Hank slapping Janet was actually an artist's error. Per script, Hank was supposed to accidentally hit Janet, but the artist draw him hitting her deliberately.

What about Reverse flash dragging goku black on the earth a million times over? He burned his face off, and Goku black could still be heard choking. He was alive through all that pain. That's another brutal death

Death battles are simulated fights so they remove all pacifist or no aggressive tendencies.
I really love how the research for this episode was reflected in the fight itself. When Hank noticed the pym particles had no effect on Ray he sized up the car as a distraction so he could sneak himself and his ants onto his belt. Really clever detail.
10000% this was my favorite detail as well. Loved the creativity.

If you pause the video at the right time you can see how fitting the moai Face is on Eternity
Imagine fighting a guy who can grow bigger than the universe.
But since he's not intangible as this is happening, simply cause his body to push against everything in the universe, thus knocking it out of place and pushing all celestial bodies to the edge of the universe or out of it entirely (based on where it was in relation to him as he grew) thus causing a universal level calamity?
Also why wouldn't he be burned by the many stars, or sucked into the various black holes.

That happened in Creepshow film back in the 80s. An elderly clean freak gets eaten alive by cockroaches which may or may not have all been in his head.
I think my favorite thing about this fight is that it really felt like two scientists going at each other compared to past fights. Both were trying hard to make big-brained plays.

Agreed. Their arsenals and abilities were evenly matched, so the fight was more about their strategy and intellect instead of the typical stat trinity (strength, speed, durability). It didn't just feel like a fight between scientists (bc that was also Lex vs Doom), but especially a fight between two absolute masters of their study. Ant-Man's slightly larger arsenal and barely greater genius are fitting reasons for his well-earned victory.

To be fair, it's already a known fact that Ultron's personality was actually made from a copy of Hank's own brainwaves. Given that Ultron is a genocidal warlord who gleefully commits mass murder, this obviously says a lot about Hank's own darker subconscious. It didn't really surprise me that Hank without morals is fully capable of causing a grisly death like this.

I love how these new fights have not only improved animation wise but also dialogue and story wise. Atom and Ant man really sounded like 2 scientists trying to one up the other while conversing during their fight.
That why death battle is epic. Not just the fight but the personality it accurate.

Homelander's death was visually more gruesome, but damn did Atom go out badly. It was an imaginative and unusually cruel way to go. In that sense, it was definitely the more brutal way to die even if it wasn't as gory.
It's amazing AND scary what a lot of these characters can do if their natural mercy was suppressed for the purposes of a death battle. Even some of the villains hold themselves back in the name of vanity or some sort of code under normal circumstances.

I think most if not all of these are obvious easy stomps. All the Spider-Man villains have a huge edge. The only DC winner here would be Beast Boy. I don't know enough about Girder to comment on a fight between him and Colossus

It's funny how easily the fight started. I felt like Atom was saying "this is pretty impressive tech, I like it" while Ant-man said "oh yeah btw I'm also the best and hate you for not booking an appointment." Bet the next fight's gonna start with one guy giving the other an expired coupon...

@@waltermcgarvin8001 Ultron force fused with Hank, making Hank suffer a death of personality. Right now, Ultron is a cyborg with all his normal powers, plus Hank's Pym Particle abilities.
And he seems to have gone even more insane now, if that was at all possible.

I love how the kills are emblematic of the winner’s character. Considering how rough Hank’s had everything, a pleasant kill was out of the question 💀
It's also a callback to the fact that Ultron's A.I was actually modeled and copied after Hank's own brainwaves. Meaning that at least some part of Hank's inner self is a core part of Ultron's personality. Considering that Ultron is a genocidal warlord with a sadistic hatred for all living beings, this obviously says something about Hank's darker self (which the comics even mention). So yeah, death by growing ants is something Hank could do if morals were off, because Hank without morals is disturbingly similar to Ultron, who is 100% in favor about painful killing.

You know what I’ve changed my mind I do think ant man’s death is more brutal know that I have thought about it
Yeah, not to mention the ants were also growing in Atom, moving around or even cutting/bursting through internal organs all while he was conscience. Not to mention the possible mindbreak he was going under due to being in the Overspace.
Then there was what happened to Homelander: jaw forcefully ripped open; a hand that broke through his sternum, possibly piercing his lungs and many other organs; getting his heart ripped out, again possibly breaking even more as it gets pulled out; and then, not just getting the heart shoved into his broken jaw while he was conscience, gets his head relatively slowly crushed to a pulp as omniman forces the guy to "eat his own heart"
Both really brutal and really really fun to watch
If you think about it, in the beginning of Atom’s career, Ray Palmer feared that he could risk exploding. How fitting that Ray Palmer, a man with no issues, died to what he feared from HIS beginning.

When two combatants have very similar powers, it's usually down to creativity, experience and raw intellect. Had it been one of the other ant men against Ray Palmer, I'd have bet on Atom, and if it had been any of the other Atoms against Hank Pym, I'd probably have bet on him. This one is going to be hard to call. Just the way I like it.
The Atom has never driven a DCU event. He is way too sensible to ever create an Ultron, hence will never reach the insane levels that Ant-Man has.

