      This is why we still went ahead with our second BYD Seal Premium. Would be nice to have something different in the $50k category but they either only have LFP in a short range model like the Xpeng, or even worse not at all like this car which otherwise looks fantastic. Getting 500+ km on a LFP battery seems like a rare ask outside of a long range Seal. Side note we did prefer a sedan too and there’s no Xpeng P7 here right now.

    Hi Tom. With the BYD"s you can use 3 finger swipe up down for temperature and three finger left right for fan speed.
    I've heard a few people complain about the pull up for the bottom menu on the BYD's, but that's only because they don't know about the 3 finger swipe feature.
    Hope you don't keep mentioning that as a problem, as BYD's 3 finger swipe is better than the menu on the bottom, which wastes screen real estate and complicates the screen IMHO. Imagine with the menu on the bottom, the time it can take you to figure things out with your eyes of the road? I use the the finger swipe without even looking at the screen while driving. It's better.
    You can use it in both Apple car play and Android auto also.

    • @LudicrousFeed
      @LudicrousFeed  День назад +1

      Thanks I realise you can do the three finger swipe and yes it’s quite handy. Still I want my cake and eat it too … I want the swipe and also the shortcut bar down the bottom

    • @gregb1599
      @gregb1599 День назад +1

      Most BYD are no better, even the Seal while claiming 150kw really averages just 95kw. It's only when you get into the 800v that actual fast charging happens, our EV6 tops out at 230kw while realistically, it's a constant 175kw up till 77% and with most new DC charges being installed are 150kw then a car that averages 150kw up to at least 80% is a must on a long road trip.

  • @johnbentley6925

    All vehicles with the driver monitoring are going to have to be desensitised. It is standard practice that drivers have to be able to look to the main screen for functional reasons … especially when so many buttons have been ‘lost’.

    Quite funny Tom as Bjorn literally did his road test with this car not long ago and just watched his video about it yesterday. Definitely had issues with it but then he has issues with almost every car he does his long distance road trips/tests with. The real test is accuracy of the GoM, is it like BYD with their truly inaccurate GoM based on CLTC, EV route planning and live charger status info(ie: Google), charge curve(not peak but the overall curve) from 10-80% real world. I'd love to know what the rear leg room would be like with a tall driver or passenger as well say 6'4"/193cm plus. Those insects in Sydney though Tom, they must know when you're filming and come out in full force.

    Painfully long review but based on a few stats you did mention, its not an EV suited for long trips, ridiculously slow charging speeds, annoying warnings and being NMC not really suitable as a city run about with poor efficiency. BTW at the start the efficiency figure you mentioned was that consumed during driving only, not the cars totally efficiency figure. And no one pedal driving. Car is set up for Chinese drivers where i believe one pedal driving isnt allowed which means that the car will slow down around bends with cruise enabled.
    I prefer a more thorough review rather than you touchie feeling opinion. Did the frunck have a drain plug? Does it have a glove box? Does the voice commands work.
