Listening I've realized Chara is the good guy in every timeline. She/He helps and narrates your journy during the pacifist and neutral. But forces the genocide timelines to be destroyed so they don't have to live in a time where you killed all her/his family and friends. Then they scare you at the end to try scare you off that path again. Then even if you do a pacifist run after she blocks your control over frisk so we can't hurt anyone again.

I love how this whole song goes with the idea that the player/frisk is the one who made Chara evil in the first place. It sort of goes with the theory that Chara didn't want to kill everyone they loved at first, but then after being under the player's influence they became,what the song begins with, what the player wanted. Man, if I had a CinemaSins inspired channel, I would definitely take off so many sins for this song and how good and accurate it is.

This suits my interpretation of genocide Chara perfectly. Not guilty, not innocent. Just a child. A broken, depraved child. A child that watched you, the player, kill everyone they love. They snapped, eventually laughing off thier pain and going insane to the point where they slaughtered their own brother, at the end either continuing the genocidal path or finally giving The Player what they deserve. Yet through all of thier numbness and craziness, they’re still just a sad, angry, scared, broken child. This is amazing and filled with emotion. It’s perfectly creepy and heartbreaking, and your voice is absolutely beautiful.
Some dialogues in undertale also show that Chara was abused so she/he has really been through a lot.
I've always thought chara as she never kills anyone upto to sans I believe frisk killed everyone before hand and shes just wanting to get it over with she realises it's all a game to frisk and knows she wont face consequences for that so she takes the role of the warden making you pay for your actions

When Undertale originally started, I remember very well how a lot of people thought that Chara was one of the 'bad guys', how they were a murderer and was to be blamed for the Genocide run.
...heh, hell of a wake-up call when people started realizing that they were wrong. It's, chilling and humbling about how so many of us deceived ourselves and put a guilty verdict on a (relatively) innocent child, ya know?
But Chara isn't innocent. Yes we are the one who started genocide and killed all monsters, but Chara helped to kill Sans and even destroyed the underground

99999/ 10 is not really that type of song that I say that this song is a legend. But I can say this song is going make a impact on Chara character but it’s good there are some people who really thinks chara is not bad. For my review I will give this song 9.5/10.

This is probably, no joke, one of the most impactful songs I’ve ever had in my life. Unironically, it single-handedly got me back into playing piano just before COVID hit.
I wasn’t in a great place at the time. Playing the piano was probably my last healthy coping mechanism.
I’m sure you’ve seen this a billion times, but your voice is stunning. The quiet accusation that permeates the entire song strikes straight to the center. It’s relentless, yet soft. Innocent, yet haunting. I don’t know how to say this any other way, your voice is beautiful.
All these years later, I doubt you even look at these comments anymore. This one’s just going to get lost in the flood of compliments. But, if you do somehow see this, I just want to say. Thank you for this incredible cover.
It changed my life for the better. Maybe that’s weird to say about a cover of a song that’s about an Undertale character that barely shows up except the original isn’t even for an Undertale character.

Then you remember you can reinstall the game and everything's back to normal because Chara isn't real and won't have OP powers to kill you.
I listened to this for hours while drawing some concept art for a comic series that is planning on doing. I saw this and almost squealed! When I listen and it was so much better then what I had expected! Thank you for not blaming Chara, but not entirely making her the victim, but more of a chaotic good antihero that put justice to the player. Respect goes to every part of you!

