 years now and Ernie is absolutely right. There are more women around now, and it’s great to see. As metalheads have chilled out, women started coming around. It’s cool to see
That's not Eddie bud
@@jxxdeez you’re right, pretty sure my autocorrect fucked me
I noticed that too
Nope……😂
I actually stopped listening to metal because its gotten incredibly redundant since maybe 2011. Im tried of hearing just repeatitive chugging. Ill go listen to dino era fear factory if i want that...
Then you have acts like brojob, which turn it into a parody...
Every band logo looking like a wad of splooge and unable to comprehend/relate an actual story from any of the songs.
Ill be honest.
I havent had respect for metal in many years.
Is it better than pop and nickelback and sex rap.... obv....
But it isnt by much these days.
You're listening to the wrong bands. Check out New Ulcerative, Job for a Cowboy, or the Synestia split
Seems like a lot more posers and “fashion” choices as opposed to listeners or fans. Either way, it is what it is😂
Band shirts with only the illegible logo on it are trendy now. Don't know why but it is. It's a fashion thing
