    It's a shame this was never released. They were a tight band, even though they had bubblegum overtones. Great slow jam on the last song.

    Hi Garrett. This showed up on the island in Scotland. It's great. Thanks. I'll be listening to it a good few times! Saw Marmalade live 1975 when they popped up (unannounced) at the university union. Curtains back, lights up and Sandy Newman carried it off brilliantly.

    Maybe I had to get older to realise how good this band was. Even so, it is just an unofficial reminder that this band had more to offer than some light weighed chart stompers.

    Strange to have all women screen Goddesses of the 40s in the video some 30 odd years before this group were even formed ! Not complaining mind 😊

    Reflections of My Life is a masterpiece that has stood the test of time. Unfortunately, they never came close to writing another song anywhere near that one. One hit wonders despite being brilliant musicians.

      I'm not so sure. Reflections is great but has the same chord progression throughout. I personally think Hugh's brief era has songs just as good, like Middle of a Night.

      actually we had 11 top ten hits....just saying..do your homework

      @@neptunedownunder I did. I was referring to U.S. charts even though I'm Canadian. Reflections reached #10 on the U.S. charts in '69 which is an incredible achievement. It really is a moving song that should have charted top 5 in my opinion. Three other Marmalade songs subsequently charted in the U.S., one of them hitting #49. I don't mean to be offensive in saying that those three songs would not have charted if Reflections had not caught everyone's attention.

    The bad publicity about under age groupies destroyed their careers.

    great band! underrated though.

      I think they are underrated because of the bubblegum covers they had to release as singles, especially their #1 Obla Di Obla Da. However if you flipped that single there was a great original B-side called Chains, and many other cover singles had a better B-side original IMO (Wait a Minute, No Use in Hanging on.)

    What is the title of this album and did it ever get an official release?

    • @finslaw
      @finslaw  3 года назад

      I'm not sure how seriously the band pursued using these songs on an album, although it seems unlikely Hugh would have allowed it to include Junior's old songs. The 1972 songs are all listed as demos but they sound ready for prime time to me. Otherwise, what sounds like a good title?

      The very first sentence under the image tells you that this is "A fan-sequence of what a Marmalade album could have looked like in 1972 if they hadn't broke up."
      The first comment is "It's a shame this was never released."