This is a song explaining Charas desperate cry for help. They want to break free from Frisks control but since they have to share a soul with them, she can’t break free. They want to be able to feel what it’s like to be alive again. Frisk is obviously trying to play the victim saying that it’s all Charas fault. This is what the fan base believes but I think other wise. The game NEVER confirms that Chara was the bad guy. The fan base thought they were since they wanted to erase the world of monsters, that they are automatically the bad guy. They just wanted to be able to break free from the monster realm because when they died, they became stuck there. They can’t leave until the barrier has been broken. When Chara drips black liquid from their eyes and mouth, that’s the hate they have started to develop while staying in the underground. Watching people forgetting about them, watching them having fun, running around, forgetting about the human child that once walked around the underground. Chara saw all the humans fall, and then get slaughtered by Asgore. And that could also make me believe that the “when will this end?” Line could be referencing Chara watching the humans die. When Frisk fell Chara has developed a lot of hate built inside them. They kept it inside and never let it out. Frisk knew of Charas presence, and awoken them. She asked for them to k i l l t h e m a l l. They didn’t know what to do. They agreed, not because they wanted to kill all the monsters, but because they wanted to feel alive again. As said by them “ gone, lost, stuck, dead.” Chara is Gone, they will never come back. Their lost, they can’t escape Frisk. Their stuck, they have to stay with Frisk at their own will. Dead, Chara is still dead. No matter if they share a soul, their still dead and will never be alive again. Sans try’s to tell Chara to break free from Frisks wrath before being killed. I think that after that Chara slays Sans they stop Frisk from going any further. They starts to explain to Frisk that they are done with this, “why did you think I’ve stopped you here?” Telling Frisk that they’re done with Frisks actions. Chara breaks free, they are still dead though. They don’t mind and wait for Frisk to finish her wrath. They then give them the option to erase the monster world and forgive each other. Frisk chooses not to since Chara left them alone. Chara can’t hold the hate anymore and {I’m guessing} kills Frisk. That’s why when we complete the genocide run, we don’t see Frisk on the surface. They died, either way. If they chose to erase, they would be taken down with the monster world. So either way Frisk was going to die. Charas revenge was clever I must say. Remember Chara was never confirmed to be the bad guy in the story. They are just a kid.
Edit: ok so u guys keep saying that Frisk is just a hollowed our vessel for the player to use and that we’re the bad guys. I UNDERSTAND what you guys are going for, I completely do! But I’m talking about the LORE of Undertale, not the GAMEPLAY! In the game play yes! None of my pieces to a puzzle lines up, but if we are just talking about the lore and a world where the player doesn’t exist then YES! My theory can be 100% correct if u believe it to be! This is a very cool twist on the classic megalo strike back, having it was and mellow instead of fast and dramatic is a nice change, and having Chara influenced by the player instead of them being the villain is a good way of mixing it up. It is fabulous!

The thing is if you beat genocide more than I think twice chara pushes you to do the Pacifist run and if you continue killing everyone each time you complete it Chara again will say "perhaps another route is better suited" then they reset your game for you Chara is honestly wanting you to spare everyone
To spare their mother,father,and most importantly save their brother
But...we keep killing and that thought is honestly depressing
Imagine having to watch your family and friends die and all you can do is recommend another route you can't stop the murder

Also, there is many hints in the game hinting that Chara was abused on the surface and is suicidal, the monsters were all they had left... and then they failed them. So Chara was already about to snap when Frisk fell, meaning that Chara was not only pushed off the edge, they got damaged even more on the way down.

It seems that in this scenario Frisk and Chara have two different kinds of determination: Frisk/the player has the determination to see things through to the end no matter what happens while Chara has the determination to end the suffering.

mean, from a story standpoint there is no actual confirmation that either your actions in a run are (from a story standpoint) frisk's, or if your just a puppet master with frisk under compelte control under you..
...hell even AUs can be conflicting on this...sometimes it's frisk's free will, sometimes (UnderPlayer and the thought most notablt) there is/are a player(s) controling frisk's actions
Chara(in my headcanon) acts like an older sister(they are both girls in my headcanon) to Frisk. She helps Frisk and the player on the pacifist run, and comforts Frisk(not you) on the genocide run. She is pessimistic but kind on neutral.

I love how Chara speaks to Frisk and the player (with this angelic voice), before she is completely corrupted by hate. The short answer from Frisk (red words) and the comment from Sans (blue words) make it perfect.
Chara is not pure evil in the game. Not until the player makes her to that.
