  • Installing a roof vent fan in my van and wiring and powering the van the simple and easy way. Powered by the Jackery Explorer 440 (CLICK SHOW MORE FOR DISCOUNT CODE)... I chose to install the vent fan above my kitchen because it made sense to be able to kick the fan on while i was cooking and i plan on adding pop out back windows to my van in the future so when they are open the full will pull air in through the back windows on warm evenings causing a small breeze over the bed while i sleep. AND it looks good in the middle of the roof giving me good access storage space to anything on the roof if i decide to add a roof rack and solar later on. The Jackery Explorer 440 is a simple and easy way to power your whole #vanlife #vanbuild #fordE250conversionvan

    Nice job! If anyone else is going to install a new fan that's a great way to do it. Just one thing I would recommend is making a catch from a couple trash bags and letting the metal shavings fall into it. Sure helps to keep them from getting all over the place. Don't forget to caulk all the edges and screws after it's in. I'd recommend boat life caulking it's flexible and obviously really water proof. But as you see if you take a little time and think it through you can do a lot of mod's on your own and know exactly how things are put in and wired up. I'm impressed with the install Chrome! You even made sure the location was kick ass!
    Now you can do more van life cooking videos 😂
    Happy travels!
    Beeps.

    Already have aJackery 1000 to power my fridge .... solar 140W on roof to charge Jackery ...I just ordered a Maxairfan to replace the plain 14x14 vent that has fallen apart ...the solar wires I routed through the vent ...so will run the 12V to Jackery & wire it to cig outlet! ...I figured this out myself ...& stoked to see your install validating my decision! Now that you have a roof vent, you just need solar and you'll have all the things you were "suppose" to have before starting van life. 😄 #sarcasm Cause obvs you have been happily living without a roof vent for awhile, and ended up with a free one by waiting over a year. Taking your channel as an inspiration to continue living happily in my (mini)van and take the chances to upgrade as they come.

    • @beepseatsfindingfoodtreasu8756
      @beepseatsfindingfoodtreasu8756 5 лет назад +3

      Hey Amanda! You can still use a fan just make a wooden window mount for it and it will be fine moving air inside. And you don't have to make any changes to the van. You can also make your cabinets fit the sides and just have a set of braces top and bottom to keep them in place. And the upper braces are great for adding LED lights. They are right where you need them over the counter's.
      Hit me up in Discord if you need any help with the design.

    Good job! You made it look easy. It's amazing what can be accomplished with a simple common sense approach. I look forward to seeing how well the vent works so I can consider putting it on my van build list. I'm thinking it might be necessary in Los Angeles but I'm debating cracking windows to get a cross breeze going first, and if it gets too bad heat wise, I can always throw one in real quick. Since I'll basically be using the van just for sleeping and transportation, I'm seriously considering doing exactly what you did, just putting in the basics and going from there as needed.

      It's interesting they are investing sooo much in a Canadian and still not shipping to Canada.

    Try an alpicool 18 quart refrigerator at around $200 on Amazon in the states on the jackery. I wanted those 3 things- max fan, lights, and that refrigerator. Curious to see if it will take all 3.

    Fan looks good! Can’t wait until you have the LED lights and everything done and plugged into that 440 to see how well it holds up. I’m seriously thinking of going this same route. Safe travels & much love to you, Disco, & our Weirdo Fam

    Here on the BC coast the roof vent is great for clearing moisture from the van. You will feel warmer with the moisture being drawn off.

    I live on a sailboat and they make the same thing but it has a little solar panel on it so you don't need to hook up to power.
