    Look where you wanna go and Go... I feel like the instructor said this to you alot.
    I found turning is all in the hips, and after so many years of driving, there was one thing that causes issues, actually a couple of things, the second is having to reverse the rolls between the left hand and foot after many many years of driving literally thousands of other people's manual cars for work, as well as my own.
    But the number one thing is wanting to avoid something, or simply just turn, and the hands want to steer in a certain direction just as they would a steering wheel. and that just makes it impossible to lean the bike and then turn, as the act of trying to turn stops the bike from being able to (and people call this target fixation? they are demented if they can't figure out why people can't turn when they are desperately trying to!
    It takes learning to tilt the bike with the hips (and feet, because I got an ADV) to get it to turn. and this has made me loose 10kg and brought back the abs. not hard though, it's no different to running around a field and push the feet to the outside to change direction.
    Gear shift problem I have now, I'm just too smooth... and that often leads to the 1st to 2nd shift partially engaging and then slipping out of second & into neutral... but only when I change smoothly, If I'm feeding it that doesn't happen!
    Also have an L plate, I decided that sitting in traffic on the way to and from work watching the bikes trickle past and disappear off into the distance wasn't much fun, so brought a scooter/moped. tried it for myself, and started saving. did the practical test, brought a Suzuki V-strom 250SX and a week later did the theory test and got the licence (after a week of riding it to work) That was 6 weeks ago & I've clocked up 2500km so far.
    But I'm sure the 33+km per litre (3L/100km) compared to what it costs to run the car is going to pay for the bike in no time! and the difference in service costs? well I'm a Mechanic anyway, that cost is a non issue!

    Hey bro, looks like your jerky shifting is because you are dropping the clutch too harshly. Let the clutch out a bit smoother at the last 20-30% or so and the jerky shifting should ease up.

    The bite point for the clutch on that bike is way deep it’s why sometimes you don’t shift correctly with the clutch

    • @EMTOHyt
      @EMTOHyt  Месяц назад

      I did find that two finger use of the clutch meant the travel between the clutch and my other 2 fingers resting on the handlebars was actually right before the bite point. Maybe I need to reassess this finding. Thanks!

    • @ChaseFickett
      @ChaseFickett 24 дня назад

      What he means by bite point is basically where your friction zone engages.
      It looks like your friction zone engages ONLY at the last 95-100% of the distance the lever travels when letting it all the way out.
      You should have it adjusted so your shifting can be more smooth.

    • @EMTOHyt
      @EMTOHyt  24 дня назад

      @@ChaseFickett Oh I know, but it’s not there. It’s practically right in the middle of the entire travel of the lever at the 50% area. The first 50% (when pulled in) will not move the bike at all till I hit that 50% and it slowly starts to roll forward. If it was 95%, I’d have 0 chance of 2 finger shifting and still holding the handlebar with my other 2 fingers.
      Conveniently that 50% is enough space to have my fingers be over and under the clutch so I can 2 finger shift.
      I’ll adjust it though and see if it improves. Cause yeah it’s right on the cusp of comfort

  • @Tyresong

    Other bikes I would get... The Tenere is appealing, the V-strom 650? nah I feel the tried and tested V twin is superseded by the P twins so it would probably be the 800. Honda just doesn't do it for me, but I would take a Honda over anything European. but that's not saying much, I hate European vehicle with a passion. why would I spend twice as much on something that is guaranteed to fail, fail often and fail expensively just to have its value diminish into oblivion?
    But If I don't get another ADV next time, it would probably be a GSX-8S
