I added this to a playlist a very long time ago, and back then, I had tweets turned on, so it tweeted that I did that. Today, I got a notification saying that Doug Spata himself had liked that tweet.
I love how it sounds like a war, like two people clashing against each other, shows conflict. And how the cello sounds. WOW I COULD JUST DIE.. (yes literally)
This song to me isn't like one of those other songs where you have to force yourself to play it, but instead you want to play it. I love this song the most out of all our violin pieces.
This song brings back many, many memories. I loved it from the moment I laid eyes on it. It has this pleasant effect that makes you think back and reflect on your earlier childhood and how much you've grown and how many experiences you've gone through. This feeling is significantly augmented when you actually play the music.
preston marrott Violas are the middle voice of the orchestra, and usually carry the melody with 2nd Violins or Cellos when needed. Without Violas, there would be lots of problems with it sounding in tune since everything would either be really high or really low, and there would be lots of awkward and empty harmonies. An orchestra sounds incomplete without any of the instruments, everyone plays an extremely important role in terms of balancing and harmonizing. Using that logic, a bass isn't necessary.
well, every instrument is not needed in an orchestra. anyone could have an orchestra of straight violins or base or cello, or even violas. but to make it sound not too high or not too low, but just the perfect sound, you need all including viola...
God i remember last year at our concert, some of the kids in my orchestra had found Doug on Twitter, and then he literally came to our concert where we played this song.
That's so cool one time we were in district assessment and played a song by Todd Parrish and he literally came up the stage and started talking about everything we did wrong lol
played this in sixth grade. We are playing it again for our pep-rally in march after spring break. It brings back AMAZING memories for me. I love this piece so much and it means a lot to me. You don't realize how much something like tat means to you and how many memories are created until you play it the next year. Im so happy and proud to have given that year of my life to my classmates. LOVE Y'ALL!!!!!!!!!!
When i saw this it reminded me of my strings teacher. She has gotten the song gargoyles (the song my group is playing) and gauntlet (the song that just came to her mind... i guess) mixed up. She says, "Okay everyone! get out Gauntlet!" lol. I felt like i needed to say that. ^_^
I played this in 8th grade ... I love this song.. N i love orchestra... But the high schools i went to.. Dont offer orchestra... I was so mad ... So i went to chorus in highschool in 9th grade... N been in chorus every since.. Now im in 12th grade and hopefully they offer it in college... N i definetly want to do opera classes in college too... But i love classical music...
I play the violin, guitar, and piano, and I agree that the violas are a great addition to this piece and are central to the structure. I played this in my 4th grade orchestra, and now I realize even more how amazing this piece is. Hats off to Spata!!!
I play the string bass, and this is a song that my school orchestra is learning. We sound pretty good, and I am quite proud! Love this song it is quite amazing

I'm so glad I have the sheet music for this song. Violins 1 & 2, viola, and bass. I loved this song so much I decided to take all these parts, put them together, and translate them into guitar tablature.
I play viola and I'm playing this in my 6th grade spring concert! I love it so much, in our winter concert we played another song by Dough Spata, Gargoyles
I'm working on this in orchestra and it's kinda hard lol I'm in violins 2 part tho so I'm guessing cello or viola would be harder from the sound of it. I totally go lost in orchestra when we played this lolol

In Orchestra every instrument is important like how basses and violas cellos and violins with 2 violins. I LOVE IT
violas arent completely necessary, use a base
preston marrott Violas are the middle voice of the orchestra, and usually carry the melody with 2nd Violins or Cellos when needed.
