I DEF agree with the idea that Elemental has a lot of factors that will make the cost of seeing it not worth it, however i think you overstated the lesbian thing.
It sounds like it was another 2 second thing in a movie centering a straight romance. That wont make this a LGBT sub-genre movie, especially if disneys not marketing it. Folks will find out when they get there so i dont think thats impacting the B.O.
I like your reviews, like always❤❤❤, but i think that hot take (especially the comparison to horror sub genre) was in bad taste. Yes Pixar ~may lose some small amount of $$ bc of it, but at this point they shouldnt placate homophobes over something that sounds like it was nothing, especially if predjudice is a big theme in the film. Does that make sense?
Cant wait to see more!! :))

As someone who just got out of seeing Elemental, I was personally pleasantly surprised by it and highly disagree with what you said. On its own merits, it's a great Pixar film with a beautiful message.
Also what the heck are you talking about? Because I saw absolutely nothing LGBT-related in it. 😂

Honestly, if we're talking about an interesting exploration of the fire & water relationship, I think that Adventure Time would be a much better watch specifically the episodes "Incendium," "Hot to the Touch," and "Burning Low."

Personally, I think Elemental was a more interesting exploration of the fire & water dynamic than those Adventure Time episodes. I love the movie Elemental and think it's one of the best Pixar movies.

I’ve really been loving these reviews the past couple of months and I’m not normally one to watch reviews at all, it’s even rarer for me to watch one from start to finish, but with yours I’ve been interested the whole way through. Keep it up!

    1. WALL-E
    2. UP
    3. Brave
    4. Inside Out
    5. Onward
    6. Soul
These are all of the films I enjoyed from Disney/Pixar that I felt like were more adult in tone, than kids actually enjoying them.
The reason the Toy Story franchise has been so popular, is because kids like the whole story of their toys being alive. Kids are simple and yes they may like the visuals of what Elemental shows, but they are going to tune out with the messaging of the story. If my eldest daughter sees any romance or kissing of couples in animation, she gets secondhand embarrassment and gets grossed out, so if she does that at 11 years old, this movie definitely isn’t something for kids who are younger.
I might watch it when it comes out on Disney+ since my husband pays for the service, but it doesn’t look good enough to want to see it at the theater. My kids are more interested in what illumination studios and Sony put out lately. Especially Super Mario Bros, both of my daughters loved that movie.

And to answer your question as to whether I'll see this...Maybe. 🤷‍♂️
Ill probably wait until it comes out on Disney+. Not in a hurry to see it in theaters. I'm spending my money on The Flash instead.

Just got out of Elemental, and l personally thought it was great. The relationship between Ember and Wade was beautifully done, Ember's relationship with her parents was very well-fleshed out, the world-building was super creative and amazingly detailed, and its underlying themes on living up to your parents' expectations vs. what you want were brilliantly executed. Aside from the liar reveal between the second and third act and a few unnecessary side characters, I pretty much loved it and think it's for sure one of the better Pixar films in recent years. Maybe not the best Pixar movie, but that doesn't bother me so long as it's good on its own merits.

You know… I don’t want to me a negative person. But.. this really affirms that the creativity in these major Disney Studios is just dead. It’s dead. I mean, after I saw TLM live action it finally hit me… there is nothing to really look forward to in either Disney Animation Studios or Pixar… and that’s just sad.

Then there's nothing to look forward to in films anymore as they are the only ones being creative.

@@arurasky I"m eager for the songs in it provided the star doesn't sing, heh what if they give the goat an "in Summer" type song? Not really like that one but the same vibes. But I've very concerned about the star in general. I hope my information regarding it isn't true, the person who supposed scooped it out isn't super reliable, but still.

Elemental was great from what I’ve heard, but they’re a victim of bad marketing/advertising, certain poor writing choices, and the criticism of white supremacists.
Anyway I hope you guys at Rotoscopers are excited for Wish in November

i think it’s amazing that Pixar is working to normalize LGBT+ characters in their films. like it or not some kids are gay, or have gay parents! it only feels weird to older generations because they didn’t grow up seeing that, but that doesn’t make it wrong or inappropriate. seeing a lesbian kiss isn’t going to turn your kid gay the same way that growing up on the classic Disney films didn’t turn gay kids straight. and even if it did, i would hope any parent would still love their child all the same.✌️

This movie has been the worst or second worst opening for a Pixar movie ever. The people responsible for it will be fired. Disney can no longer afford to lose 100 million plus per movie.

  • @ThePastAnalysis

I think Elemental was an outstanding movie, but I think it's weird to classify this as LGBT. There was one LGBT couple that was on the screen for like 3 seconds.

the fact you think there is a market cap on lgbt stories is pretty misguided and airing on the side of homophobic, basically implying those stories aren’t for a wide audience, yet queer people have to sit through straight stories since we were born …. I’ll never forgot being such a huge fan of this podcast then the week of George Floyd’s murder, you tweeted nothing about police brutality but instead were shaming people looting from stores. your bias seeps into your reviews no matter how PC you try to be about it.

This miovie is a skip. Not even worth watching on Disney+. Referring to a single person as "they" is never an okay thing. But I'm glad to hear that children aren't into this, whew. Or most likely aren't. Lightyear was the same, I heard kids whose parents took them to it were bored.
This is how should be if Disney is going to insist on doing this in their movies. What they did here is so bad, I wanted to cancel my Disney+ subscrition. I doubt I actually will, Disney Channel is very nice, at least until super, suer recently, like early stuff this year is a yes but right now I'm concerned about it a little. Anyone, there's lots of old shows I have yet to go through, such as K.C. Undercover, Pair of Kings, and a fair deal of Wizards of Waverly Place.

I'm sorry. You lost me. When in Elemental did it refer to someone as "they"? Because I never noticed it. Lol
Also I personally recommend seeing Elemental. I was pleasantly surprised by it.

    • @episkeyss
      @episkeyss 11 месяцев назад

it actually is totally okay to use ‘they’ to refer to a single person and you have likely done it before. example:
“Hey, someone called for you on the phone.”
      “Oh, what did they want?”
it is grammatically correct, we have always used ‘they’ in cases where we’re unsure of a person’s gender so why not in this case :)
