I live in Adelaide and there is way more Kangaroo Island is known for than Kangaroos. Most passengers are Australian anyway and kangaroos are not such a big deal to us.
We were grounded on a coral reef coming back to the ship in Moorea. They sent a snorkel boat to come and get us. We had to climb from the tender into the snorkel boat. Then we went back to the dock where getting off the snorkel boat was a trip. They aren’t made to unload passengers on this particular dock. We were then loaded onto another tender. It was an experience to say the least. Wish I could post a photo. Putting on a life boat in the tender was a trip too.
We saw something close to this in Hawaii, while waiting for tenders to return to the ship. Could tell there was engine problems, as the motors sputtered and smoked, then went Full Throttle and ran up on the beach, with people on the beach scrambling for safety.
Norfolk island is a destination that is difficult to get to, the only way to get to shore is by tender. And if the tender is going to experience rough seas, then it's a no go.
What an adventure for them! We were on a Royal Caribbean and the wake was so strong where the tender rocked sideways and everyone was soaked. At least free laundry?
i hope if some demanded a partial refund and got one that the line would as a matter of policy give it to all affected since i really don't think the "squeaky wheel" system makes for a better society...
I was going to the Cayman Islands on Carnival and we had to tender in,well we didn’t the captain said they couldn’t tender in because the waves were too big and they wasn’t so we missed the port
Hi Don Again you make a mountain out of a mole hill. One suspect the passengers on the cruise boat mainly Australia. As such so would those on the tender. Walking ashore from a boat is quite common in Australia. They carry it all ashore and will even have a Barbeque. They were not waves to us. It is very small surf and if wind blowing at Kangaroo island there would be no tenders anyway. Finally you also indicated there was monie link OBC or FCC. We are not Americans who want credits provided. Yes some people may have got angst but most still did the tour. Again please check the facts before getting to make a story of it. It has not even been mentioned on any of major news or in Facebook generally. Cheers from Australia
this is not nearly as safe as people put it up to be... given the scale of the waves etc., this could have ended very badly (I mean as a multi-casualty event... an engine out that close to shore is a major emergency... I am (or was) a sailor and have had experience with launches & tenders, if they had struck a little differently, or the waves were a tiny bit worse, that tender would have capsized before they could say snuffelcakes! they are a beast when out of control.... compensation is something that should happen here, but probably more importantly, they MUST make a safety review... they got away from the worst kind of incident, and need not waste this opportunity to make sure nothing like this EVER happens again!
Not sure I'd want to jump in to the sea with my camera equipment, which is not waterproof, as well as being heavy. Would the cruise line insurance pay to replace it if it was damaged? Also, are they providing free laundry for those who ended up with wet clothes?
Wow. Yes! An experience. Glad there was no one hurt or too upset.
I`m glad this happened now, and not during an emergency operation when this tender would have been needed for rescue.
Wow these people will have tales to tell! Thank goodness everyone is OK

wow, Thanks Don
Glad everyone was okay and if I was going to Australia I too would wouldn’t been mad because it’s a trip of life time
They all have a great story to tell now.
I still wouldn't want to have to jump into the water to get ashore from the tender.
What an interesting tale some people will have to capture people attention in the future.

You never know what's going to happen on a cruise. You have to grin & bear it!!
When are you coming back to Australia Don, so much to see and do!
Sounds like an adventure Don!😂
They are judging by their booked excursions... Many book outside the cruise ships to save 💰💰💰💰💰
Oh Don, you know you would do the excursion too....I would!
Gratefully everyone was safe and got to shore. And made there excursion. Hopefully princess gets that tender fixed and back in business soon.
You travel for the experiences
I'd pay extra for an experience like that.
Wow, what an experience.
Hope to see Kangaroo Island someday.
Gotta love cruise companies: they don't guarantee a thing except the fact that they're gonna take your money ...
Thanks Don
Keep up the good work!
My My- A little bit of an adventure that day

Not an experience that I every hope to have.

Waist high would probably be chest high for me!

Glad everyone was okay. I imagine there were more than a few pairs of ruined shoes, though. 🙃

The tender incidents are taking the cutbacks in service a little too far. Inadequate maintenance and oversight contribute to their record profits.
lucky this was not a real emergency
Well, at least they didn't have to swim to shore.
It's Australia, everything is out to get you, and if its not animal or vegetable then something mechanical will have a go 😅
Well, it is called Kangaroo Island.
Good job, Princess. smh
Not a fan of Princess and I've been on 93 cruises on 7 different lines so I have a lot of cruising experience.
Don, have you been to Kangaroo Island?
I hope you didn’t jinx yourself by saying that😀
Hi Don
Another day another cruise calamity. Why not just stay at a Hilton in Miami and forget the stupidity?
