Thanks for this Derek. Very useful for someone about to take delivery of an EV3! One thing I didn’t see is the seat cooling. Heated seats is nice for winter sure, but living in the South of Spain, far more important to me is seat cooling. How is his done?
Hi Derek. I'm assuming one cannot set colours on any of the menu tiles/icons? It would certainly help to differentiate them for ease of use whilst driving (I guess some have no usable options while the vehicle is in mition)...
Was this a GT-Line or a GT-Line S (not available in Ireland)? I ask this because I see a Premium Sound option in the screen options and you refer to a HUD that is also not available in GT- Line. Can you clarify please?
Great guide through thanks. Just out of curiosity is out possible to export a journey history at all? Can you program via the app for a number of destinations or journeys and have then ready on the cars sat nav to set off? Is there the ability to record any of the cameras data? European or Korean vehicles were to have sentry mode which would have been a great bonus in UK, preferable to the stupid iron ing board and perhaps the sunroof!
The UI seems like a pretty good step up from the older EV6. However I feel like the menus feel a bit “cramped” because of how small the screen is, and the UI isn’t on par with the likes of the Volkswagen ID.4 yet.
I definitely prefer it to gen 1 EV6 for sure. I think a single tile high like the main menu is the way to go for sure. I also think there should be a static icon size and a driving icon size
There seems to be a pull-down menu in top of the infotainment screen. Can you also cover that? I guess shortcuts can be added there. If so, can the ‘mute speed limit warning’ button be added there? 😅
At 0:55 the estimated ESB group, range shows 460m, ? Not km? What is ESB group ? Can you explain why the 397km if you turn off AC is still lower than the 460? Sorry if I’m missing something here.
I don't know, but it looks to me that it means "460m to the closest charging point", as it is next to a GoogleMaps style "pin" with an "plug" kind of icon. Or maybe it's 460m to destination ("ESB Group")?
Thank you munduate. I think you’re correct on the charge location being 460m away. It was because I think I heard him say his estimated range was 460 based on km. so that was confusing to me but now I think that was a slip.
What this was is a magnificent demonstration of how comparatively lowly cars have just got too complicated. What we actually need is to be able to jump in the car and go without having to think too much about anything else. Getting into a car I am interested in speed, revs (if still an ICE), and possibly heating not anything else. If I want infotainment I have both an iPhone and iPad, but mostly I do not. I just want to get in and drive knowing that the way it was set up last time is still working this time. What is especially annoying is that I am having to pay over the top for all this complication I do not want.
@@ringpolitiet Am here because it ought to be possible to design simpler more driver focused EVs with lighter batteries and better handling. Infotainment is simply not very important to produce a good EV, and seems to be responsible for building several bad ones. Just my opinion.
@@PaulMeier-cu3ds Any modern car with all its features that are wanted or needed by the vast majority of consumers the car needs a deep infotainment system. Wanna go back to the dark ages then you can pick an older car. There are already driver focused smaller battery, better handling cars: renault 5 or Alpine a290, peugeot e208, abarth etc. they exist, this is not the car for you :)
@@o0alias0o We agree this is not the car for me. I also agree with your choice of alternatives but might add Mini and Smart. I find my iPhone does enough infotainment for me and definitely do not need need a deep infotainment system.
Probably a better run through than the dealer will give at handover!
Thanks very much
Great video review on the features in the Kai EV3
How does one engage the emergency brake?
I have a GT on order and found this video most interesting and no doubt useful.
Thanks Doug. Co. Louth

I've seen cooling seats too but it's not an Irish spec I think
GT Line S only, not available in Ireland....
How effective is the digital key using UWB?
4:58 whats in the submenu? Is it possible to have different heights?
Yes!

Great question and idea, not that I'm aware.

Hello, great video. Can you close the windows or sunroof via app or is it just showing you if you left it open but cannot control by the app?
Correct, just the status no remote control unfortunately

Yes, on the car infotainment screen or the app

On the media side of things. Isn't there a netflix or youtube app included?
And is the AI assistant operational?
81% limit on the DC charging limit, my brain does not like that one bit. 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Nice but a bit in a hurry.
The UI still looks like something from the 1990's
Do you think so? I think it's clear and easy to navigate on the go

Why are you here if you don't want it? Just move along.
