These are the best video's Shane, I look forward to every one of these! I'll be honest, I thought that one was gonna be a challenge....You made it look easy! You are very talented my friend!
I'm on the books to have my 50 year old Bear Kodiak Hunter reworked by you this fall. I can't wait for the call. It'll make a great partner to my 3-piece Great Plains longbow.
Everything you did there could not have been better. I particularly liked the way you opened the crack to get your epoxy completely throughout the check. The bow does look a tad thin at the wrist. So, the overlays will really help it live on. Way to go!
I have the same bow, Herters perfection Sambar and that same spot has ALWAYS felt too narrow to me. It's held up fine all these years, but I'm not at all surprised to see that failure point.
Have you considered using surgical tubing to wrap around a bow for clamping? A lot of luthiers use it to clamp odd shapes. Just a thought. Great video.
@@TKevinBlanc good idea. What works even better than that is strips from tractor inner tubes. Much stronger than surgical tubes and very cheap. I use them constantly on my bows
Bows Fiberglass was White originally like how a bunch of Shakespeare bows mainly Targetmaster model. Old lacquer and ageing have turned fiberglass yellow.
@@greatplainsbow I’ve got a delamination between riser and bamboo under the glass on a one piece longbow. I’m trying to decide what glue I could get in there. It stops right at the end of the fade-out. I can open it by twisting the bow so I think maybe I could get sufficient ea-40 in there??
The drywall screw is not doing too much, the CA glue neither, the overlay nothing. Not a good repair. You needed to wrap that handle with several turns of fiber: glass or carbon. Not before reducing the diameters by 1/8 inch to keep the grip from thickening.

Man, you need to be wearing glasses when drilling and blowing off!
Nice job .Was wondering your thoughts on southwest archery's ghost takedown longbow
Well I'd have to get my hands on one. Never had one in the shop
@@greatplainsbow oh ok if you do would like to see your review on it
@@Steve-zz1xc I'd love to check it out. What are your thoughts on it?
@@greatplainsbow I just ordered one and was wondering if I made a good choice
@@Steve-zz1xc well I just looked them up. Looks like good reviews on them
Just the first drilling was intense
Question do you work on all custom builds of bows
@@matthewmeckes1744 yes I do
Was that ea-40 epoxy you used in the crack or something else?
Total boat. Lower viscosity and higher tensile strength. No flex

How long did this last?
SR Swift risers come apart. Had one came apart twice on the footing.1000 dollar bow no satisfaction.
@@SeanJorgenson-vy8nw well I'm thinking you should buy a black widow bow then. You could probably get your satisfaction
