- I watched every Swan Princess movie so you don't have to… // If you grew up in the 90s, you probably watched The Swan Princess, but did you know there actually are 10 The Swan Princess movies? They looked pretty bad, so I decided to watch them all and give you my thoughts on every Swan Princess movie!
This isn’t necessarily a Swan Princess ranking video (though I do tell you my thoughts on each), but I’ll talk about all your favorite Swan Princess quotes and moments like Derek’s famous line, “What else is there?”

besides I have almost all of the movies in home, I just need the swan princess: Royalty undercover, Kingdom of music and Royal wedding.
I’m a 90’s kid and I probably watched “Swan Princess” about 20 times. As a man, I’m not ashamed.

As someone born 6 years after the 90s ended, same. Fire soundtrack and great story
Derek didn't organise a dance so he can proclaim his love, Uberta organised it to find Derek another wife because she thought Odette was dead. Derek used the opportunity to proclaim his love to who he thought was Odette to save her from Rothbart, which he actually managed to do by killing him.
Why not have Odette be able to turn into a swan and a woman at will? That way you'd keep the whole "Swan Princess" thing, have her be more in control of the situation and give her a unique gimmick that separates her from other fairytale princesses.
I love that idea!
It would also free them of the need to create a reason for her to get transformed into a swan every other sequel.
I came up with that idea when i rewrote the first movie. I brought back Odiel she is actually good becomes close to Odette. She later becomes the royal court magician and makes it so Odette can change.
I still have a lot of nostalgia for the first three Swan Princess films (I stand by the first one being a masterpiece, This Is My Idea is top tier), but I couldn’t make it through the first CGI sequel 🙈 you’re a trooper
Haha thanks! A ton of people have told me how much they love the first three! I didn't own the Swan Princess movies growing up. It was always a treat when I would go to my friends house. So I only saw the 2nd/3rd ones maybe once and didn't have much attachment to them.
I don't know I love alise and Lucas I think the first one and the mystery are my favorite
So today I learned that the Swan Princess DTV sequels went off the rails faster and more dramatically than even the Land Before Time DTV Sequels. Which granted, the LBT DTV sequels get pretty weird, but at least they can say they never did a parody of Simon Cowell-era American Idol nearly *twenty dang blasted years* after the fact.
And the face of that dragon made me scream out loud. 😱
HAHA there were SO many things I forgot to mention (the video was already so long) but the human dragon face was one of them! 😂

The first three have a special place in my heart, because they were a huge part of my childhood. I have absolutely no interest in watching the CGI ones 😂😂 Congrats for making it through!
Thank you for covering this! I still adore the Swan Princess, it was my #1 favorite as a kid, and still holds a place in my heart. "Far Longer than Forever" is better than most Disney princess songs, in my opinion. And I used to think of Swan Princess in the bathtub because of the music video, "Eternity," at the end of the movie.
Oh man! I totally forgot to talk about "Eternity"! That song is a Jean-Bop.

The be honest the first three were good, I like them since they have good humor and songs. I also liked that Derek and Odette adopted a kid after her parents died. But I agree with your statement on the rest of the six movies. Like bad CGI, bad plots, and awkward moments 😫😫😞. Thank you for watching all of them.
The first three films were IT. The others? We don't acknowledge them.

So the Swan Princess (first two movies) have been my favorite as a kid. Still adore them to this day. I didn’t care for the 3rd...then in 2012 when I saw there was a Christmas movie, I was turned off by the change in animation...same for all the sequel after. So after watching your videos on the series, I was interested in giving it a try! Started with #5 A Royal Family Tale...looking past the differences from the 90s movies, I actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would! It’s story kept me interested & I liked the story of them adopting the little girl. Was it a hot mess overall, yes! But that made it even more fun to watch! I’m intrigued to see the last two films that scored higher in your tier.
I feel if you are an OG Swan Princess film who grew up with the original 2D films, these ones are worth a watch just for a good laugh. I agree with you, the stark change in animation is hard to adjust to at first, but as you can tell, by the end, I was totally all in and loving the ride. 😆
1:38 thanks to one of the recent Swan Princess movies. We now know that Uberta was good friends with Odette's parents, especially her mom. So marrying, her best friends husband was off the table.

Ohhhhhh this came out at the right time, I JUST rewatched the first movie for ol’ times sake! It definitely is one of my many guilty pleasures! I am a SUCKER for anything fairy tale entertainment related hehe!!
Only seen up to the first time their child shows up so this was a BLAST seeing how the “Swan Lake Saga” continues! Thoroughly enjoyed seeing your thoughts & actually hearing how they continue this story! ☺️😁💙✨🦢
YES! I love the original Swan Princess. I think I want to make a dedicated video all about it because I still had so much more to say about it! I poke fun at these movies but some of them aren't THAT bad (Definitely enjoyed 9 and 10 a ton)!
First Swan Princess movie was one of my childhood favourite movies. I had no idea there were so many sequels. I know 2 other movies soon followed. The Enchanted Treasure was a favourite as a kid. Glad I watched this video
Since no one has mentioned it yet, The Green Flame Torch was supposed to be the name of the sixth Harry Potter book. It was later changed to Half-blood Prince. My guess for the Green Flame Torch was that it was connected to the basin in the cave where the (fake) locket was located. Like, it lit the area or it needed to be extinguished in order to get to the locket.

