I have always been a Bangles fan, but it wasn’t until that long ago that I started buying used copies of their records. And yes, they still tour sporadically, I wish I could see them in concert!
This whole concert rocked. I wish I would have been there live. Michael is ultra cool and all are such great talents. Priceless part of our rock history.
These girls rocked harder than we were led to believe in the 80s. I always appreciated their hits but now as I am about to hit 50, I am appreciating the musicianship and energy they had (or have).
I agree. I am susanna's age and I remember Manic Monday, Egyptian on MTV and the radio. It was as if they were ms. Hoff's and her backup band. As for the go gos I liked because their hits were catchy and I had a crush on Jane Weidlin. But I think, thanks to RUclips, the Bangles are a better band. IMO Vicki Peterson is one of Rock's best guitarist. All four are incredible musicians. Also, their producers,/ managers could have promoted Micheal Steele more- great bass player, pretty, beautiful singing voice.
Michael Steele is a bass goddess. Her technique is so unique and precise, I could listen to her playing forever and it wouldn‘t be enough. It‘s a real shame she never released a solo record.
To the Finest Ladies of Rock & Roll of Their Day rockin' out in The Steel City, Birthplace of my Mother, Gretchen Lauranne "Laurie" Wiant (1934-1979), thank you.
This is a great, often forgotten entry in their excellent body of work. I’m glad they included it in their setlist at least up to this point in performing career. It really should have been released as a single with a video - instead, in my opinion, of “Hero Takes a Fall” from the same album, “All Over the Place.”
Makes a change to see an audience dancing and cheering along! Nowadays everyone stands there with their phone in the air recording the show! The mobile phone has killed live concerts!
This is the true sound of the Bangles. The original sound on "All Over the Place" is more pop. Here they're really rockin it. You can tell by the distorsion on Vicki's guitar. And Michael's bass lines are the epitome of cool. Debbi's drumming inmaculate. And Susanna....well Susanna, with her cool tamborine and Rickenbacker. That's how they really sound. On the records is how the producers want them to sound. Vicki composed it, and FYI, she must have a terrible beef with some guy named James in her life. I love the Bangles, but I'm in love with Susanna, always have been.
This is too funny. I was at this show. It was only a half block from the radio station where I was the host for the Dr. Music Metal Show on WPTS and WPGH.
Special thanks to USA for producing some of the best rock music that I could ever dream of, and especially for these 4 gorgeous girls who really know their stuff.
“He” goes by “she” now, and is definitely a piece of work. 🙄 Nice at first, then months later, turns into a raging lunatic with absolutely no warning, and no rhyme or reason whatsoever.
during the harmony in the break-down around 1:38 (beautiful as always with these girls!), anyone else notice you can't hear Vicki? when you listen any other version, old and new (boot-legs sometimes), you can hear Susanna AND Vicki singing "down, do-o-own - let me down down down down". here I only hear Susanna. would that be M.T.V. turning Vicki down, attempting to bring the vocal focus to Sue?
Still my favorite Bangles song. Suzy with the Raccoon Eyez and the Ratted out hair, and just a hint of Baby fat. I don't know who this James guy was, but he blew it.
Has a vintage rock sound, like it could've penned by Buddy Holly. Also has elements of country, especially guitar riff just before the second verse and the bridge. Vicki's playing the hell outta that lead guitar! During an SNL retrospective, former cast member Al Frankel introduced a look back at their performance of Hazy Shade of Winter by sarcastically saying something about admiring their musicianship, the joke being that wasn't their strong point. This shows how utterly unfair that was.
I didn't see the Al Franken clip. Instead of saying the band wasn't respected for their musicianship, he may have been jokingly implying that he found them attractive.
on the last verse, does she say "take this SHIT for so long"? or is it "trip" like the album? It sounds like it sometimes in newer recordings (anyone know about those?), but what about here?
Ha! Yes! Sue definitely says "I can only take this SHIT for so long" on the last verse. I've watched this video a few times and I never noticed that. Nice catch!
@@the_tone7167 Do you hear it then? I know she does in recent years; you can hear it in audience-shot videos. but here, they're young, less-known, and more "by-the-book" for lack of a better phrase. would she swear in this too? It is however her favorite swear; you can hear her say it all the time, old and new, ha ha
All Over The Place is such a great album and this band was so great live, it's a real shame they let their label and producers stifle their rock and push them into shitty pop like Manic Monday.
Manic Monday would have been a great rock song if they didn't use that piano and let the guitars do the work instead. Listen to Billy Joe Armstrong's cover (with Susanna jumping and rocking).
@7855waldo You're right. He's a clown. But I had to take the opportunity to counter to stupid comment. Unfortunately he is influential, given that many left-wing political junkies and book-buyers think he's brilliant. Nice to have this forum to vent and express one's opinion.
Thank God she didn't concentrate. We had far too much of that finger tapping and busy shit in the 80's. It seemed as if every guitarist of the era was trying to copy him--everything from the way they played, even the equipment he used. At least 50 % of the people who played guitars in the 80's played a super strat with a humbucker in the bridge position and a Floyd Rose on it. I was sick of that by 1985 and it continued until the Seattle bands exposed those bands for the pathetic jokes that they were. I've had enough of Eddie Van Halen and his many imitators for five lifetimes.
I have always been a Bangles fan, but it wasn’t until that long ago that I started buying used copies of their records. And yes, they still tour sporadically, I wish I could see them in concert!
I do not think they have appeared together since 2019, pre-pandemic. They’re all busy with individual projects and appearances though.
This whole concert rocked. I wish I would have been there live. Michael is ultra cool and all are such great talents. Priceless part of our rock history.

