I'm currently binge rewatching Hogwarts Reacts of Lost and was wondering if anyone else noticed that the MRI machine makes a mechanical clicking noise? I think this is a sufficient answer for the "Rose's familiar sound" question. She probably would have had to undergo a similar MRI exam during her cancer treatment at some point.
Brian, I just want to say it again, but I reaaallly hope you'll be showing them the extended finale! Those scenes that hulu cut out are amazing and deserve to be watched!
1) The intro in which the oceanic airlines guy picks up Christian's coffin is missing. 2) Jack and FLocke when they're lowering Desmond into the cave. Man in Black says how it reminded him of the hatch, and Jack stands up for Locke about how The MIB is not Locke and he is dishonoring the memory of the real Locke by wearing his face, and says it turned out John was right about everything 3) Miles notices Richard has his first grey hair, and Richard realises he's mortal now and wants to live 4) Hurley and Ben interacting outside the church. Hurley telling Ben he was a good Number 2 and Ben telling Hurley he was a good Number 1. Possibly some more stuff too. I can't check it now but last I saw it was in two parts: Part 1 is 43:03 in length and part 2 is 43:02 in length. That is 86 minutes total, but the length of the full finale is 104 minutes, so that's quite a bit cut.
George George omggggg no they definitely can’t miss them scenes!! The grey hair bit and the hurley and ben scene are so iconic to me. I had no idea there was another version which cut them out xxx
They're watching on Brian's DVD's (or BluRays) I think, so they'll for sure watch the original cuts. I think Brian only uses Hulu for the in-reaction screen for us
Ahhh I work in Radiology, MRI is a 3D image and you can visualize them in different planes, whereas Xray is just a flat image (2D basically) which are harder to differentiate anatomical structures. MRI is a huge magnet where Xray and CT utilize ionizing radiation. MRI is better detail and usually used for spine, extremities, the downside is MRI takes a lot longer than a CT exam, so CT’s are usually a more STAT exam like for strokes or Pulmonary Emobli. Most likely Desmond would’ve had a CT first because he had head trauma and they were trying to rule out a brain bleed/subdural hematoma, so this scenario was very much a Hollywood situation for the sake of storytelling
Very interesting! (I think we can give the writers the benefit of the doubt by saying Des going straight to the MRI can be explained in-universe by the nature of the flash-sideways, though - they're geared towards getting people to remember...)
This episode is so damn good. For me, this is when the real season 6 started. Now all the remain episodes are so good. I can't wait for the finale, i hope they are gonna se the uncut series finale.

It's great to see the gang properly back onboard with the series - I'm incredibly curious about how they'll react to the ending! In other news, loving Hannah's hair - I know they've finished watching now, but hopefully Jeremy will dye his beard that colour too in time for some photos for the final edit - official hair colour of Team Sideways!
I would really hope that you watch the end in a separate day on its own, so that it would be sort of special and it will have all the focus. But of course you do whatever fits with your own scheduled. :)
X-Rays see Bone and air filled structures well (like Lungs). An MRI can see soft tissue and cartilage well (and it can see bone better as well). So for backs, you can see the disc spaces, the vertebral column, spinal cord, connective tissues (like ligaments) really well.
Jeremy keeps asking about why Rose thought the smoke monster noise reminded her of something and in this episode we finally hear it when Desmond is in the scanner (I assume Rose went into something similar to investigate her cancer spread).
@@kuhpunkt it's a fan theory that smokey absorbs people's character traits and memories, and when it gets near Rose it reads her memories of being scanned in MRI machines and incorporates that into its noises, or something like that. (Personally, I think the answer is just 'it makes that noise because it does, and Rose thinks it sounds familiar because it reminds her of NY taxis'.)
@@TerryNationB7 But that's not even in the pilot?! Rose's line (and the discussion she had with the other survivors) was barely to show that the monster sounded familiar and foreign/strange at the same time. The monster initially didn't even have any mechanical sounds when she referred to it.

When could it have scanned her?! :D (And yes, the monster just makes those sounds, because it's got to make SOME sounds - the taxi printer was added later in post production and wasn't even planned when they wrote/filmed that scene. MRI is short for *Magnetic* Resonance Imaging. A giant electro-magnet like what Desmond was subjected to on the island. Probably not as powerful, but enough to trigger "flashbacks" to the alternate reality.

I did a bit of research and found out that their version was based on the version by Hawaiian singer "IZ" (or Israel Kamakawiwo'ole - ruclips.net/video/V1bFr2SWP1I/видео.html ) which I know I have heard before. On the Wikipedia page for the song, it says it's been used in commercials and TV shows including LOST. Does anyone know if the song was ever used in LOST? If it was, I can't track down which episode. Combining a song from Wizard of Oz with Hawaii does seem to make it a perfect CANDIDATE for a song to be used in the show, don't you think?
Wikipedia has this wrong, apparently. They might be confusing it with Wash Away or memories of fan videos. But it's not used on the show. (Lostpedia confirms: lostpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Songs)

What I don't get about Charlie is in this episode it seems like he is woke and knows what's up, but then he gets woke again in the finale. Why did he get woke twice?
SEE.... now this is a spoiler, but this reaction (and the excitement/intrigue) is exactly what makes the finale so disappointing to a lot of people! The stuff that makes this episode as great as it is, in the end, doesn't really matter so much. I really feel like this reaction has explained to me why so many people were disappointed.

Amazing episode... So many references to the previous Seasons. Now we go for the final escalade.
I'm constantly amazed that no matter how much people get down on a season of Lost, one episode with Desmond pulls them right back in.
