Hi the idea to use silicone bonding compound on the sump is a way to make the bottom of the block stiffer ,i guess becouse of the torque flexing the bearing tunnel, this is a trick we used when building toyring car engines which were not allowed a main bearing ladder plate ..
Yes good choice to use the genuine sealant compound as No dought it's far better bonding ability than nice quality silicone from automotive suppliers We used a lock tight brand I can't remember the part number although it was grey and had the bonding strength of tiger seal body panel adhesive!! Nice work Dobro Dobro 👍
You do a fantastic job, you do it in a professional manner. How about I buy you a plane ticket to Norway and you can pick up my car from here. I can so come and pick it up when it's finished :D
Great stuff, that baby looks brand new now! 🤗 Mine is at 210k (2015 model) and still sounds great, but I will probably have my BMW service shop do exactly what you did here at 250k just to be sure. My service intervals are at ~10k kilometers, so far so good! 👌
Hello, great video and great chanel overall. I have a question not related to this video but i would appreciate if you can answer. What transmision oil to use on bmw 320d n47 2011 year rear wheel drive and what about diff oil Thank alot.
Hello,if you block the crankshaft with the crankshafttool, will it also place the engine at tdc ? So if you put the flywheel pin in the flywheel or the crankshaft blokking tool ,both will place the engine at tdc ?
My n57 in f30 bmw i sell it with 260.000km and first chain first turbo everything tip top without oil leaks or something best engine! Of course every 8000-9000km new oil and all filters (castrol)
Hi, I don't want to believe what you write. in the n57 engine, the crankshaft is of very poor quality, it bends and micro cracks appear. I repaired several of these engines. Recently I repaired a F06 twin turbo 640d 2016. Oil interval every 10,000 kilometers. Castrol oil and peels the bearings, no matter what oil you pour. these engines run out after 240k kilometers.
Hi! Can you tell me what is the oil pressure specification at 90c on idle for the n57 engine please? Like with all the bearings on the crankshaft new and new oil pump. Thanks!
Great job guys. Looks like N57N engine in PFL model (because of the intake manifold and air filter housing design). Can you tell us how much was a total cost of this project (parts & work)? Tnx
God job! You have a great amount of experience with bmw n47/n57 engines What is your opinion on the valve cover leak that develops at the rear of the valve cover above the timing chain tensioner. I ve tried original and aftermarket gasket, 7 cars out of 10 will develop oil leak after 1-2 months…do you think the bolts are getting stretched in the valve cover? Thanks in advance
Hello. You reccomend to change the bearings and oil pomp preventive? The engine have 310.000km, and running perfect. What you say? N57, 245 hp, manual gearbox. Thank you!
One question, if you change bearings and all of this but not service the piston rings and valves with new seals (because of the carbon buildup and slime on the intake side) would the costumer not come back in 1 year with oil consumption/burning problems? I am not saying you are doing anything wrong, just think that because you are there and this is a high maintenance job it might be worth changing everything. Of course it will be expensive, bmw is expensive and I see how the compression is lower as time goes by.
If it burns a lot of oil then ok, but if its burning almost none, I highly doubt that will start burn rapidly more for 1 year. Especially when we are maintaining the car at 10k with quality oil.
it tells you how much space there is between bearing and crank. So you know that oil can flow through there, but it also tells you if there is to much play, the smaller the red part the bigger gap there is.
If the timing chains were stretched surely that causes extra wear on the sprockets. However, the sprocket is part of the crankshaft and cant be changed so it should really require a new crankshaft too. What an absolutely stupid engine design!!!
Its will be helpful if u can share in futur a video procedure of cleaning ports ( intake and injectors)

Amazing job, mate. What is the cost of such job parts+labor nowadays?
Good job. Right place to come for adding lifetime to the car
Great job , again guys! Thanks for sharing. Dutch regards, Nico.
Amazing video. Thank you very much!!!

Sounds like the perfect kidnap scenario :D

about sump gasket, sump is different height, and if u install gasket in non gasket sump, 3 small gearbox bolts will not fit.
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing

I've seen the same type of failure on the thermostat of the oil cooler on an N57D30A
hi, thanks for posted video, who is the manufacturer for the OE big-end bearing? Glyco or KOLBENSCHMIDT?

as always, thank you
I have a x5 n57 engine what grade oil would you suggest I use original bmw 0w-30 I see in comments you suggested 5w-40
24:07 Why this chain is loose like that. When I remove mine from N47 it was stiff like Hell. Not movement at all.
its the oil pump one and its always slack.
Hello, I would like to ask where to get BMW manuals. Thank you
What do you think about a stage 1 remap on this engine ?
Great Job 🫡
How much cost this repair ?
Great job guys. Looks like N57N engine in PFL model (because of the intake manifold and air filter housing design). Can you tell us how much was a total cost of this project (parts & work)? Tnx
around €3000 - €5000 dependant on the quality of parts and labour costs.
Good video. 👍🏻
Could u tell us which oil engine did u use on this engine please ?
5W40
@@crank3646 thanks, so I think 5w40 is better than 5w30 for n57.
By the way very great work keep going
God job! You have a great amount of experience with bmw n47/n57 engines

Valve cover warpes due to plastic structure, replace full valve cover and torque to the correct procedure

Still running ok?
Hi guys. Would an oil pressure reading tell the condition of the bearings if they are worn like in the video? Would the pressure slightly drop?
Most likely not
В какво състояние беше веригата на тези километри?
How do you remove the plastigauge?
With brake cleaner
Bravo.! Kakva e cenata na vsichko? Az imam f11 touring. I v koi grad vi e serviza.?
How much did this job cost the customer?? In which country are you located 🙏🏻

Can someone can explain why that red thing are placed on crankshaft ? What does it tell ? What should be done after measurements ?
it tells you how much space there is between bearing and crank. So you know that oil can flow through there, but it also tells you if there is to much play, the smaller the red part the bigger gap there is.
this crankshaft bearing will last for another 200k, pre lci bmw from 2011 or 2012 with 260k :) sure
when you check bearing clearance its around 0.038 to 0.025 to me that seems a bit tight how come you dont have clearance of around 0.050?
The spec starts from 0.019, so if we can believe on the BMW manual we should be fine.
My 0.050 normal?
You sound like the guy from TikTok, with "Today I'm goanna show you how to do..." tutorials with vodka involved of course :))
We never watch tik tok.
