Description from Porter Robinson:
Shelter tells the story of Rin, a 17-year-old girl who lives her life inside of a futuristic simulation completely by herself in infinite, beautiful loneliness. Each day, Rin awakens in virtual reality and uses a tablet which controls the simulation to create a new, different, beautiful world for herself. Until one day, everything changes, and Rin comes to learn the true origins behind her life inside a simulation.

In America, Thanksgiving is coming up but I think everyone can get into the spirit of giving thanks this season. Wether it be to your parents, friends, or that one guy who lent you a dollar, a little appreciation can go a long way. With that in mind, I think this is a really good time to cover such a lovely song by Porter Robinson and Madeon. Porter had put out Sad Machine before this featuring Avanna (thought it was Oliver srry lol) which made me suspicious of wether or not he was a weeb like me. Now that he's teamed up with A1 Pictures to make a legit AMV for his new song, it's for sure. And I love it.

@@catt5151 its a true story and history always finds a way to repeat it self. So in light of the thing's that happened, don't get me wrong, it's hard losing a loved one. It's like page's going by in a book of life, we're born then later on in life we die leaving the people we loved and my Rose (that was her nickname) wouldn't want me to give up. So when i'm knocked down, i come back stronger like she'd expect of me.

And this theory is supported in Shelter's lyrics "I'll give them shelter, like You've done for me". The word "Them" itself explain everything. So maybe her father also gave her mission that's not explained visually in Shelter's MV due to emotional focus of the MV's.

Shelter was the inspiration for a novel I’m writing and is directly responsible for a completely renewed energy and goal in life at a time when I was ready to give up. People say this sort of thing all the time, but I legitimately owe this song everything and this beautiful cover only adds to the fire

this is the song that i come to when im pissed for some reason, steam not working, my computer being slow AF , or something else. Your voice along with the lyrics soother me into submission, thank you.
I know this is yet another tale among many, but it's one I'd like to share.
Since the beginning of this year, my grandfather had been suffering from a brain tumor. In January, I downloaded this cover of the song because I just thought it was beautiful. I was on a 11 hour bus ride to my dad and in that time had a lot of room to think about anything and everything that crossed my mind. While this song was playing, I was reminded of how close my grandfather was to death. It terrified me, and though I have severe restraint to crying in public, I cried as we drove into a dark tunnel, it being around 2AM at the time.
About two hours ago, my grandfather, age 84, was pronounced dead. I came back to watch this video for that same reason and it now has a very therapeutic effect.

Rin was launched into space never to see earth again. She became conscious of the situation remembering her childhood. At least what's left of it. She became one with the machine and floated forever through space. she would live her life within the simulation until time and death came for her. But eventually she stopped thinking...

I came here after re-watching Assassination Classroom... This was the worst and best course of action. The feels... Ouch... It's like the verses were from the view of Korosensei as a teacher whilst the pre-chorus, speech and chorus were from the view of a Class E student. Even knowing the true story of Shelter, adding on with the tragic yet meaningful moral of Assassination Classroom, this is already so emotionally sad. Altogether, everything just creates one heck of a emotional rollercoaster with a finish you can't and don't want to process. And as a result, this song remains one of my favourites.
