Hardy Geraniums: How to Get a Rebloom ✂️

- My hardy geraniums bloomed in late May and early June and I'm finally getting around to cutting them back. Doing so sends a message to these tough perennials that I don't want seeds, I want flowers. In a matter of weeks, my hardy geraniums will flush out new growth and in just a few weeks more, an encore of fresh flowers.
Here's how to do it...
Hi there! My name is Heather and I garden in zone 5B, recently changed to 6a, in the southwest suburbs of Chicago on a small residential lot. My garden lives a whole lot larger than it is and I love sharing tips and tricks, as well as plenty of mistakes, with others who love to play in the dirt.

what a beautiful yard
@@pennyturk Hi Penny, thanks!
Hi Heather. Thanks for all of your educating videos. I truly miss your replies however.
I cut down my salvia also. A neighbor told me yrs ago that I shouldn't do that. Well, I quietly proved my reasoning 😁 and I don't know why she would tell me, you should see hers 😂 LOL.
Hi Gina! I wonder what your neighbor’s reasoning was for not cutting back. Would be interesting to see their reaction when they saw yours!
Who knows but, she should do some better homework! ☺️😉
What fertilizer & mulch did you use? It looks so rich. Thank you!
@@lucart08 Hi there! I don’t use fertilizer on my perennials. I do top dress around them with compost every few years and I only apply hardwood mulch fines to my new beds to suppress weeds and help with moisture retention. Once they fill in, mulch isn’t necessary, IMO.
