I made the peach cobbler and loved it. The next batch I did thinly sliced apples with raisins and oh my word it is so goodl. All my guests have loved it. I love your cooking videos, thank you very much.
Hey everyone, my favorite way of making this is to layer the fruit on top of the melted butter first, and *then* carefully layer the batter over the top, then a dusting of sugar. This gives the final product much more of a crisp top. I’ve made this both ways many times and trust me… fruit first then batter is far better! The same critical rule applies either way: never stir the butter at the bottom! Also, I recommend using self-rising flour (White Lilly brand is very good). I also use buttermilk instead of regular milk, which activates the baking powder and provides an excellent texture to the crumb. This is such a forgiving recipe, you can’t go wrong. I personally use a bit more flour for a slightly thicker batter, and less sugar because I like semi-sweet desserts, but it’s all good no matter what, it will turn out well (just don’t stir the butter! (LOL).
I have to use lactose free milk with every thing I make, but have never found it to make a difference. Today is a Thursday and I will be making this Saturday so I have to be getting a few things I need. I am having my adult kids and grandkids over for a summer meal. My dil just got the the ok from her oncologist that she is cancer free after being stage 4 after giving birth 2 years ago to our 2nd grandchild, so since the family loves mom’s cooking. I’m making a big brisket and all the summer salads and two desserts the peach cobbler and a rich chocolate cake to appease my chocoholic husband who has been whining for a month now. His cardiologist had made me promise to watch his sugar intake, but me baby refuses to listen, but I’m making his favorite chocolate/ mayo cake cake to shut his whining ass up! . He’s worse than a woman with pms. I call him pms. Pissy mens disease ! And boy does he have it bad ! He’s had a massive coronary once and he’s pushing one one me soon with his whining! I’ve seen colic babies that didn’t whine as much as him! My son got him a license plate with pms on it , but he will have to put it on his car since my husband will never use it. His sense of humor isn’t what it used to be before his coronary. Forget about him dying, he’s killing us! 😅
I live in Kentucky and we call that cobbler a cup, a cup ,a cup. A cup of sugar, a cup of milk and a cup of flour and then add your fruit. It's delicious and on a week night fast. Love your videos.
I tried it last night for dinner… asked my kid to turn the oven off while I was changing the baby’s diaper… hit the wrong button and burnt it so bad even the Pyrex broke 😭… but I remember your whispering: breakfast 😆 so I tried again this morning… It’s so easy, fast and YUMMY! 🥰 😍… I love your videos!
So good!!! It is exactly the simple and simply delicious and versatile recipe I wanted for making peach snd other fruit cobblers. I can see using the same batter and technique with any number or variety of fruit and/or berries. I used plant milk in mine (it worked out fine!), and added a large dollop (about a quarter cup) of sourdough starter discard to the batter (it was feeding day) and it added just the right touch of yummy sour flavor (almost as if I added a dollop of sour cream). I also dusted the top with a cinnamon/sugar mixture 10 minutes before baking was done, then retuned the pan to the oven to complete the baking. That added a nice, crisp topping. Excellent! Thanks for sharing this classic recipe! ❤
This was awesome, minor note for your consideration: You may consider giving us the entire ingredient and measurements list at the beginning, that'd be the best
Peaches are my favorite. We would pick 5 gallon buckets full of peaches till we got a truck load in season. Then cut and freeze them so we had fresh peach cobbler even in fall and winter. Growing up my family had a coffee shop that served three meals a day 6 days a week and everything was made from scratch.
Looks so good! I have tried a few of your recipes and so far loved every one! The other day I followed your beet canning video. I already opened a jar and the beets are fantastic! I love them with cottage cheese.
We have a similar recipe for fruit cobbler, but it contains an egg and uses sour cream instead of milk and less butter. It also contains nutmeg as well as cinnamon and vanilla extract in the batter. Same, same but different
Mine's in the oven!!! So excited for my family to try this it looks so good and was so easy to put together. I used drained canned peaches for mine. I'll let you know the results when it's done. Thanks so much for sharing such a lovely, simple recipe!!!
I made it yesterday and it was really delicious and simple!! Thank you for this recipe! I actually doubled it and used only 3/4 cup of sugar for the whole thing and it came out just right. I think it would be way too sweet if I added 2 cups.
This is what I grew up calling cobbler. We made this often sometimes with peaches that my grandma canned. This recipe is almost identical, I usually add a little vanilla to mine. We also used to make it with grandma's canned apples.
I make something very similar to this, but I use rhubarb, and of course being rhubarb, I use more sugar, than you would use for peaches. As for using milk or cream, this Iowa boy's Mom made warm milk cake for strawberry short cake, and used milk or half & half on it.
🍑 Peaches = Summer 🍑 Q.: ...Kaleb, do you have a favorite peach tree there? A favorite pear 🍐 tree? ...A favorite apple(s) tree(s)? ...🌳You know, where you just know the fruit will be sweet... I love the idea of lazy/quick cobbler... If you had a few plump blueberries laying around 🔵🔵, you could throw them in, too? We have some peaches here on the counter, just needs time to fully ripen... Cobblers are a wonderful way to start the day as breakfast... why not... fruit preserves are lucious in any form... tyvm
Time to dig out the ice cream maker (with a built in compressor) and make vanilla ice cream to go with this cobbler. Local peaches are just now showing up in central Ohio.
My favorite way with Peach Cobbler is with ice cream, but my second favorite way is like your Grandpa, milk or cream. Midwesterner’s way I think (I’m in southwestern Ohio).
My Dad put milk on his cobbler. Maybe a depression thing? Or just an old person thing...LOL. Ice cream was probably hard to come by back in the "old days". Milk wasn't.

