    I just bought a 2014 37000km Q3 TDI to replace a 2012 Jetta which served me faultlessly for 73000km. The 177PS engine has comparatively more lag but the DSG box helps. Overall, the car is highly competent to the extent of being a bit aloof. The Jetta was a little more engaging. However, the rough roads in India means the Q3 is a better compromise.

    I bought a MY18 2.0l Diesel Quattro about 7 months ago. I'm in OZ and have done a couple of big trips in it. Having switched from a MY09 BMW X3, I can say I much prefer the AUDI. It is incredibly comfortable, perky for what it is and the SLine auto is terrific. Has the panoramic sun roof, reversing camera, parking sensors and parking assist.The boot space is a little limited, but will take two reasonable sized suitcases and the vehicle is very thrifty. The satNav is a bit clunky and no carplay (I can retrofit the carplay to work with the AUDI MMI system for about $450). I put on a Westfalia tow-bar for trips to the dump. This is now the perfect car, great for around town, great on a long trip and quite sure footed on a dirt road (it's not an off-roader by any means, but is fine on dirt tracks). I bought it with 38k kilometres, so hope to have it for a long time. And would I buy another one, yes.

    Another very fair review. The only problem I really have with the Q3 is I think they've been very lazy with the design. They've taken a standard hatchback design and put it on stilts. For me that tends to apply to most of the German SUV designs

      @@HighPeakAutos I like to one leg comment. Also funny because I actually did buy a 2017 Q3 because I needed a 4 door with some cargo space (Mr. Sensible). But it's only because I own a 2014 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe (Automatic - 556hp) and a 2018 370z (6speed manual so I do have two legs..lol) (Neither so sensible)..lol But truly most of all, I owned an Audi back in the late 90's and it was the WORST car I ever owned. Everything fell apart. I swore off on any European car. But in looking at these they get high reliability on every review, which is how I came across yours. Thanks for that!

    Hmmm... just looking in because I spent 13 years driving a 269 HP V6 toyota RAV4 - a wonderfully peppy and powerful bigger vehicle, yet still called a small SUV. Hardly consider myself predictable. Everything about the style of vehicle, from enjoyability to drive to cost to maintain was good. The Q3 is now a pretty good looking car (the new model, not the one you are reviewing) with big shoulders and pretty decent image. Very exciting looking car.

    I’m hurt and deeply offended 😱 I love the SUV market and nice to see you have come around at the end of your video. 😉 (that was tongue in cheek)
    One of our cars is a Mini Countryman Cooper SE. If not driven one. Try it. Pop it in sport mode. Turn off traction control and take it to the nearest “play area” the acceleration is blistering ... more than the claimed 0-60 5.9 seconds (just warm the battery up first to get maximum effect)
    It’s quirky. Not very mini and you can get three adults in the back.
    Another car in our family is awful another 2018 car Toyota CHR yuk. Vom. Can’t wait until the lease is up. Slow. Noisy. Useless range. But comfy and a boot my dog gets hunchback in.
    Love the videos mate. Keep em coming. 🤓

    Another entertaining video, but I don't get why you buy any Q3 (apart from maybe the RS) when you could get the better driving, slightly smaller outside yet much more spacious inside & practical Skoda Yeti. Identical floorpan & mechanicals & particularly in SE-L or Elegance spec, everything as standard, including your heated, folding mirrors. Xenons, auto headlights, auto wipers, dual zone climate, heated leather, & in my eyes it's Tonka toy 4x4 looks are much more appealing than the Mr Blobby look.

      @@HighPeakAutos I'm sure it was Fifth Gear who tested to see if the stop/start thing actually saved fuel. If I recall, it did a little bit. But I'm guessing the starter motor won't last as long though.

    Hi, just wonder if you could help me out on this question really quick. Which engine version on the Q3 is the most reliable? Relating to the diesel ones, I know there are 2 types, the 140 and 177 but not sure which one to go for in terms of reliability.

    • @HighPeakAutos
      @HighPeakAutos  4 года назад +1

      Edy Cioban Traditionally the 140bhp model was always the one to go for reliability-wise

    I got a my Q3 5 years ago and put about 45,000 miles on it -Couple of negatives: no navigation on MMI system, steering problems - had to replace the steering rack which cost me $4500 after 5 months of national back order, several wheel alignments, no remote button start, S-Tronic quattro not a fan of it Positive includes heated leather seats, dual climate control, sun roof, fast acceleration, extremely comfortable seats, audio on SD card, Sirius radio, Bluetooth. - the speakers and sound system could be better .. It is not a bad everyday car ...

    Ha ha your face when the start/stop cut in mine was exactly the same not a fan of that system if I’m honest our a4 allroad is only used as a backup car if or when the Range Rover decides to have a break from doing anything but to be honest it’s been a fantastic reliable car service when it needs it getting the gearbox oil change and filters done soon thanks to you, 10k subscribers your doing something right another brilliant video best wishes ian.

    So I'm picking one up on Friday, and I agree it's a little boring so messing that up a little by taking away the sensible fuel as its the 208BHP model with the park steering assist just for fun whenever I park, though in truth where I park I'm not next to anything. The reason this over something else. My only other car right now is a Morgan +4 which is literally the most impractical car imaginable and my house is over 100 years old and everything needs refurbing as I'm refusing to replace anything with plastic, spent the summer sanding Cast Iron gutters, which are lovely but still sitting next to house, so every night kept awake by rain smacking against the widow sills. So I need something sensible, Waitrose yes (no surprise there), Starbucks, never (well in saying that I worked in India for 3 months and having a SB coffee and a bland sandwich felt like Heaven). This weird car combo runs in the family as my 79year old Dad has a BMW Z4 3.0si and a 900cc R Reg Micra in flat green with no power steering. But the sense of achievement he gets making it up a steep hill surpasses that of the Mercedes experience day we got him as a present. First review of your I've seen, but I'll be back and yes I long for the RR Evoke or perhaps a 4 seater Morgan.
