There are much, much better videos out there that explain how to repair/replace than this one. I was totally confused with the switching between plastic & metal valves. I also feel steps were missing.
Steps are missing, like showing the VERY important replacement of the rubber seats and springs when using the cartridge type stems, which placed me in a pickle.
Outside of our index cap being a twist off (almost gave up!), This video was absolutely amazing! Once we figured that out, it took us longer to relight the pilot on the water heater and turn the water back on, than it did to replace the stems! 45m or so total, and less than 25 dollars at Home Depot to fix our leaky shower. Thanks so much!
Thank you for including what type of set up it is I’ve been trying to look for this repair for, but didn’t know the name of what kind of set up I had so thank you
An ALLEN WRENCH instead of a 'seat removal tool'! Wow! No other vid on this topic tells you this. I have Allen keys, I do not have, and do not want to buy - a "seat removal tool" that I hope I will never have to use again. Thank you!!
Why would you make this video and not show the replacement of the spring and rubber seat in the cartridge style stems? I replaced my stems and did not know about replacing the seat and spring. I had water coming out of the shower head that wouldn’t shut off. Had a plumber come out and said I selected the right stems and had put them in correctly but I had to replace the rubber seat and springs, which were worn out and needed to be replaced…You guys really need to redo this instruction video.
Somebody please help me hey Sam I installed a new plastic stem the whole shebang the new spring with the little thing or after I turn the water back on and water is running through my Fossett my tub even though it seems to be in the office position and if I turn the hot and cold and more water comes out at a faster rate but if I turn everything into the office position there still water leaking you’re not leaking but running
@@ratbastard4u you need to make sure that the new replacement is identical to what you have now..otherwise things will not work…I can’t remeber what I was meaning in this comment..but I remeber what I had at first wasn’t exactly so I had to get another piece ..be sure that you don’t buy more then you need ..
William Bradshaw this could be from the seat being too worn out or an improper washer was used and a thicker one was needed between the seat and cartridge
If it keeps leaking you most likely have the old nylon washer stuck inside. Make sure the whole valve inside is clean and free of debris and make sure your switching seats and using Tephlon tape on threads without over lapping any other parts of the seat just threads. If you want to get crazy you can use some Key tite just a smidge before re threading your seat on going in a reverse spin pattern before actually threading on to make sure theres no cross threading issues. Also use your using faucet grease for the inside of your new stems before installation. Good luck to you.
almost explained in video type of thee knobs. I don't see where spring and rubber seat inside part. I replaced both spring, rubber, and part faucet. I see still leaky. Have store sell three faucets? I don't find it. they sell only one faucet as center. hum. Thanks nice video.
This little ruclips.net/user/postUgkxVoi3B4CB6Oygq1-vo4OTL1M_M5JkrXif tub works perfect in our 6 x 6 shower and is easy to get in and out. Also easy to drain.
The music is very disturbing , mess with peoples nerves, please remove or change to a relaxing song when people are looking solution to their problems they need a relaxing song or no song at all.

How did you find the stem model?
Thank you for including what type of set up it is I’ve been trying to look for this repair for, but didn’t know the name of what kind of set up I had so thank you
It would have been useful to show replacing the spring and rubber seat.
No, it's imperative that you show how the spring and rubber seal go in.
Am , looking for the correct any to install the ( spring + rubber ) also , we're one of you guy's able to locate such a video ?
@@johnsimpson3708 say , were you able to locate a video showing - how to replace the ( spring & rubber ) seal pieces ?
Finger nails , please show us how to replace the ( spring & rubber seal ) " please " ?
Right! I forgot which way it came out. I think it was wrong from the jump
So does the clip stay on the valve stem when replacing it
It should show you how to position the plastic type valve before you put the handle on. Ots missing alot.
We have a plastic stem and a metal stem. The plastic one is broken. Could we just change it to a metal stem?
Is a spring and seat needed for plastic cartridge type in a tub?

Easy to mke a video on a brand new faucet and that too an incomoplete video without the details of the seat and spring.
Not helpful. How do you repair the middle valve????
What is the part in the wall called? Mine looks like a chunk broke out but idk what it's called to order one. It's the thing the stems screw into
It’s called a bib or seat
Mine not so simple as had to come from behind the wall to get at mine to replace whole unit.
Should I use teflon tape or compound to seal the stem body?
On these the rubber gasket is the seal so it's not needed I'm sure you've solved your problem by now though
You don't need it. They are sealed.
That escalated quickly 👀

What's the problem only the middle iS working
What if my water is coming out of shower head and tub faucet at the same time?

What if the water wont turn off completely after putting the stem back in?
William Bradshaw this could be from the seat being too worn out or an improper washer was used and a thicker one was needed between the seat and cartridge
Look inside at the faucet seat with a flashlight. If it is damaged or corroded, replace the seat. This requires a seat wrench.
@@SailingFanatic say , what is a seating wrench ?
@@montellwilliams811 hi Montell , just saw your question. Here is a great video explaining it: ruclips.net/video/qF_4BGZLP1E/видео.html
Did all of this and handle still leaks this time. I replaced it 7 times. It lasts for six months then leaks again
Because its Danco

You can get parts needed at plumbing supply store, Home Depot has some of the plumbing parts also

I need that exact retainer nut where can i buy it?
Hardware store or Plumbing Supply store. Take the old one with you to ensure an exact match.
Great teaching!
This video leaves out so many steps, tools, and proper instruction. Find the fix video somewhere else
Why not just replace both since they are likely the same age?
THAT IS BRAND NEW LOLOL
This was not helpful at all.
Talking about one thing while another. Not good.
Yeah, I thought the same thing. She's pointing to the cold water valve while discussing the shower and tub spouts
I guess if someone is completely clueless then this’d help but otherwise, complete waste of time with old delta 3 knob setup
This is the worst DYI video I believe I've seen
@Brendan Stephens speech to text got me
Its total crap. Danco is NOT listening and it's reflected in their difficult to replace product. Junk made in China.

I disagree. The music is neither disturbing nor messing with my nerves