Thank you. I can remember that
I made it today with canned peaches. I didn’t have any milk so I used a can of evaporated milk. Wow, it was so good!

I do this too. Only I use a boxed white or yellow cake mix. Turns out great.
This is the peach cobbler I grew up with. And I’m with your grandpa - eat it in a bowl with milk on top. Yum yum!!
My Mom taught me how to make this type cobbler many years ago she always called it the lazy man's cobbler. Easy and my fav😋

I've made this exact same recipe for years except Blackberry. I need to try it with peaches!! Looks amazing!
Born and raised in New England, and I LOVE milk on cobblers of any kind! That looks delish.
granpap poured milk on his cake too.
I made today with fresh peaches and it’s the most delicious cobbler I had.
Thank you! So many other recipes pour a ton of sugar in - but peaches don't need it. Besides, I like it just a teeny bit tart!

Would you consider, WITH the cinnamon, a slight teenie tiny amount of nutmeg? I don't know...
My mouth watered throughout this! Yummy!

Even lazier clobber is just to us Yellow cake mix… add simple syrup to get the mix moist with fresh peaches…
With canned peaches, you’re good to go!
LOVE your content, glad I found your channel!
Looks so good, I'm wondering if I can sub almond flour for the wheat flour to avoid gluten. I have a gluten sensitive friend.

Good video.
Some of us work off recipe portions. Would you please give amounts of ingredients? Thank you.
It’s in the oven🎉🥳
I'd like multi berry cobbler also.

My favorite way with Peach Cobbler is with ice cream, but my second favorite way is like your Grandpa, milk or cream. Midwesterner’s way I think (I’m in southwestern Ohio).
He seems a little light on his feet but I tried his recipe and it worked out great
Nowhere do I see or hear what temp to bake it. The written recipe doesn't even state. 350° or 375°???
Step 1…. 350°F
😋
Frozen?
Same recipe
My Dad put milk on his cobbler. Maybe a depression thing? Or just an old person thing...LOL. Ice cream was probably hard to come by back in the "old days". Milk wasn't.
👏👏👏👍

Why aren't you giving the measurements of ingredients?
They are all in the description of the video.
