    Fabulous review as always Matt... I actually love the interior of this car. I honestly find that an older/dated for want of words look to the interior adds to the character and creates a kind of warm, fuzzy feeling. And a bit like sitting in your favourite armchair in front of a coal fire on a cold, snowy, icy winters evening, all snuggled up with a cup of bournVita with the added benefits of sitting in front of a 65 inch monitor, playing need for speed on my PS5.... I've honestly never looked at this vehicle as an option until this review Matt.

      Audi has a long reputation for designing and making top interiors, in recent years BMW catched up after being in hibernation for almost 20 years. This car´s interior of course looks a bit updated and not only the infosystem is the same as in our Audi A6 (3.0 TDI Quattro Avant) from 2005. Had air suspension and what not (you even had to open glove department with a button). The problem of course is with modern cars is that there is so much electronics that many things can go wrong.

    Used to have a 13 plate Q7 which we bought when it was 5 years old. The interior was very dated. I think because it was launched around 2006, a lot of the interior was of that era. Stuff from that period really didn't age well purely because technology advanced so quickly around that time.

      @timhancock6626 Год назад +1

    I think you are being a bit harsh on the interior, especially given its age.
    When it is spec'd correctly with carbon inlays and the additional tech packs, the interior is still a pretty special place, especially with diamond stitched nappa leather seats. For a car that is nearly 15+ years old in terms of design, the interior and the interior quality holds up incredibly well especially when compared to BMW or Mercedes of the same era.

    Enjoyed watching this. Mine is a 2015 and spec wise looks exactly like this. Glacier White, 21s, Pan roof but no carbon or B&O. Coming up to 52,000km ownership in 14 months.

    It would be interesting to compare it against the newer shape one. Similar to the 4L Q7 vs (my) 4M Q7 - very different cars I think. How many "luxury end" 2014 cars in a similar price bracket have what you would term "up to date" interior (better MMI etc)? I reckon unless its a new in 2014 model, you will always end up with tech thats 2014, but from xx years before.

    I was tempted to get an SQ5 last month, but saw the interior and it put me off. I suppose i was used to having a more modern interior coming from a C220D estate so i ended up with a F Pace R-Sport instead

    Suspension is a bit too harsh for a family car. And if you have a wife and kids you won't be able to use much of the power. It's also front wheel biased so pretty boring dynamics wise.

    Great vid - agree on the infotainment screen - too small and low res with old software. Can always fit an RS NAV though - that will bring it bang up to date with further upgrades possible (surround view etc)

    Had a Q7 with the 3.0 tdi engine, absolute nightmare mechanically, injector issues, dpf issues etc. $8k in repairs and the engine light still wouldn't disappear. fuel use was great though ~8.5L/100km around town and the power was nice.
    Brilliant fitout though, interior, moonroof, electric tailgate, etc were great.
    Never buying an Audi again because of it though.

So far the mileage is spot on 7.5-8L/100km on mountain roads around where I live. I bet I could get down to the mid to high 6's in some flat country.

    If I had to have an SUV I think this would be on my shortlist - still looks quite fresh and sounds like a lot of fun to drive. The lack of a push button start and rear camera is just not good enough for what must be a top spec car - Audi's stingyness is annoying! Good review as usual and enjoy your amusing observations on life etc😃
