This is great, thank you! I have started doing some of these things over the past two years without really thinking about how much it is good for my hormones-no wonder I’ve been doing better mentally. All the little things have added up. I definitely need to stop caffeine right away and go to bed earlier again. A big thing that helped me was finally getting off of my SSRI! It took 2 years but it’s been great. I was on it for 15 years
Another great option for blue light is night mode or warm mode! It lets you turn off blue light on your phone and can be set at certain times (I do sunset and sunrise). All modern phones have some version of this under a different name
I’ve also read it’s important to drink a full glass of water as soon as you wake up. Lately I’ve been adding lemon or lime to mine so I’m more likely to want to drink it. I find that sometimes my heart is racing when I wake up, especially when I’m dehydrated.
I am never hungry in the morning i am more nauseous 🤢 🤮 &get car sick on top of that while on my way to work 🤮 if i force to eat something i get nauseous. I do cardio 5x a week& lost 27pounds in 3 months & im addicted to exercise cardio. I got use to it & wont skip unless i have my period & jump back on once im done. But she's right because i was late for 2wks thats not normal for me. Im late 3-5days i have irregular periods but never 2wks late. Scratch that when i was 2wks late i was pregnant 😅. I thought i was pregnant again but all test were negative at 2wks 🤨 i got my period the day after this explains why. I started cardio for 3 months straight 5x half an hour. Lost of fat on my body & & ate less. She's absolutely right. That explains why i was very late..
Would you be able to do a video about ppd and how to avoid it? I’ve gotten it pretty severely after all 3 of my kids and I’d love to avoid it again if at all possible.
I was doing all that stuff before but since I got pregnant, the only thing I can eat right now in my 1st trimester is oatmeal and bread :((( Everything else causes awful nausea and heartburn unfortunately
Also pregnant but in the second trimester. My nausea and odor sensitivity is gone finally. I hope that symptom passes for you too and you have a healthy pregnancy for you and the baby. ❤
Same here. My pre-pregnancy diet was pretty great, but pregnancy itself has made sticking to it very hard since I was so nauseous in the first trimester. It's been a bit better during the second trimester so I've been able to cook more, but I'm still nauseous and have a lot of food aversions 😢
In the first trimester there is need of more sugar. I don't mean refined sugar. The triple refined black molasses helps tremendously not only with the sugar but with iron and minerals. Try that. Also a 1/4 cup of red beet juice 15 min before meal helps with digestion.
Ask your doctor if you can take nexium (or a knock off)… if you want to!! Normally I rarely struggle with heartburn but it got so bad during pregnancy even taking tums and other usual advice didn’t help. I started taking esomeprazole+magnesium (Nexium) regularly and it got rid of the heartburn. I only needed it for the end of my pregnancy. Good luck and congratulations! 😊
Also you are not hungry if you eat late at night. The digestion slows down when you sleep and when you wake up it is starting again, the stomach is not empty. In that case better skip breakfast and try to recalibrate times of eating.
Most of these advices are very person specific and they may or may not help. This is why nutrition is such a controversial topic. 5 and 6 and 7 are proven to be bad for everyone, but the rest are highly person specific.
#1 is not quite right. Fasting is REALLY good for your hormones during the FIRST HALF of your cycle. Breakfast shouldn’t be skipped in the SECOND HALF of your cycle.
@@mhbecht there are TONS. I would refer you to Dr. Mindy Pelz book “Fast Like a Girl” where she lays out all the research. Fasting is really good for the first half of the cycle because it’s great for estrogen and also helps ease inflammation. IMF has helped me ENORMOUSLY with my autoimmune disease and painful periods.
Dr. Mindy Pelz lays out all the research in her book “Fast Like a Girl.” Fasting is REALLY good for you in the first half of a woman’s cycle. Great for hormones. The second half of the cycle you should go no more than 13 hours of fasting. Intermittent fasting has helped me a LOT with inflammation and hormone balance.
Hi Bridget, thank you for all this information. You are always so knowledgeable and helpful. Because of you I was able to have a natural, no intervention birth that was quick and perfect. I had a question, i find it difficult to get protein in because of all of my food sensitivities. I haven’t been tested but certain foods make me gassy, bloated, and activate my gerd For example eggs, beans, and lentils-make me gassy, too much red meat upsets my stomach so I can only have it once a week if that, dairy is a no good because I am lactose intolerant so it seems everything that’s high in protein and easy to consume I can’t have 😅. I also cannot have the same meals everyday I get sick to my stomach from it literally so I have to switch out what I eat frequently idk. I am on my gut health and hormonal health journey and it’s very stressful.
Hi have you tried tofu? Lots of ways to eat it if its cooked well. Can be pan fried, roasted and air fried. Silken tofu can also be blended for desserts and sauces. Another trick we use is eat a lot of nuts and sprinkle toasted seeds on everything. Finally you could try vegan protein powders and mix into foods. Unflavored ones can be stirred into main meals like soup and others can be stirred into your overnight oats etc. If you tolerate fish and white meat that is another option.

You're such a coffee hater 😉 That's my only vice and I love it, even now in week 20. Half to one small cup a day is my discipline.
I thought she was indulgent.
During pregnancy caffeine to the baby is a no, no.

There’s no way I can eat 30 grams of protein for breakfast
2 eggs, a couple slices of bacon and a Greek yogurt cup would probably be about 30g. It's not difficult, you just have to choose the right foods
