I’m very interested to hear everyone’s thoughts! I liked a good part of Onward but it just felt like it was missing something.
5:40 I thought the same thing when I watched the film. However, on closer inspection now, I see there is no horn on the painting, making it a Pegasus. Not quite sure how those fare...

the ending is awful!! Coco is emotional but you get coco meeting her dad is it so satisfying. they could have been like hector only sees coco for a second before he fades. but no we had a happy ending. I HATE that ian didn't get to even hug his own dad.
It feels like a Pixar movie but it doesn’t look like a Pixar movie
5:42 because it's a pegasus, not a unicorn. 8:53 no one was looking for the gem because no one uses magic anymore. Magic was present when Ian was gaining confidence.

Yeppers, I thoroughly enjoyed because it was so entertaining and it got so emotional. But I kinda still want a smart, unforgettable, top tier pixar movie. I feel like we haven't really gotten one since Inside Out and sorrrt of Finding Dory. which are sandwiched between a bunch of just ok movies, I mean I barely even remember cars 3, which seems to be how most people feel?

It’s fake
I felt exactly the same. When they find the gem at the high school, I was annoyed...because I knew if they found it sooner, the film would be 10 mins long. A mediocre movie with a nice little ending, great animation, and some entertaining characters. But the plot was a MacGuffin quest in the worst way, and the solution didn’t feel earned. Two and a half (out of four). Is Pixar losing their touch?