For myself, this was surprisingly-entertaining!
A suggestion that I hope is considered going forward: slow down the speed of the supplemental information screens ("Feats", "Abilities", etc.; to include the blurbs on the upper-right corners of the video). They seem faster than usual.
I would love to see another version of this fight where the camera man can’t follow them cause they’re too small.

I'm really liking the animated comic panels thing they did for example with the parts where Pym gets laughed at or Palmer is out on his walk. Hope they do that again for future comic book-based matchups.

I think we brushed over the part where he mentioned the atom making nuklear explosions with vibrating particles?
That was a surprisingly gruesome death. I would put it up there with Homelander's death. I think it might be more offputting considering how light hearted the rest of the fight was.
Yeah I thought that for heroes the deaths would be more respectful
well considering that hank pym is a sociopath it isn't too out of character for him, i think the MCU light him a little much, although for because i don't think anyone can sipatize with someone who slap his wife all the time, and imprisoned people in the quatum realm for 50 years on quatum time.
I think his his role in what if? episode 3 was the closest thing to the mess up Pym from the comics, even down with wearing the yellow jacket

@@lightning_bishop260 well if they’re doing first death equals a KO then I think Dragonborn, cause the CU dies A LOT but canonically always revives back at a bonfire until the rekindling task is completed. Thing is Dragonborn’s Arsenal is huge and varied and that’s just on the weapon side, the spells he can use and the shouts accompanying it are a whole other story and don’t get me started on the passive abilities in the skill trees. Plus Dragonborn’s most broken shout in terms of summoning being Dunvir the cursed dragon is essentially a dark souls boss coming to help him since canonically dunvir was a dragon in the same league as Alduin.
@@kevindolan9 I mean the same applies to the ol' Chosen Undead as well in terms of equipment, armor and magic. The battle will likely still be on the Last Dragonborn's side cause he has more lore with feats written on him. The soulsborne protagonists all kinda suck in death battle because feats are considered last and the storytelling comes first.

This is one of those match-ups where I feel like it must've been a headache deciding who the most likely winner would be. I can imagine a lot of "what if Hank/Ray did this?" and "could Hank/Ray do this?" being thrown around while they were trying to figure things out.

Does this technically count as one of the least destructive death battle ever? Because I think the worst they did was just making that car bigger than the room. Also, did anyone notice that Boomstick is wearing his glasses upside down?
Huh. That’s actually a good point. Not sure if there’s any death battle that’s even less destructive. Maybe Dan vs Hercule? Nothing was really destroyed other then a small crater in the stadium. There’s also Deadpool vs Pinkie Pie, I don’t think they did anything too destructive either.

You know things weren't looking good for Atom when he was in awe of Pym Particles while Hank laughed at his dwarf star tech.
This was very much a Flash vs Quicksilver fight. Anyone who's read the comics will know the winner on this one without even watching the vid.
How can antman take a punch that’s the strength of a dwarf star. Atom got the first punch. The fight lowkey should have ended right there. In my opinion. If antman can fight him without getting punched then yes antman. If he gets punched though. Well. Hank hasn’t been known to be able to take punches like that. In terms of physical strength. Hank should have lost this by a long shot.
@@pretikewl76 Nah it's not, their analysis on this was incredibly wonky and pretty much "because we say so". Hank can't survive a hit with the force of a white dwarf star, especially not when he's small. One punch should blow him to fragments. Likewise he can't tank the equivalent of a tactical nuke to the face, he's been mangled by much less than that. Even their statement that Hank has the mental and phsyical advantage in the overspace isn't based on anything. Why would that be the case? Atom has been to many other dimensions. The only hopes Hank had were either A) Removing Ray's suit somehow or B) going to the overspace (except we don't even know if that will help). Whereas a lot of Ray's attacks would outright kill Hank. It was a very weird analysis
Also. One like thing. Atom is a scientist as well. Why wouldn’t he have awe for his colleague (fellow scientist) for any accomplishment like that. Hank was just very aggressive in this one. Like he was more Yellowjacket then antman.

I’m not surprised Ant-Man won, but I definitely did think between Atom’s density manipulation, ability to manipulate atoms, ability to seemingly perceive everything at once, and the note how he tanked a weapon that disintegrated all of DC’s heaviest hitters, that he would pull it out in the end.

To be fair, Atom has a history of getting into trouble when confronted by hordes of ravenous hostiles that operate at the same size he's shrunk down to, like hostile nanobots, viral or anti-body microbodies or other things like that. His usual counter is to escape by running away and either shrinking or growing to be out of scale with the threat. But Hank can just follow and bring his ants with him which is a checkmate.

I find it really neat how a fight between 2 superheroes whos powers are on paper as 'Heh heh. Small Mann" winds up being an insane battle between 2 theoretical sciences that give 2 different takes on the same super power. Comic book writing is one helluva drug.
This script in this battle is epic. In the end the brains of marvel win out. The finale scene tells you that Hank knew he could win all along.
