- Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection is a broken mess of a game and nothing more than a cash grab. The game has so many issues and is worth avoiding until the developers actually fix the game, if that's even possible. The Battlefront Classic Collection launched with only 3 servers, completely broken netcode, missing cutscenes, improper settings, and a ton of other issues. I am extremely disappointed and sharing my honest thoughts on Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection to help my viewers avoid the game and not make the mistake of buying what is a total mess of a product.

I'm so over these kinds of releases. When MCC launched a decade ago, it was devastating, and it took almost 8 years to "fix," most of the issues. The current meta of ship broken fix later is exhausting and I'm just tired of it. Tons of people are going to buy this on a platform where refunds are hard, I'm hoping to spread the word to help people avoid that

@@kloppsippingvarsenaltears2789 On steam as long as you have less than 2 hours played you can get a refund pretty much 100% of the time zero questions asked. Sometimes if you have more but it gets iffy past 2hours.

The originals still exist on Steam for cheaper taking up less space with still surprisingly decent texture quality and less bugs and more working mods if you want to remaster the experience and also more servers working.

Don't bother with this if you're on PC. Grab the OG releases before they get pulled and just mod them to get the same result. It's too bad that they couldn't have just pushed the existing pc version to consoles and added cross-play with pc to keep the player numbers high

Already own both the others on steam. They run fine and all but break my computer setup every time, so sadly this is the only way I can play the games.

but the main point of all this was to finally be able to play online!! I was so excited to be able to play Battlefront online i was about to buy the game today but now seeing all of this f*ck that.

I would say it's not even okay for 2024 games. These devs need to learn to optimize ffs. I wish 60 was the industry standard minimum, but if you want to design your game around 30, fine, but at least make it STAY AT 30. NOT DROP. if you can't even keep the game at 30, then you overloaded the graphics too much or f'd up somewhere.

@@zachbernstein3804 It took almost of month for Tomb Raider to get a patch and it still has less features than the Epic Store version had at launch. The classic graphics are still completely unplayable.
battlefront 2 was my favorite game as a kid. I got this collection for only 20 bucks but I still fell so bummed out... oh well, I hope they'll fix it quickly

No they have been up and people playing every day since 2018 this was just stupid the 9 Dollar steam/gog version at least ran smoothly most of the time and is less than 10 gigs instead of cod wz levels of storage required 70 + GB of this classic edition. This is just a rip off and a further proof that they will continue to carbon freeze star wars thaw it out beat the Dickens outta it like a dead horse resuscitate it, carbon freeze it again rinse and repeat until not a single fan is left of the onece beloved franchise. I never pre-order.. however with this game i thought to myself that there is no way they could mess up a game thats already made years ago.
So got it 20% off by pre-ordering it.
My god, i will never make that mistake again. Im asking for a refund now. I only had to play 40min to find out how much of an utter scam this was. That being 30 min of finding a server and 10 min of gameplay.

Got this on PS5, and there is no option in the menus to invert the Y axis. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but for me, I can't play it with the default settings. Really a bummer.

I think the impressive part about this is that you can load up the original release of Battlefront 2 on PC and play it with very minimal issues on modern rigs. Like all they had to do was a tiny bit of tidying up on the server infrastructure and modern optimization - both of which have also comically been done by fans for years now - and that is it. They took a game that already worked and decided to just... Sell it back to us in a broken form? What the fuck?
Like you say "Could have sourced this to community members" in this video as if the games aren't already perfectly playable on modern hardware with online running great. This is a project where they had to try harder to fail than to succeed.
That said I don't know how to feel about people complaining about all of the broken glitches that still exist. BF2 in particular is one of the buggiest and most exploitable competitive games of all time and while I respect wanting those exploits to get patched, the amount of work required and the amount it changes the fun factor is immense. There are also tons of exploits that aren't super game breaking and I'd hate to see go just so online matches can be more fair.
For anyone that has bought this game is the offline for this game fine. I will never play it online so that doesn’t matter to me I want to get it for my switch to just be able to play on the go.

