It honestly doesn't matter "which side" you go for, it's a fucken sad time in Australia right now. We are losing two of the greatest cars to ever come out of this country. And we're being left with NONE. No more big rear-wheel drives, no more "SS vs XR8".. we've lost that forever. And it fucking SUCKS. When I was a teenager, it was all about Holdens (still is for me), but I still always held a healthy respect for Falcons (except the AU.. what were they thinking?).. the newest falcons look great. It's a time when we should all stand together and be thankful for all the memories and awesome bogan-ness that these car companies created. It's a part of our culture, and it's almost gone forever. FUCKEN cunts.
A big piece of Australiana gone. Spotting a Walky or even a VL turbo is rarer than a Lambo or a Ferrari today...still seems weird to me.

They should have switched cars, put Ingall in Holden and Skaife in the Ford, the winner being the one with the best combined times
the VF is in another league.
I do not have a preference between the two, but I can say (from my experience driving both cars around a track) that I prefer the powerplant of the S/C 5.0L but the commodore's chassis and suspension feels wayyyy better. Better stock tyres too.

Sprint shits all over a Motorsport ss in day to day performance.
On the track, well maybe install the same Tyres on both cars and we will see. The Perrelli Tyres ford used on the sprint we’re absolutely crap from day one. I changed mine after 5k it was like night and day.

Well, 6 Bathurst's to Rusty's 2, 5 touring car titles to Rusty's sole title. Safe to say Skaifey was a rocket. Well, until Ambrose arrived on the scene anyway, the bastard.

VelvetSun2 Schuey also WORKED to get where he was (not saying skaife didn't work hard), and you don't make it to F1 (let alone the one holding the majority of the records) without being able to drive.
Schuey also put Ferrari back on the top, Skaife had the GTRs and then HRT which were major cars/teams in their categories to start with.
Again, I'm not saying skaife wasn't and isn't a great driver, but in my opinion, he's not a world-class driver.
Just like Ambrose, Brock, Johnson and Lowndes were/are great drivers in ATCC/V8SC's, but on a global scale, they're all pretty much over-hyped.
I guess the point I was trying to make was that it's relatively easy to be a big fish in a small pond, but to build up a struggling team in the pinnacle of ultra-competitive Motorsport and put it up the top takes a special sort of awesome.
I'll admit, I'm not a fan of Skaife, but yes, he can certainly drive extremely well, but I really don't think he was as good as he's cracked up to be.
I sincerely hope you're not just being the Holden equivalent of what you accused me of ;-) .

Better seats, motor is strong and chassis is great...but I’m a traffic light king..so I’ll take the xr8 so I can smash past the ss with a grin on my face..then just slow down for the corner..both cars are not built to race around a track full stop..and ford got not big dollar injection like holden did so I think it’s a great package..you can’t beat the sound ether
Owned a VH,VR,VS..and XE,XF,EA,ED, and an EL , (moved on to a territory now) and i d have to say the holdens always felt tighter on the road and less "floaty",and a bit quicker ( less weight I thinks the reason) even though id say im a ford person ....but that VF is a bloody great Aussie Car

gee and heres me thinking they were designed to be driven on the road. thats where they should be tested, things like how does it respond on the highway? how does it drive as a daily? what sort of mileage can you expect long distance?
Highway? Daily? I thought these were supposed to performance cars, cars that can attack a tight mountain road with poise and balance. It seems the car you want is the Calais V8 and G6E Turbos, the luxury model that just happen to have the big engine. The SSV and XR8 are supposed to the sports model, right?

And yet Wheels Australia chucks a big fat talk about how crap the falcon is. And they were really biased, I personally like Holdens more than Fords, but still, it wasn't a fair fight, to me no one wins coz they are both going out of production. 😭😭

theres a difference between actually being slower and deliberate skewing of the results
xr8 sprint is quicker in quarter mile/straight line but around corners the ss is actually alot better. So on the track ss wins every time
I've owned 2 VE's, driven VF's and currently own an FG. Driven them all at AIR and Mallala over the years. The current shape Holdens are complete doddles to drive on the limit, very forgiving car. FG's feel more direct but the sedan is very skittish. Ute is a little better, surprisingly! So it's not surprising that the FGX is slower against the stopwatch. Love 'em all!
Brendon Burgess do the utes still use the live rear axel? because i've heard they handle very well
The Ford boys cannot take a loss every video I have seen when they say Holden is better they say sponsored by Holden which is not the case they just can’t take the fact that the Holden is a far superior in handling and also interior design the last of the falcons he’d steering wheel button the same as Holden had in 2003
a lot of internet experts in this comment section. Most of you guys are idiots, i own both a XR8 Sprint and SSV Motorsport and can tell you that the Sprint is a shit load faster than the stock LS3 and it's some how 5sec slower than the VF2. Hmm something doesn't seem right here, the SSV redline suspension isn't better than the Sprints (the motorsport is, it uses the HSV suspension). Holden driver was clearly a better driver, would've love to seen his lap time in the Sprint.

Given that both of them stick to just the one car 5 Seconds on a track that short is mental I love both those cars patriotically but the Commodore has the chassis sorted out way more than the good old XR8

nah man most if not all reviews between these cars say holden is better on track but ford can beat it in straight line. either way the gts beats any ford in any race.
if you want pushrods get a HQ 350
falcon isn't the same with an American engine. give it a turbo 6 with some basic mid and tuning and you'll have a much better car. even my xh ute feels better at high speeds compared to a mate's ba ute
only the block is american in the falcon 5 litres hence its different code name
The engine isn't completely American, it was based on the American Coyote engine and was developed by Prodrive in Australia for the FG MKII FPV line up, Prodrive was then bought by Premcar. Premcar eventually made a package for the XR8 Sprint, it gave it 483 kW and some other updates, it featured OEM reliability which is what really separated it from other power packages for the XR series. Also the Commodore has an American powertrain...

All aussie cars are usually simple and well built but they put lots of unnecessary shit on the commodore like electronic park brakes etc. would have been better to keep it simple

Ford can only win against a Holden in a straight cause of its power, it has more of it have to get ford that. HOWEVER 😂 all that said power is not everything and in the real world the roads are not just straight and racing in Australia has a combination of straight and turns. Holden surpasses ford in all area beside one. Ford is faster by 1 second unfortunately 1 second is no way near enough for victory in a real race. Handling plays a very big factor in the real world of racing. Sorry ford you are not good enough and your interior sucks like a 1990's automobile 😂😂😂.

look cheap af budgeted around a Toyota Camry and this is why it became thenfall for Australia car industry
Commodore has better interior than camry. It's also more comfortable.