All of them are pretty, but we all know Susanna just stands out. To be fair to Susanna, she also never liked the focused attention.
This absolutely rocks. The guitar is awesome, heavy and upfront in the mix and, by jove, can Vicki wield that axe! These women are goddesses!
Michael Steele is a bass goddess. Her technique is so unique and precise, I could listen to her playing forever and it wouldn‘t be enough.
It‘s a real shame she never released a solo record.
No much of a player I am sorry to say to you!
James Sim Opinions vary, dude 😉
Yes, Michael Steele’s bass playing, especially in this early part of this performance, was an excellent part of the Bangles’ sound.
Also her tone. She really digs in with that pick. Whoever engineered her tone did a great job, especially for the 80's.
Need to get out dude and smell the roses.
Michael is making here great job
I miss her
One of my very favorite Bangles songs. Sadly, it remains somewhat obscure and overlooked.
Fantastic performance of one of the Bangles' most underappreciated songs. This is power pop perfection.
love how micki introduced the next song thru that playing
To the Finest Ladies of Rock & Roll of Their Day rockin' out in The Steel City, Birthplace of my Mother, Gretchen Lauranne "Laurie" Wiant (1934-1979), thank you.
Sweetest voice, Susanna!
How can you not love this?
Only if you're suffering from a mental disorder :-)
@@ullischuster1263no. I am sick and twisted but find this song rocks
❤Such beautiful harmonies
Absolutely love this song 🎵❤, awesome performance, would love to hear this live ❤

James is a great song. Best track on their debut album in my opinion.
Very much like an early Beatles song, great stuff
Song I was named after 😂
That is awesome, James Nash!! We have a kitten named James who goes by Jimmy ❤
Thier underrated songs are the best.
totally agree
This song always reminded me of author James Agee. I love the breakdown in the middle. Female empowerment!
We miss you Mikki!
God bless sweet Micki, and her dear pets, and Please kindly keep them both well & safe, friends.
Sentimental Song For Me.
My favorite Bangles song ever!
Lindas! O Brasil ama The Bangles!
Dang! I love the Bangles!
There is no better girl band than the bangles.....

Agree
全盛期のバングルスのカッコよさには比類がない…
Micki I love you so much.
Makes a change to see an audience dancing and cheering along! Nowadays everyone stands there with their phone in the air recording the show! The mobile phone has killed live concerts!
The upside is there’s more footage to watch on RUclips of concerts 😂 and some of it is pretty good 👌
Chicas las amo !!!

For sure, Place is much more “clean”, although interestingly you can hear even Vicki’s riff part way through the album version. Nothing beats live
Michael steele lindaaaaaa
This is better than the studio version. The guitar here rocks!
As a James this song was too on point.😳
This is too funny. I was at this show. It was only a half block from the radio station where I was the host for the Dr. Music Metal Show on WPTS and WPGH.
So....was it as good as this shows?
Special thanks to USA for producing some of the best rock music that I could ever dream of, and especially for these 4 gorgeous girls who really know their stuff.
Vicki always seemed to have fun looking for the "Jims" in the crowd! Love it!
And we loved it. :-)

Fantasticsongfantasticgirls
Vicky Peterson look super hot and she’s a very good guitar player and she looks really good in that red dress
Smoking hot and she plays smoke. She is awesome.
This fellow, James, may have been a complete bastard, but at least he did inspire one of the best songs ever!
“He” goes by “she” now, and is definitely a piece of work. 🙄 Nice at first, then months later, turns into a raging lunatic with absolutely no warning, and no rhyme or reason whatsoever.

awsome
Vicki was the original vocalist on this song
and a very underrated guitarist.
I hear Susanna singing the lead vocals on the All Over The Place version. Are you referring to a version before they recorded All Over The Place?
Actually, Vicki composed this song.
A CLASSY ACT.....AND NOT ONE TATOO ON ANY OF 'EM.....GO YOU GALS!
Hey! Vickie did the eye dart thing! 1:16.
Susanna looks so cool shaking that tambourine lol.
Is this song about Falling James from the Leaving Trains??
Still my favorite Bangles song. Suzy with the Raccoon Eyez and the Ratted out hair, and just a hint of Baby fat. I don't know who this James guy was, but he blew it.
Bass tone reminds me of Gentle Giant.
Nice.
i so want Mickie skirt and

What's all this noise about Micki?? How about sweet Sue?? What a honey! If I was Prince, I wouldn't just give her one song; I'd give her an album.
Who is playing the organ?
Walker Egleheart was a longtime keyboardist for them.

If Vicki consentrated she could of been like female EVH almost, sort of

Two minutes, fifty-two seconds of Viagra.
es impresionante como micki domina el bajo en este tema y sigo pensando que Susana tiene vos de cacatúa
JAMES... I don't like that guy, he needs to do better.
the worst thing of the 80's big hair!
