Thank you very much for this amazing video. Been a Syd Barrett fan for 20 years now and just recently visited Cambridge and some of the places associated with Syd. I'd really love to go back in the future. Such an amazing place! ❤

Thank you for taking the trouble of producing this video. It is of great historical interest. Please leave it on RUclips for future musical historians to discover.

Amazing stuff my ex friend sorta mock me for still liking Syd Barett around 2019 I been a fan since 1990 college days when I found his solo vinyl albums in the college library I'll nevet forget how I connected with Syd's music immediately and found out The Wall movie was about or inspired by Syd and I still prefer the original Pink.Floyd despite of overwhelming support out there for post David Gilmour Pink Floyd for me there's only one Pink Floyd and that's Syd Barrett with Roger Waters only one !

Sadly, people will always mock someone else's taste in music. But when you have a true genius like Syd Barrett and the early Floyd, you know you have great taste. The music sounds as good today as it did back in the 60s.

Syd was friends with Gilmore years before joining pink floyd. Syd and Gilmore used to jam together trading off on guitar and harmonica. In 64 65 Syd and Gilmore got busted together while busking in France. I don't know what busking is? It was on a timeline through years during pink floyd.

Trust me, they have no reason. Music has no bias/prejudice. People do.

Why would a 'friend' mock you for liking something?... They sound horrible.

I am slightly surprised and saddened that I was not mentioned in the part regarding Syd at school, learning art and guitar at home and attending Homerton College life drawing classes. I was an integral part of that and attended with Syd. Syd and I both went on to the Art College, and it was there during our frequent 'jams' that we met David Gilmour.
I was also in The Ramblers with Clive Welham and at the centre of their meeting. Clive and I went on to form Jokers Wild when the Davids were headhunting local talent.

      John,
I am sorry you feel you were left out.
I was only 12 in 1962 when The Ramblers were around.
When I was researching, I checked with everyone I could find. Sadly, the lovely Clive Welham was already in the early stages of Dementia. He was my first choice for the guide on these videos but his recollection had disappeared.
Had I been about four or five years older I would have been part of ‘the scene’.
My first experience of local bands was around 1965 when, at the age of fifteen, I asked the customers of the pub my parents ran in Histon if they would take me to The Racehorse to watch the bands. My favourites were Somethin’ Else and The Go Fyfe.
I spent over six months researching the material for the videos. As well as having lived in Cambridge since 1962.
I checked with every single person I could find who knew Syd and Roger Waters and David Gilmour.
With regards to the schools and colleges you and the others attended, most of the teachers had left. The only person I could find was David Jones who at the time, was still at The Perse.
I tried to speak with Geoff Mott via RUclips but as soon as I asked any questions about his early life, he blocked me. Sadly, he passed away a few years back. It was a shame he refused to open up. I admired him a lot. The Boston Crabs records are awesome.
I think I brought a lot of fresh information to light.
For example, I discovered the real location for Geoff Mott & The Mottoes' only public performance. Not the Jesus Lane venue always listed before.
As I say, I was too young to be part of ‘the gang’ and I didn’t attend Homerton College, so I couldn’t possibly have known about your relationship with Syd.
It’s been 60 years and the various people I spoke with have different recollections of the line-up of The Ramblers. As you were a member you have better knowledge.
Thank you for getting in touch.
If you have any further information I would love to meet up if you still live in Cambridge.

When was this made? It looks from the 90’s. Not saying it is from the 90’s but I’m amazed at things made while syd was still alive. And even though he was alive , they still talk about him as if he wasn’t. Weird.

The video was made in 2008, two years after the passing of Syd. Originally it would have included the wonderful Clive Welham, drummer with Jokers Wild and Geoff Mott and the Mottoes but sadly, when I asked him he was in the early stages of dementia.

Why, Do you know her? It's part of a larger photo with six of us. Taken by the local newspaper in the Summer of 1967 after we were seen giving out flowers in the centre of town. The photos were never published but years later I bribed a photographer from the publication to find them when they were doing an article about my record label.
