When Blanche asked her why she never mentioned this before, her response was, "Well, from my experience, the ones who have it the most talk about it the least." LOL
I agree! But what is even more classic about that scene is after Rose says that line, Dorothy turns to Blanche with a questioning look on her face and Blanche doesn't know what to say. Classic GG moment!
I like the one where Rose invites some guy she had been dating to sleep over and he dies, and then she starts dating someone else and he wants to "go away" with her and she is afraid to, but eventually does. She returns home and Blanche and Dorothy are waiting to hear how it went, she tells them she slept with him and he died, and so the sheriff comes along and she slept with him and he died. Then she tells them it went fine.
Oddly, she later refers, in another clip shown here, to someone as Shylock--a Shakespeare characters sometimes seen as a Jewish stereotype! Adolf's influence? ;-)
It's so weird because when the show was on I predicted that Sophia would die first, then Dorothy, then Blanche. I had a feeling that Rose would outlive all of them. Weird that I was right!
Betty White said in the Golden Girls Reunion show that Rose wasn't dumb, just incredibly naive. I think that's spot on! She was a little airheaded at times but she had such a simple (and weird) upbringing. Plus she was really emotionally intelligent. Love these characters

From me, I think the best Rose Nylund's logic was in the episode where Phill dies. She knew how to make a peace between the wife and the mother in law while telling the bizarre story of her cousin Inmar. Her advise was to love people for who they are no matter how different they are from us. It is OK to be different. That episode itself was very heart touching.
A few people have brought this up and I hadn't thought of this one at first. I agree it is a powerful scene and shows Rose in a different way than normally written on screen. Going to have to drop this one into the future Rose list for sure!

Rose said she had "an infallible trick that worked every time", then proceeded to call the name of the known dog, who immediately came to her, while the other didn't move. The look on Sophia's face was absolutely priceless.
"Sometimes life just isn't fair, kiddo" is a lesson that I learned from Rose in my childhood and carried into adulthood- and I wasn't even as awful and vile and disgusting as a little girl who would steal from an elderly woman. Miss you, Betty.....

Smart times include: Rose outsmarting Dorothy's boyfriend Elliot after he hit on Blanche in "The Triangle"; Rose investigating the Shady Pines Fire Inspector in "Never Yell Fire In A Crowded Nursing Home Part 2"; Rose finding a new nursing home for Sophia's friend in "Sophia's Choice"; When Rose solved the fued between Sophia and Angela by confronting the issue of Phil's transvestitism in "Ebbtide", Rose showing that she was the most decorated Pioneer Scout in St. Olaf history in "Vacation", and possibly many more. Rose, contrary to popular belief, is actually no dummy... Naive yes, and sometimes a simpleton... But deep down, she is pretty smart. (P.S.: Please see my video on "Lake Blanche"... Blanche really does think she's every man's passion, don't she? 😂)

Remember that episode when Dorothy was trying to quit smoking and she was cooking with Rose and she put the saucepan on Rose 's head and hits that with the spoon? Then Blanche came in the kitchen : Blanche: You know, you really have to give Max and Sophia credit. This business was their dream, and they're going after it. I just wish I'd done that with my dream. Dorothy: Fine. Honey, would you check on the pizzas? One may be ready. Blanche: Well, why don't you want to hear about my dream? I think my most favorite Rose moment was when she explained how her mother showed her the birds and the bees. She had grown up on a farm so her mother got a bull turned him around and showed her what the bull has to multiply with a heifer. So she said she was very surprised when she was on her wedding night with her new husband ready to seal the deal. Of course she was talking about sizes her friends were very confused yet she finished off her little story by saying the bull would have been very jealous!
I’ll be watching golden girls until I’m a golden girl. This show feels like family, like home. My heart instantly warms and my shoulders soften. I’ve seen every episode at least 30 times and never grow tired of my girls.

The best of all is when she traps Dorothy’s boyfriend into revealing who he really is after he’s made a pass at Blanche and Dorothy doesn’t believe Blanche’s claims. Don’t forget the “now we’re even!” moment with Don Ameche as Rose’s dad, either.
There was a time when Rose told the story of a St Play festival when everyone dressed up like sandwiches! Rose said that is when her and Charlie forgot to put a piece of CHEESE between them.....9 months later was Kirsten! I laughed so hard! 💕💕💕💕💕

I think my most favorite Rose moment was when she explained how her mother showed her the birds and the bees. She had grown up on a farm so her mother got a bull turned him around and showed her what the bull has to multiply with a heifer. So she said she was very surprised when she was on her wedding night with her new husband ready to seal the deal. Of course she was talking about sizes her friends were very confused yet she finished off her little story by saying the bull would have been very jealous!

There’s also the time Rose tells her sister that she understands who she really is and that she is not the cause of their rift, as well as the time she defends herself against a man she mistakenly thinks is an attacker. The best of all is when she traps Dorothy’s boyfriend into revealing who he really is after he’s made a pass at Blanche and Dorothy doesn’t believe Blanche’s claims. Don’t forget the “now we’re even!” moment with Don Ameche as Rose’s dad, either.