I played single player for over 6 hours, and it's exactly how I remember it. So I suppose the take away of it is it isn't for people who must have online multi player. I, however, will enjoy the single player mode for all the nostalgia it's worth.

I apologize; I don't speak Spanish. But I did read the translated version of what you wrote, and if you're referring to the first Battlefront game, I didn't own that version growing up, so I wouldn't have a reference to tell the difference. But I did see a video with Jaba the Hutt in Jaba's Palace (I haven't played that map yet), which the original BF 2 game didn't have. Although I also saw Assaja Ventrise (probably misspelled) in old game footage, which I never remember seeing unless it was in a special release version, which, again, I didn't most likely didn't own. So yeah some changes were made, but I personally don't find an issue with them... yet.
It's a struggle killing anyone, I played a couple games and there might be 7 v 7 shooting each other and no one can hit each other
Is the multiplayer also Region Locked? Can’t seem to play with friends outside of my country.
You can also still get the classic versions of both games on Steam and GOG, so no need to get the new ones for a lot more money.
I'm having an issue with splitscreen on the Switch version: it just says "Please Insert Controller" for player 2, even when I have two controllers paired to the console. Does anyone know why this is? Do both players need to have a Nintendo Online account even for offlline splitscreen play? It's breaking my heart since the whole reason I bought this game was to introduce my friends to classic Battlefront.
I'm thinking about a refund whether I can fix the splitscreen issue or not though...
I played on Xbox series X, Mar 14 10pm release time. It took me a few hours to find a official lobby under 90ms ping for conquest. And the match only lasted 30 seconds on Dagobah.
I own it and played it on PS5 games fun af. Didn’t have any issues. It is a little glitchy but there are tons of lobbies. Only had some trouble with connection on BF2 but 97% of the time the games worked

one issue that angers me is the fact that you cannot stay in a server. once the game is over it will automatically lose connection and kick you out. so, the odds of playing a full game are 0 and youll most likely have 2 minute games and thats it. youll rack a couple kills then boom. game lost.

As a switch owner, I'm impressed. The game is really fun and I haven't had any problems so far.
I can't speak for PC or other platforms but I've had a good experience so far on PS5. No issues in SP, only one crash when switching from BF1 to BF2. Online was totally broken during the first hour or so, but was working great for me later in the morning. I'm gonna stay optimistic that they get whatever lingering bugs fixed soon, because I love these games and I want to see this succeed so badly.
I’m gonna be honest with you, I bought this more for split screen and galactic conquest where I can play it on console. So I can wait until online gets fixed

Offline console gaming is just fine with just a few bugs. It's the online version, especially PC online, that is a mess. If you are a PC gamer who plays multiplayer, or multiplayer in general, you're pissed today. If you play the offline modes on PS5 like me, you've been playing for 12 hours straight very happy.

My bar was pretty low for PC. Functional on modern PC hardware, and functional multiplayer.
It's pretty much neither. Even from a SP perspective the UI is such a dramatic downgrade from the original that it's almost unusable. The multiplayer straight up doesn't function, the originals with their barely functional post gamespy shutdown servers work better. And the amount of new bugs is intense.
BF2 2005 WITHOUT mods has a better PC UI, and functions better than the re release. And if you include mods it's not even kinda close. It's a scam at $35.
What if id like to play only offline? Is it playable

I really want to buy this but there's so much backlash out there, but I only hear about the multiplayer issue. I've no interest in the multiplayer, I did play these games back in the day on PC a lot but only single player/offline, can someone tell me if the Single Player part in this version is fine?
Where is the option to have inverted controls, cause I can’t find it and can’t play without inverted controls. I shouldn’t have to buy a programmable controller to have inverted controls. This is truly a sad state of our gaming industry.

Well, they should port it to run on Macs natively. On that platform, Angry Birds is basically Call of Duty as there isn't much available natively after the 32-bit game rapture a few years ago.
Really bummed about the online. Even hosting isn't currently feasible. It Did force my friends and I to do it the old fashioned way and go split screen. The split screen experience does seem better as your draw distance doesn't feel reduced like split screen back in 2004. TVs also bigger that helps.

