Thank you so much for this video. Watched you take the V10 apart which helped me immensely. Last night I cleaned the filter letting it dry 24 hours yet today was still flashing clean filter. Removing the canister, cleaning it, then I noticed the small space on the side was FILLED! Don’t own another vacuum. So I took tweezers gently and pulled out SO MUCH DEBRIS! My vacuum is clean, up and running. Many thanks!
Thanks! This solved the starting and stopping issue that I was having. Just blowing out the metal mesh screen with my small, wet, dry vac solve the problem. I did not have to disassemble any more than you showed. Thanks again!
Thanks for posting this video which I found very helpful. It gives me the confidence to take it apart and put the parts back together after cleaning, without my husband’s help.
To clean the metal mesh filter, I unscrew and open it up carefully and tap dust out. Dust are actually stuck on small holes inside. It’s not somewhere you can vacuum from the outside. It’s amazing how much dust gets stuck in there. Without opening it up, it’s not really much of the deep clean 😢 that’s the only thing I don’t like about Dyson vacuum 😭
Thanks so much for the great info. I cleaned my Dyson for the first time, but now have a problem! The red gasket? and the grey ring that are in the bottom of the dust bin came out (even though I didn't mean for them to) and now I am not sure how to get them back in. Can you help?? Thanks Barb
I took it apart and cleaned it. Lots of fluff in a hole under the dust canister. Have used a chopstick to ease it out and am now ready to reassemble it. I don't want to force the canister back on and would have welcomed a demonstration of reassembling it safely.
Thank you for the video. But you should disassemble the cyclones every year or so because those cyclones get DIRTY!!! I personally don't have a V10 but I have a V6 and it was filthy!
Sounds dumb but with a heavy cathair loaded house I found that I have to change out the prefilter a lot. What I've done is to put a new filter in run it on max and bang the tubes in the main body. When the Dyson starts reporting filter error, while running, I twist off the filter. It turns off the Dyson but pushes out a lot of trapped dust. Do this outside. It has for me, fixed a lot of deep cleaning issues with filter errors
Thank you. I used my old dyson animal upright vacuum to clean and suck all the clogs (bunch of dog hairs) out successfully! Now the filter and the bin are getting dried.
wow, you must use yours a lot. i've never seen my filter that dirty and i clean up after 3 dogs. wish there was a reasonable way to access the cyclones for cleaning directly. They seem to hold on to a lot of dust.
Yeah I hear what you are saying about the cyclones. There are video of people taking apart other Dyson cordless models to clean them, but it is so easy to chip something doing that, and good luck getting a part like that if it breaks. Too risky.
The outside part of the cyclones are supposed to get dirty without having an effect on suction performance. If you want, you can use a leaf blower to get rid of the excess dirt.
I have taken the whole cyclone assembly apart from my DC40. I really can't recommend it, because some parts will need a lot of force to come off. It is only necessary if the cyclones get clogged. Best way to clean safely those small cyclone chambers is to use blower like you said. However if cyclones get clogged it won't work.
Yeah, I see some of the tutorials for complete disassembly and think, man, that is dangerous! It would be so easy to chip something and how would you ever find that part? Your right that in the unlikely case of a cyclone blockage it might be necessary.
Yeah it's risky. One wrong move and you will have to buy a whole new cyclone assembly. That's why I did the disassembly to my purple cyclone assembly. My yellow cyclone assembly is what I use for it now. Purple is just a spare part.
Good points! With the V10 there are no cyclone parts available anywhere, you cant get them from Dyson, and no one is selling them on Ebay, so you just have a useless V10 if you break it. 😭
The question i have is why are all these other companies making their cyclones washable whereas Dyson chooses not to. Yet in my experience the Dysons a long time (I’ve owned two in the past) Is cleaning the inside of the cyclones not required or is this planned obsolescence from Dyson
sorry, but I'm afraid this is far from a deep clean. Try doing that with a Dyson after using it daily for a few months - the clear plastic brush housing will remain dirty. To really clean it you need to dismantle the brush housing completely, because it gets dirty on the inside and there's no way to reach inside with a brush. This is a pain because it has a very thin gasket that will come out as you dismantle it and it's not easy to put back. I may be missing something - there may be a way to clean the clear plastic housing on the inside, this is what I was hoping to find and I stumbled on your video. If there is an easier way for a true deep clean please let me know.
I agree with you, cleaning clear plastic needs experience since reaching all the corners with a brush is nightmare. I am also looking for a video which can help me deep clean entire head (including clear plastic). Please recommend to me if you find one.
this video just cost me $50 for a new bin because the gasket came completely off. had to go all the way to the dyson store just for them to tell me they cant fix it. thank god i had a warranty because if not who knows how much more expensive this video would be
cleaning the metal mesh bit is the most crucial bit, because that is the bit whichcreates the vaccum in the bin. Im afraid you failed really badly. you dont want to use wet anything there, it will cake up the pores. you need to use something to clear the pores.
All looks great hete for usual dust, hair debris but my genius husband used a $400 vacuum on wet cat throwup whilst I was in the hospital. I can hardly bare to look at it. Ugh, sorry it's bad. 😢
geez dyson should come with a warning, totally unacceptable how much dirt folks have to come in contact with and I found a 50 euro basics cleaner outperformed the v10 from the off, no deep clean or much versatility from the off then to see how much clogging happens and a second one needed to clean the first...all that for 1 minute in high mode then 3 hours to recharge, I found it needed high as it was so weak...how long to do a house!
Thank you so much for this video. Watched you take the V10 apart which helped me immensely. Last night I cleaned the filter letting it dry 24 hours yet today was still flashing clean filter. That is great!
You need another Dyson to clean a Dyson. Great business model.
Thank you this is the best how to clean a Dyson V10 on RUclips.
The dislikes of this video absolutely baffle me. This was everything I needed and even dumbed down for me!!!
Thanks! This solved the starting and stopping issue that I was having. Just blowing out the metal mesh screen with my small, wet, dry vac solve the problem. I did not have to disassemble any more than you showed. Thanks again!
Nice one mate. Your dyson was pretty clean to start with. Mine looks like it been used by the chewbacca family for the last 6 months!
Thanks for posting this video which I found very helpful. It gives me the confidence to take it apart and put the parts back together after cleaning, without my husband’s help.
I preparing for my first cleaning of my v10 by watching this video. Everything I need to know is here so I believe Im ready!
Thank you for your detailed instruction video. I found this extremely useful. Have used all your suggested steps and have received great results.
Again, I thank you. I need to refer to it every time I need to disassemble and clean.
You're welcome!

