We talked a few days ago. My son and I are hoping to plan a moose hunt in Alaska. I'm going to need the 68" reflex reflex , 2 piece longbow bamboo and clear glass. Can hardly wait.
Your shop makes me foam at the mouth with excitement! Awesome setup. Have you guys thought about ILF offerings? Form the risers up traditional-style or CNC mill them?
@@jasonrichardwatts yeah I've thought about it, but that's really not my style. I have built ILF risers before freehand. They turned out great, but I haven't jigged up for them. I think I'll keep my bows 💯 hand made for now. The cnc just doesn't seem like a good fit for me
Shane, Have you ever thought of doing a video on a start to finish process of building a custom Great Plains bow? I am sure it would be a long video but it would be very interesting and would show all the steps, hard work and dedication that is required to complete one of your beautiful bows. Just a thought to maybe consider if you ever have the time. I know you are very, very busy.
Thanks for the feedback, support, and watching to the end of your videos. We are curious how much engagement we’ll get with this “full version” before we make it public on Saturday.
@@greatplainsbow I enjoy the fact that y’all are obviously knowledgeable and excel in your art but are not so pretentious that you still can not take yourself seriously and have a good time. I looked over quite a few custom bowyers before ordering from y’all and the RUclips videos were part of the reason
Hello from Northern Minnesota. Really enjoyed this video on the process involved in building a Great Plains Custom Bow. Thank you for sharing! What is the normal wait time on an order for a custom bow?
It kinda depends. It's normally 6-12 months unless you get in on one of our runs. We build in same series runs to keep efficiency up. We are doing longbows right now. If you ordered a longbow now it'd be 2-3 months
@@greatplainsbow Thank you for getting back to me. I was interested in a One-Piece Swift Recurve. Being in the archery business myself for 44 years, I understand how busy things can get and how long delivery times can sometimes take. I know it is much longer for you when you are custom building a product.
@@itascaarcherysupply1071 yeah it's difficult especially with a small amount of employees in the shop. I do have a one piece swift that could be finished in a week
Here’s the link to our video on it: Great Plains Ambidextrous Bow ruclips.net/video/Y-O-7pdIw4A/видео.html Armin Hirmer also did a review on it ruclips.net/video/mSz_GIYgVpU/видео.html
love the tour, it is really quite informative and besids your company the only one being as in depth as you with the company is Shatterproof Archery as other companies making at least one model of bow think doing the RUclips info is a waste of time for the company and rarely promote the company on social media or even use others on RUclips like St Patrick longbows and The Push Longbow movie in 2022 to promote the company and then owner went through all the models a few years ago in 2018 and will every now and then talk about a new model or changes to a model due to materials or manufacturing change.
Thanks for making for an adult male with short draw a Youth Longbow In Hickory at 45 pounds in 2022. I call the bow for adult archers an American Style Shortbow or ASS to people as this bow is in that category of a shortbow in length to an English Shortbow but in American style hence ASS for adults. I am the South Dakota guy who on Archry Talk on the Traditional side when people ask about needing a short draw bow at 24 or 26 inches I tell them about your site or if they want a flat notched grip style longbow to see your company since you make a true universal grip. Most custom companies now they are set to the hand of left and right by just enough that you can't use the wrong side bow on the outside draw or if a person wanted an outside draw bow for some reason like to not have to worry about spine when hunting or some quick draw when hunting.
P.S. I hope you've digitised AND hard copied those bloomin' formulas! Christ, they're the Holy Grail. I can't imagine how many hours of testing went into refining that information.
@@greatplainsbow that's the way. Trusting digital is a gamble these days with all the IT security concerns. If you do ever decide to go digital do it manually where you scan your information directly onto a thumb drive without an internet connection and then store that thumb drive in a safe.

Very interesting! Thanks for sharing!
Sweet place for sure 😊
WOWWEY!
Looks like a great spot to make dreams become reality.
Very cool insight! Thanks!
That's a lot of work and process. I'm glad now that I make primitive bows. Far less tools.
Nice shop and yard man. Keep making more videos
Very Cool to see where and how Your Bamboo comes from. I had heard most Bowyers Use Bamboo Flooring?
I've never seen a production shop like this before. Very cool!
Great video

@@greatplainsbowTotally get you, ILF and CNC is kinda "dirty" in the world of traditional archery.

Interesting! Thanks for doing this video! Do I understand, you only have 2 people working the shop? Or did I miss something?
You understood correctly. Just two of us
Hi, is there a video showing how you process the bamboo from stalks down to workable lumber?
Remarkable 👍🎯🇺🇸❤