Criticizing this collection is justified and all considering all the problems... *_BUT_* trying to imply that EA's "battlefraud" games are better is *_NOT_* a good backup argument. Those games were even *_WORSE_* at launch than this new collection. Almost everything this collection is guilty of is almost the same things those games were guilty of *_AND MORE..._*
If you’re having trouble with a refund via PS Store… At least on my game I‘ve found a glitch that if you choose to play online and filter the game mode search to any other than random my game crashed every single time. Report the crash and take screenshots.

I pre-order it for Xbox, played the game at midnight on launch and hated it, I already got a refund.
Only positive I can think of is MCC had an awful release and is great these days. Maybe we’ll get lucky and this game will be great at some point. Currently, it’s not worth your time or money.
Original swbf2 vet from 2005 here.
The internet back in 2005 was a very different beast technology wise and bandwidth wise.
Watching stuff at 480p(which was considered HD as fuck back than)was beyond the abilities of my internet speed at the time,so I mostly watched stuff on youtube at 360p or lower.
Downloading a 1,8gb movie was more of a 2 day adventure kind of thing.
And YET despite all that, the online MP gameplay of swbf2 in 2005 was less laggy and more smooth than swbf2 remastered in 2024.
I shit you not, original battlefront was rather laggy by modern competitive gaming standard sure, but before the gamespy servers shut down the game was far less laggy than the current day swbf2(the cheap one you can still get),which is in turn far better than the remastered version.
I almost refuse they can be this incompetent, EA has intentionaly sabotaged the legacy of the old swbf2 games for more than a decade at this point and this is just another way to discredit the original games and make newer audiences think those were much worse games than what they actually were.
I think you are right. There is no way this game plays so poorly online on modern consoles without it being deliberate sabotage. Modern media companies are so venomously spiteful that I'm not a bit surprised.
It really sucks because I have the originals downloaded and I find myself always going back to those.

It’s just sad. I refunded it on PS5 earlier today. Could barely get into a online match with friends, and even when we did get into a match it would lag like crazy, just unplayable.

As soon as I heard it would be 50gb+, I unfortunately knew something like this would happen. I'm glad I stayed in wait & see mode. Still just playing Helldivers 2 instead.
They should of given us a full remastered version with battlefront 2 graphics from the new one and new gameplay mechanics

Did you buy it for the Nintendo Switch? .. For some reason, it won’t let me play as the Villains on the Hero Vs Villains battles… It doesn’t let me choose the Hero or Villain preference option, and just assigns me to play as the Heroes & only Heroes… Are you or anyone else in the comments having this issue?

Remember when Aspyr said they'd add the DLC content to KOTOR 2 on Switch and they never did it? What makes anyone think they'll ever try to fix the BF multiplayer? They've already made their money. Aspyr always lies. Stay away from their products.

Tbh offline isn't that bad and I'm having just as much fun as I did back on the PS2, for me its just the multiplayer that is inexcusable
This is actually so depressing to me, i semi-understood mcc and battlefield 4’s launch TEN years ago launching poorly because of how massive the projects were but IN THE YEAR 2024 A DECADE LATER battlefront 1 and 2 BOTH MADE IN THE EARLY 2000S have this poor of a launch, im so glad i didnt buy this game and stayed with the original cheaper ones. (I honestly urge more people to play the original games in defiance)

What pissed me off the most and got myself a refund for was the price tag. For the same price of that game you can get Helldivers 2 for 5 quid exrta and have more fun in that game than this trash. I loved the game as a kid so I was Super excited for it. But all they did was add multiplayer and monitor support. That's it!

Never got to play online multiplayer with battlefront 1 and 2 back in the day, only was ever able to play split screen. Was really excited to hear about this hame coming out agian. Ngl, i pre ordered out of nostalgia and excitement, didnt think the game would launch this bad.
I dont know what goes into porting a okd game onto new consoles/pc, but i dont think it should've been this bad of a launch.
pay $35 for a game thats regularly less than $10 with barely any changes made to distinguish it from what PC users have already had for nearly two decades. and people ate this shit up! glad it backfired.
