Thanks for the video. That Shelf on the high spec versions is the daftest thing ever. Near bought one but wife could not see out over shoulder when she has the seat forward to reach pedals as the B pillar is too big. Not to mention we tried 4 dealers near us and none of them had an Air spec car to look at or drive. Crazy.

As you seem to be interested in the question, try listening to a recent video by Maximilien Robespierre. I find his audio grates like Parmesan! Very interesting car, Eilis, looks like a Citroen C3 boxy SUV thing, which is super practical. Nice car, good that seats fold flat. Price is a bit eeek. but thanks for thinking about the lower spec options to show us, it really is the way to go. Well done and thanks for a great video.
Nice to see another EV review from you Eilis. You missed the Frunk as I know Kia would have one but do they have acoustic glass do you know? Total madness the heatpump is an option whereas it should be standard equipment across all trim levels mind you in the country I'm in I suspect it may be. Totally unrelated but saw your hand and reminded me of my daughter with her rings, in a good way. 😃
You're right! I mention the frunk in my short video for socials but totally forgot for the long form 😂 a long and busy day of travelling and cramming in filming can result in a moment of forgetfulness. And it sounds like your daughter has great fashion sense 😀

You brit's are so lucky these day's, your cousins in America would love to see this in the USA market, but it doesn't look good as of right now we'll get the Kia EV 3 model one day. I suspect heavy inside politics involving tariff's and who know's what else behind the scenes, make this great KIA NERO alternative for us, a real mystery as of December 18, 2024
You didn't mention DC charging speed, would have been useful to know. If I was in the market for a new EV in 2025 this would certainly be getting a look, as it's coming to the USA as well as Europe. As it happens we just got a used Bolt EV and won't need to replace a vehicle for some years. This might be an option in a few years time when used ones are available.
Grrr I like the aesthetics and the design, more than I like my Lexus! And those colours are great, let's hope that the UK version is not "black with black". If I can suggest a thing to check when you look at a car, what happens to the load cover when you don't need it? Will it fit under the false floor?
It's lovely isn't it? And that's a good point! I'm pretty sure I popped it down in the rear passenger footwell but will make a note of that for the next one.
@@Electroheads Unfortunately my landlord told us there will never be a charge point in our car park ... regardless, because I like hurting myself obviously, I went to the Kia website and tried to spec one. And OUCH! Let's compare with stuff that's included in my mid-range Lexus Lbx, which you wouldn't fit in the back of ... I have full vegan leather, HUD, footwell lighting, LED automatic headlamps, and premium paint (blue) with a contrasting roof. Many of these are options in the KIA 3, and the HUD and Heat Pump are only available in the GT/S, so you're paying for the sunroof and 4 heated seats ... click a couple of necessities and you get to £45,847 (plus delivery and destination I presume).
This brings up the topic of "Luxury Car Tax" (rabbit hole level achieved): from April 2025, anyone buying a new car (electric or otherwise) that is priced over £40,000 will face £165 in tax. As well as this, they'll need to pay a £355 expensive car supplement every year from the second to sixth year of registration. The annual tax drops from year seven to the standard rate (£165). My Lexus was £34k or thereabouts, but being a hybrid meant the road tax goes with the emissions.
Hi Electroheads: What do you think it is going to take for the industry to back the Velo mobile format. Everybody is doing e-bikes. Hundreds of models. But not one successful Velo mobile…..i.e. some type of enclosed bike that you can pick up your kids and do a grocery run in the rain on and use the bike lane still. It seems like a logical step, but maybe the market is still mostly fair weather cyclists or bike snobs???
I'm in India and own a Tata Punch EV. This one seems to look identical in terms of design and body proportions, far better interiors though in this one. If this is launched in India it will most certainly be priced in the premium category much above the Tata, like it's bigger brother EV6 which does sell in India though with abysmal sales figures.
@shafedog247 yes but not a Full Console, like the Tucson, Outlander PHEV and many others. Some ppl like the open front Area, I for one prefer the Full Console
Is it true that the only way you can get a GT Line for under 40k (the luxury car tax limit) is if you go for a hideous orange colour? What are Kia thinking?
The biggest problem with pretty much all these reviews is quoting the range as being something you will be able to get and never pointing out it’d merely number when in reality the real world range will always be significantly less than that claimed by the manufacturer 🤥 Having said that, something around 300 miles is still a good amount of range for an EV!!! 🙌
Currently I have a 2nd generation Niro EV, and real world range throughout spring/summer/autumn has been 264 miles - very close to quoted range. (Not so good now in Winter - about 230 miles). KIA/Hyundai have always managed to get very close to the quoted range in real life (provided driver adjust driving style to electrics), so would expect to get very close to what they quote.
When it rains you can put the car under cover and do a walk-around without getting wet, and let me be the first to say I like your new take on the bum-bag.
No - you had the rain stop, but a minor point. You do great work and the EV3 is a very good EV. Something I missed mentioning was the small screen you find hard to see is available in the visible large screen, so no loss or inconvenience really. You have the added choice of moving your head to using the menu, and I reckon if you had moved it to the left and slightly forward it would have been easier than to the right. PS: This won't post when I reply to your reply (it's greyed out) - what's going on?
@@Negev-Israel "goodbye to range". Huh? The Tesla Modsel 3 has a shorter range, Mr Tesla fanboy. @UnderWarranty I'm saying about this one, as it's going to end up a huge waste of money for whoever buys it. @@stevoc9930they will be wasting the money on a car like this at that price. There are too many businesses taking a chunk out of the costs, so it all gets passed on to the buyer. If that buyer can afford it, that doesn't mean it's value for money or even a good choice. Obviously, they are free to spend their money how they want, but they shouldn't be hoodwinked into buying electric vehicles at this price range just because of a video. Hopefully, they will do their due diligence and find out more about what they wish to purchase and consider a range of alternative offers.
@markdonovan1540 With an EV there are savings to be made though. Most of them are Tax free and the running costs are a fraction of a petrol/diesel. And I don't mean just fuel. ICE cars once they get a few years old start clocking up maintenance and repair costs. I have an EV car and a Diesel van. Ev going on 3 years costs me 5 quid a week to charge and I've yet to pay for a repair. Much less moving parts that can go wrong. My Van is now 5 years old and now averages 1-2k per year just to keep it on the road. Tax, service, Psv, tyres, belts, brake discs, wheel alignment etc since 2022 it's probably cost me 5 grand. It was the same with my previous Diesel car. EVs are more expensive upfront but have cheaper upkeep.