because your cleaning a vacuum does that mean infact YOU are the Vacuum Cleaner!!!
😂
LOL
Oooooh!😲
So helpful! Cleaning mine right now
Thanks! It seems removing some of the dirt at the forward area helps the whole tube remove much easier.
Thank you. A seam ripper (sewing) works perfectly for removing the hair.
Great tip!
Great video! I didn't have a second vac lol so I just wiped all the parts best I could and used toothpicks.
Basically, vacuum the vacuum. Totally understand. Thanks for the video
You're welcome!

Thank you so much for this detailed instruction video. So much better than the one from Dyson.
You're welcome!
Dear Darryl Wilson, Thank you for this detailed video.
Excellent tutorial. The most fun was using the leaf blower - WOW that got a lot of stuff out.
A great trick to clean the brush roll without scratching it is a good seam ripper.
Thank you. You actually know something. Helped alot.
so i used a vacuum to deep clean the dyson, but now i have to deep clean the vacuum i used.
So I need to buy another Dyson to clean my Dyson 😭 but great video
Thank you for helping me learn to clean my new dysin
You are so welcome!
Just cleaned my dyson, for the weird metal piece in the bin, I rec packing tape for if you have pet hairs stuck in those holes.
Thanks for the tutorial!
You bet!
This video needs to be immediately renamed “How to vacuum your vacuum” 🙄 this is NOT deep cleaning.
I took it apart and cleaned it. Lots of fluff in a hole under the dust canister. Have used a chopstick to ease it out and am now ready to reassemble it. I don't want to force the canister back on and would have welcomed a demonstration of reassembling it safely.
Could you please recommend which Dyson is the best to clean a Dyson? ;-)
Lol, actually for Dyson V1o cleaning you will need the $1000 plus dollar Riccar Brilliance. 😀
Thank you for the video. But you should disassemble the cyclones every year or so because those cyclones get DIRTY!!! I personally don't have a V10 but I have a V6 and it was filthy!

