Hey Nate. Saw Nile a few years back, have actually seen em twice. Their full discography is amazing, especially Annihilation of the wicked. After the show, I sent Karl a PM on Facebook, asking if he would be able to sign my CD booklets, if I sent them to him. I was blown away as he responded noting to send them to an address and he would do just that. To my surprise about 4 months later, I received an envelope with a personal note from Karl along with all my CD booklets signed by Karl and all the current band members. Karl even signed my CD booklets from his solo project. And the coolest part as he noted, the envelope had went to Greece so George Kollias could sign them as well as sign his solo project CD booklet. On top of all that, Karl included a bunch of guitar pics. This is something I will treasure forever. Karl is so well versed in Egyptian lore and text, and as you mentioned, he details out in the CD booklets all the intricate details for each song. This is so great as you get a full understanding of the song. Thanks for covering THE technical death metal and like no other.
Thats awesome!!
Amongst the Catacombs of Nephren-Ka was my introduction into Death Metal...I shit my britches and immediately fell in love
‘Leprosy’ for me, in 89’. I went over my buddy Billy’s house, to jam, after school. He goes, “Mikey” wanna hear some DEATH?” I said, “what?” He his Leprosy cassette, into that tape deck & he plays ‘Pull the Plug’ that’s really all it took. He played right along with it too. I don’t think on a DS-1. RAT.
Ps: Master Of Puppets, was the 1st heavy metal album, entered into The 🇺🇸 Library of Congress registry. As culturally/significantly important to our country. That? Transcends the normies. A moral victory. 😆
Holy shit, what a coincidence! I'm listening to a lot of Nile lately. Great band with a unique sound!
Nate, start a Patreon. That's how I like to support my favorite RUclipsrs. It's automatically transferred every month, and I don't have to worry about coming up with an email question. Though, I'd most certainly write one, if I ever felt so inclined.
I love Nile!!!
Man, the whole thing about listening to a band and looking at their shirts to find other bands and then finding out something like Phil being in Down. So on and so forth. That's exactly how I was as a kid. And I thought other people were like me. As I got older to find out most people just say "Oh I didn't know he was in this band?" Or "I can't name any members I just know what songs I like."
Great show. Pearl Jam tried to take on Ticketmaster in '94/'95. I think it ended when they lost in court. Jeff Ament & Stone Gossard testified to Congress about it. They had to reroute their tour as Ticketmaster banned them from certain venues.
Gibson still couldn't get their shit together with Hetfield when he flirted with playing their stuff again in the 2000s with that Iron Cross Les Paul and rusty Explorer. Which boggles the mind, as nobody has done more for the Explorer body shape than Hetfield.
Yes Nile , good one Nate 🤘especially that album love slash to the slavestick
Fant-oh-mas I how I've always said it !
I find something of value on just about every Nile album ever released, but I have to recommend their debut 'Amongst the Catacombs of Nephren-Ka'; a little less technical than their following albums, but all the more brutal and catchy for it.. 🤘🤘
What's the other channel with a similar model? Curious to check it out
Justin Horval aka J-Dawg
New SA album out soon? Can’t wait!
Different material. Side project soon. I only comment because that's what I initially thought as well.
Knowing Nate, though, new Spirit Adrift stuff won't take too long.
Nate, you mentioned in an earlier episode that you stole some Arghoslent riffs, did you put that into Spirit Adrift music, or did you release it somewhere else?
Yea.
A few of the riffs in "Harmony of the Spheres" are very Argho.
2:43 in The track is very similiar to 3:06 for "in coffles they were led".
similar sorta hammer-on lick.
My first death metal purchases thanks to Relapse Records were Suffocation - Human Waste and Nile - In Their Darkened Shrines 🤘
What do you think of Hath, Nate? As a fairly newer death metal band. I think they have the BRE.
Alright Nate gotta make money right now shame on that you get paid like Jdawg and and answer questions. Hopefully you do well .
