  • Maybe your caravan is factory pre-wired for a roof extractor fan - a direct replacement for the opening roof light. See how it works and how I wired ours.

This is excellent, any chance you know what connector kit you used? (For the 2 pin connection to the built in wire)

Hi Matt, Thanks for watching one of my earlier and quite robotic videos 😂 . Thank goodness my presentation skills have improved. Have a look at the video I made after this one titled ‘Update - caravan Omnivent roof fan rewire’. I change the wiring I made to the factory roof fan extension wiring. But I still had to purchase the terminal connection kit. The 2 pin kit is part number VL02 and the wiring is BC17004 Roof Fan Extension 12v Harness. They are both branded as Powerpart and manufactured by BCA Group. The wiring is around £10 and a connector kit around £3.00. Hope this helps. Cheers Rob 👍

Good informative video, however I don't have any pre-fitted trunking (Unicorn Madrid).

Sometimes it may be difficult to tell if there is trunking fitted. Did you look at the ceiling at different angles in different light conditions? You could contact Bailey via their website to ask the question. Thanks for watching. Rob

@@robswiseways5697 Just to clarify and help others, Bailey Unicorn III do not have ceiling lights, all lighting is perimeter LED's. As such there in no roof trunking. Fuse No7 (marked fan) from the PCB does not have a wire in the plug/loom, so there is no pre-wiring.
I ran a wire from that block connector to the roof area where drilled through the composite skylight frame and then used a piece of 8mm copper pipe which I heated up and pushed through the insulation to a point where I could make a hole in the fiberglass roof to insert the wires. This is how the dealer does it, but they usually connect into the 10amp lighting circuit.

I'm surprised there is no trunking running the width of the van at the back of the composite frame and no pre wiring. Glad you have managed to fit and wire the fan to the correct fuse. This is probably how I would have done it. I think the dealers connect to the lighting circuit for the easiest and quickest. Regards Rob

You didn't mention press and hold the fan button for 5 seconds to get a timed 5 minute boost...that's what it says in the specifications. Is it a thing?

Hi David, I had the Omnivent fitted by the dealer when we purchased the caravan new. They wired it to the lighting circuit which I couldn’t understand and was dismayed with. This is one of my early videos and I didn’t like to point this out. It’s a better feeling knowing I’ve wired it correctly. I did another video a year later and rewired it with the dedicated roof fan wiring harness. I don’t understand why Bailey don’t offer Omnivent as an option like some other manufacturers do. Thanks for watching and take care, Rob 👍