I don't think the original Swan Princess movie was in any way a "cheap disney knockoff". If anything, it's a million times better than most Disney films that are made nowadays. I've seen the sequel some years ago, but forgot about it, the original movie will always have a special place in my heart ❤️
I'm wondering if the prince from Kingdom of Music only being human during sunset was inspired by the curse in the 1985 fil Ladyhawke, in which one lover was a hawk by day while the other was a wolf by night, and the only time they were both human was a brief few moments at sunrise and sunset....

I grew up in the 00s and 10s but I had a CD bundle with both the swan princess and A royal family. I was obsessed. I didnt even realise how horrific the animation in A royal family was

At first when I read the title I thought that I should experience all 10 movies myself, but thank God that I didn't!

@@Rotoscopers what are last 7 about? And if we're remade, just watch 3 and stop. And was there even more to story? At least 1st 3 belonged together. Also how many times can she supposedly get stuck as swan and turn back? 3 happened cuz prince messed up big. I liked the various solo perspective songs. I assume Zelda only happened cuz needed new villain and they never had odile. Live action is supposed to be swan princess plot, so we get the animals, plus they are adding odile and keeping this plotline, with all the differences from swan lake. Umm I guess my big question is are last 7 worth it and does story not feel forced, and if they tied it in with Sophia or whoever Disney little girl princess is, I dont want to watch. It's kinda like how beauty and the beast had a Christmas tale but that felt forced, we didn't need back story, 1 movie tied loose ends. Umm I know swan princess isn't disney but going by covers im hesitant to watch last 7, and im not talking for animation choices

I guess the reason uberta and William doesn't marry is that that would make them stepsiblings from young age which would be weird to then marry them unless uberta births a new heir
I think the reason why William and Uberta never married was because A) It wasn't pivitol to the story B) William and Uberta already had two healthy legitimate young heirs who could produce offspring and heirs to the throne of their own in the future and if William and Uberta had gotten together now, they'd have to produce another offspring themselves together and produce another legal heir.

Also the only movie i have ever seen is the first one and it was the best film of the time for princess movies they didn't do well because Disney straight-up sabotaged them during their release. But those other films look so horrible i will never watch
With all the wonderful stuff I enjoyed about this film, I say this film is a lot better than Sleeping Beauty which could have done better if Taylor Holmes turned down the role of King Stefan and not replace Hans Conried for that role, which that role for Conried would have been better for the film. Rogers is the reason why this film rocks and he does a better job in being the comic relief than Odette’s animal friends and King Stefan and King Hubert whom the fathers don’t lead to anywhere in Sleeping Beauty.

as much as I do love this movie franchise, and I watched up to five movies when I was a kid and didn’t hear about the other movies. But omg they just really did get worse 😅 I think I like the first three ones and the other two after the three are okay but they’re are a bit weird. I think I might watch the last two ones

I, once myself as a fellow Odette enjoyer decided to watch all movies… it was a torment non the less. I can’t even imagine how can such a masterpiece turn to such crap CGI… it came out LATER than first shrek but it was worse than ant animation from early 90’s. It just breaks my heart that something so great to something unholy.
P.S. maybe I have same overpowered magic and cursed the series cuz as a kid I wished that odette story would go on for 10 films… so that I just had enough VHS of her singing to watch… sorry 😅

Look I watched the CGI movies I didnt know they exist cause I only watched the first 3 and I decided to watch them honestly I have no problem with the 5th movie the rest of them are okay for me I started to like some of the new characters

I thought Whizzer was an interesting character but he was only in one movie and he was redeemed but still was forgotten. And from the first three movies it was implied that the forbidden arts had to be learned and then in the movie where they get a daughter the forbidden arts is some kind of entity with a personality and interacts with his minion and other characters. And the first I thought odette and Derek were now going to be King and queen of Odette's kingdom. But there is yet ANOTHER sequel where uberta FINALLY let's them takeover her kingdom. It's confusing because Alise is pretty much grown up so why wouldn't she have been made ruler? It is just confusing as the stories go along. And how confusing is it that Antonio's partner marked everyone with a "Z" when his name has an "M" makes no sense what so ever. But despite everything I do like the last two movies because of the diversity rhey add to the franchise.

I say this because when I was a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Tucson, my companion could do sign language and I couldn't. Then again, I'm a polyglot in spoken languages so it works out. I agree with our hostess. After the first Swan Princess movie, Derek's voice sucks.

I have to kindly disagree, all the movies were horibble, the first was literally a blond princess who needed a prince charming to save her and had all character washed away so anyone could put themselves in her shoes like with bella swan and only had a small amount of times where she was actually a smart able bodied princess