You're very welcome!
Very helpful n detailed instructions. Thank u v much.😊
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you. I used my old dyson animal upright vacuum to clean and suck all the clogs (bunch of dog hairs) out successfully! Now the filter and the bin are getting dried.
Awesome!
how often would you do this?
Your video is the most helpful video I found. Thank you so much! 😊
Wow, what jazz music is this!? It's beautiful, haha. I searched but couldn't nail it down. Thanks for the cleaning tip. :)
Lol its a stock music song I bought the rights to from Audiohero.com called Brazil After Hours
Thank you! I found the artist!
Buying a vacuum to clean a vacuum. Strange concept. 😊
Very good video but it's for the USA V10 which while similar to the UK model is not in some respects though the video is 10 out of 10 for clarity.
wow, you must use yours a lot. i've never seen my filter that dirty and i clean up after 3 dogs. wish there was a reasonable way to access the cyclones for cleaning directly. They seem to hold on to a lot of dust.
I guess it was because of all the tests I did with various fine particles.
Yeah I hear what you are saying about the cyclones. There are video of people taking apart other Dyson cordless models to clean them, but it is so easy to chip something doing that, and good luck getting a part like that if it breaks. Too risky.
They are supposed to get dirty without it’s affecting the performance.

Do you recomend wd40 on the inox filter?

Yo dawg, I heard you like to clean with vacuum cleaner, so here's a video teach you how to clean your vacuum cleaner with a vacuum cleaner ;)
thats what i was thinking lol clean a vac with a vac
how to clean the tiny wheels is missing.
Thank you, how clean was your Hoover 😂
Why is the filter light staying on after cleaning
The question i have is why are all these other companies making their cyclones washable whereas Dyson chooses not to.

Great help. Thanks!
Great video. Thank you !
Thank you
I am so thank you for your video👍🏻🙏🏻❤️
Can I uninstall the motor to clean clear plastic?
Please clean a dirty one. Lol 😆 jk. Great video.

Clean the vacuum cleaner by having another vacuum cleaner. Nice. Thanks.
Forgot the small roll bar😅 It comes out too for easy washing,
other than that, thanks for the tips

Try the samsung vu4000
So I will have to buy another vacuum to deep clean my Dyson....😂
Deep clean? Looked more like just a surface clean. I didn’t see a single screw removed.
Nice video but unfortunately i dont have a second vac at home, except my Neato.... :-/
BUT you didn’t show or explain how to reassemble - I can’t get the bin back on !
Fabulous
TY sir
Once you clean it you are now a vacuum cleaner.
Seems like a lot of work to clean the vacuum cleaner on top of actually doing the vacuuming.
this video just cost me $50 for a new bin because the gasket came completely off. had to go all the way to the dyson store just for them to tell me they cant fix it. thank god i had a warranty because if not who knows how much more expensive this video would be

Basically clean your vacuum with a vacuum
A very shallow deep clean
wow life is not easy but expensive
leaf blower to clean your vacuum? why not just get... an air can lmao
this is like cleaning the insides of a car engine, difficult and it will get dirty immediately once it runs. in short, unnecessary
Well that was not a deep clean. The pipes up the back are full of garbage,
It is ironic just how awful and difficult Dysons are to clean 😂🙄
😂😂😂 it’s not a deep clean I can barely see a dirt. It’s just a dust and he is cleaning up with the help of another vacuum cleaner 👎🏻
Just cleaned my dyson, for the weird metal piece in the bin, I rec packing tape for if you have pet hairs stuck in those holes.
